went last weekend for another illegal 'goa' here in Hamburg, what we got was a whole night hitech or gabba music with noises that they call seriously darkpsy.
It must have been around 200 bpm, constantly, over houres. Seriously, I think this is the beginning of the end of this long adventure, if they use terms as goa party or psychedelic trance party but infact it's just for the kids that are not longer than a year into it.
Nothing psychedelic for 'old' or 'expirienced' souls, not 1% of joy. Of course we always try to give to persuade ourself to find joy also outside of ourselves, to really party and have an unforgettable expirience at the best case. But it does not work on music without melodies and music copying gabba with bullshit noises. When we outside it seems as a bad copy of something great going into a completly different direction. Better stay inside and party piravetely at some point is better. Even poor grandpa gymnastics in front of a mirror has a much more creative style than any possible dancings to it.
I dunno how some can think of it as evolution but I think these are people that haven't got themselves to a really good psytrance party with great vibes. A party in headphones is not a party in reality. I also respect lots of artists in my ears but after plenty tries this is nothing to have a magical expirience to it in reality - for trance state of mind. This state is still there, but without the joy or motivation to moving or finding it inside of such poor music.
You always desire to find a great frequency rising and falling, mighty deep, rraw, clean strong waves looking melody inside of this poor noises at gabba tempos.
Respect to almost everything but still it's the end for many old freaks, if this trend will follow. Actually you see just kids, all the many freaks of yesterdays aren't there, some exceptions maybe but more rarely.           https://soundcloud.com/shivagarden

That's rubbish, dude. Who are you to say that people don't find enjoyment in and can't dance/trance out to high bpm stuff?

Good for you. But don't word it like you are speaking for everyone when you say that there is no joy to be found in higher bpm psy. Some of it makes me smile profusely; ergo, I find it a joyous experience. I've seen people go wild with huge grins on their faces to hi-tech at parties here in London.

Honestly, I was struck by how old (as in not young) people were at Psycrowdelica this year, which obviously is a party with fairly high bpms for the most part. Sounds like regional differences to me.           http://soundcloud.com/herbert-quain

Good point and I completely agree. For example, los angeles loves it's full on, generally speaking. No reason why another region might love high bpm. It's their own journey/evolution that got them to that taste, so can't judge it, only let it be and appreciate they at least on a journey and enjoying it.

some of the higher bpm stuff is closer to the undeground hardcore scene than psytrance to me , i wonder why it merged with psytrance scene personnaly, it should go own mouvment or hardcore . it feel a bit like a imposture. like they enjoy everything in psytrance except the music, to they take the culture and put their sound on it
it have nothing to do with trance sound from early 90s , that is the core of psytrance mouvment to me
