is it too fast? is it goa? is it psychedelic?? all subjective... have been last week at a party in south of France the party was 24 hours and there was played from minimal/tech/trance to Noise Poison stuff at 200bpm at some point passing through some Parvati/Bom Shanka etc sounds and man what a JOY AND SMILES ALL OVER the place...

just accept it guys it's part of it and people are enjoying it regardless the age... you dont like it? move on and choose the music you like and stop crying about how it supposed to be or how it was in the fcking 90's...

oops thread was over sorry

found Adigroovy opinion more sober and tolerant even neutral than most comments here

and ocelot i think you trying to excuse yourself and hide your true intentions of this thread
not the first time you spread your own hate and disapproval for this kind of things

you dont like it's fine we all like different things

why dont you just tell us what you think is real music
be more specific (artists*, projects, genres, etc)

to sum it all

we all have the right to choose what we like
theres good and bad music in all genres not only on high bpm range tracks
but theres tons of tracks to pick from
try them all that aint so bad is it
im sure you'll find something you like
and if you dont well
write your own music then
and show the world something fresh and unique
some will love it and some others may even try to do something similar

Although I'm not too fond of very fast 'dark' psy, I must admit that once we had a party here at my home AND on shrooms while playing a Psykovsky album, the whole concept of fast just totally disappeared.
It was just insanely good music with all weird sounds popping up from each corner of my room and the speed of it didn't bother me at all, I probably couldn't even tell whether it was 140 or 170 bpm's

Thinking Sound- aka Anton - well, you win... I'm feeling a bit insulted. be sure to introduce yourself if we ever happen upon the same event, please. It might never happen, however, given our divergent musical interests. might I ask you if you ever did a creative original thing in your own life or by what basis you pretend to be a critic of our fine art?
it will be good to know any of your affiliations or credentials as well, and with which crews you are helping organize events, or which agency you represent or? until now I only know you as the bored babykiller working at BAE systems https://www.facebook.com/bantoncho?fref=ts
who loves to try to make ocelot cry ... basically you come here with an axe to grind, so let's find out a little more about YOU, or perhaps we can RETURN TO OUR TOPIC...

lol! Appears that you want to have a "pissing contest" thru affiliations, credentials, crews, agencies and organized events. Indeed a "pissing contest" is where your head is always programmed at and its hilarious. surprised you havent bored us with your stupid story about how long you have been in the scene yet, as if it has something to do with anything. Your music is a complete record that proves you have maxed out on ideas, you dislike the change(evolution) of the music cause you cant keep up anymore. its best you just keep with what you know, producing progressive trance house music without the vocals, lol.

so yeah! lets RETURN TO OUR TOPIC:

What topic? the one that Mr. "GMO(Ocelot)" cant produce faster trance music so he grinds his axe? Face it bro! your education has put limits on your artistic and musician abilities. Your afraid to explore the psychedelic universe of trance.

I will soon make a 230bpm track... just for kix and kids

i feel your a few bpm over the limit at this present time and wouldn't anything above 180 be new territory for you? so jumping to 230 could be a little too much for you. its not an competition, not sure why you feel that way.

shall we just change this topic to : why ocelot spreads hate and can't make fast trance ?

or maybe let's just change the topic to: Anton and friends act like boring trolls on forums and make it impossible to have a reasonable discussion, which is what they get paid to do, by their spymaster employers: disrupt any sensical activity by fringey music scenes... there's an interesting conspiracy for you...

it might make it easier for the mentally challenged who only understand when their cult leader shouts "gang bang" ... and no you needn't bring any lube.

but i'll wait for someone else to tell me to dismount from my very high horse,

or perhaps the mods could have locked this thread when we still had a point, back when psymartin told us how it commonly occurs on such parties, versus all these people chiming in "oh we like fast music and you better not speak ill of it or we will needle you with our sharp criticism."

it was a simple question and I got my simple answer.

but my response to all those with ill vibes towards me: I kindly invite you to sodomize yourself with the cylindrical object of your choice

by the way- i make interesting post-futuristic music you should check out. even Anton (thinking sound) said he liked it until we got into a facebook argument over psykovsky's alleged god-hood. I wouldn't say that it sounds particularly like progressive house, well, except any progressive house I may have made... but that's not usually released as ocelot. I'll wager the production is quite good. the only music over 150bpm is my dnb though... NeuroTransmitterz... cheers. over and out. next login = new topic for me, so don't bother trolling, unless you just want brownie points from your good buddies...

Obviously a lousy sense of humor as well... common dude, we are not here to be better than one another, we are here to enjoy each other and to learn from each other... Take it easy and enjoy your time here...           Upavas - Here And Now (Sangoma Rec.) new EP out Oct.29th, get it here:

Okay so i think im catching on to your humor. the joke is that i said nothing about being better than one another but your implying a fabrication that i did. perhaps you should try producing a faster track just to see if it cleans up your perception

im more curious to hear what evolves or branches off from faster psytrance.

I, for one, am highly surprised to find that the most extreme end of an already extreme musical style draws polarised opinions.

Good point!

What a change, from when this music used to draw people of all different tastes together.

Word to that, I think it's very easy to sit at a computer and say "I hate X" though. I wasn't so keen on fast stuff until the first time I heard a dark set at a party and then suddenly I understood it.

At Ozora this year two of my friends who are really into prog/offbeat (which I find very boring) came with me to the mainstage on the Friday morning - Beardy, Drumatik, Kashyyyk, Megalopsy, then Guiseppe - at the end they had the biggest smiles on their faces and said they had one of the best nights ever! I doubt they would listen to these artists at home but they sure as hell enjoyed dancing to them all night.

I don't think there's a "dick waving contest" or some conspiracy to keep increasing BPM, it's just another style in a musical genre with a whole different bunch of styles that some people like to make and some people like to enjoy. I don't even see how you could have a dick waving contest? If I went up to a prog artist and said "lmao my latest track is 55BPM faster than yours!" he would just be like "what?".

I love fast BPMs and the hitec style because it resonates with my mind, when you get there in the right state and you have that driving kick hammering, the bassline smoothes out into one big sheet of sound, the hats are dancing and crackly FM synths are shooting everywhere it just sends me on a rocket ride into space, maybe it doesn't do that for you but it doesn't devalue it?

In fact I would say music is without inherent value and that any value you ascribe to a particular piece, style or genre is unique and personal to you, therefore saying "x is shit" is the most meaningless statement you can make.

Peace.

Also I don't think it will get any faster because at over 200bpm there is never really time for any sounds to develop, it's super hard to make any interesting leads etc that fits and you can lose all the sub etc.

One final note: i am now making a 190bpm track entitled "Fart Car 9000".
