1/0
in/out
women/man
proton/electron
ying/yang
qui/sha
positive/negative
soft music/ agressive music

think about it

droid, this 'evolution' happened in the late late 90's allready...(imo)

Kitnam - you are so right.
but you know why druid notices the agressive so much? because there is no balance. in other words - too much agressive over soft.

I think though, there should be the soft with a little twinch of agressive in it - like was in the good old goa days but enough crying.

And don't missunderstand me:
soft - doesn't mean it's fluff.

We need MORE full-on and morning tunes - music of smiles !! and less night tunes- music of angry faces !

guy...
I dunno if you noticed, but majority in the scene today is just plain Full On morning melodic - and EXTREMELY agressive.           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

i really don't like of melodic morning stuffs.. i like of night stuffs, nothing that has a "happyness" inside the music. it's just what i like, i think for each person have a music style. so.. i think the "community" of "angry" faces is just growing around the world.. not only the fullon-morning-melodic-happy stuffs..           Obiit - Industrial Ambient

i (somewhat outspokenly) dislike of the "death metal" dark vibe replacing the goa vibe....i guess it's because where i live almost every dj plays this agressive music....

the names of tracks/albumsartists sound just like just like satanic metal bands...and the vibe and feelings conjured up by the music very similar as far as i'm concerned...

"murder on the dance floor", "suicide genes",
"there is no tomorrow", "schitzophrenic insanity"
"crucifiction" , "brain damage"

what's next...trancers wearing black leather pants, blood makeup, and inverted pentagram necklaces?

Soon on your trance Shop!!!!!

Why I have to hear samples like "tree of death" in the middle of a trance party???...I mean this supposed to be Trance...you know??Colors, enlightment this kind of things.
But at the same time it`s just another proove about the potential of Psytrance a kind of music quite open so...you have always the possibility to bring another concepts to the trance scene.
But still,I think Is completely unnecesary, this kind of music I mean.
But it`s all about taste, probably many people consider me a cheesy bast**** because I play ambient.

if you want to see how deep down in a black hole some people have slid...

http://www.goagil.com/chart.html

look at how abrasive and agressive his taste in music has become since he started posting his chart. He's totally lost his marbles and sense of judgement as far as I'm concerned. this is not evoloution!

i think it's a question of taste... just that. i'm not a metal freak, but i like hear some metal bands. i don't wear only black clothes, but i like of wear, somedays, only black. u know? taste.
about if this agressive music is some "evolution", i think it's not, it's just some new style.. only that. like in rock'n roll: first come the classic rock'n roll, after that comes some more "agressive" rock'n roll that they call as "metal", but the rock'n roll do not stop exists because of that...           Obiit - Industrial Ambient

folks,
a track can be full on with melodies, and still be agressive.
agressive loud leads with agressive rythm...

firstly, let me comment on the topic header and poster

- drooid, i find great substance in your post and i salute you for bringing this up.
i too agree with you that this trend is not my cup of tea, i dont know why the scary names, scary samples, and so on...

-kitnam you answered briliiantly as well, i like your answer and adopt it for an explanation.

-trip you bring a good point, why so aggresive, even the morning melodic happy stuff is streoid pumped i agree.

- BrettFromTibet well, you know i'm with you on this subject, weve spoken before.

interesting to see a great post with essence in it

i came from metal into trance in the 90's... my metal wasnt morbid though.. so i cant say i care for the names and such that are comparing... the metal i listened to had epic titles and unrelated titles.

I think we should leave the scary samples to the gabba crew, they do it so well, thats not to say that trance should be only fluffy or cheesey. I like Trance That Means It, music that makes a bold, intelligent statment(and that reminds me of marching purple dinosaurs). Perhaps it has something to do with the drugs people are takeing.

I think most of the time its because of how the parties work these days. Some just fear that police will come and destroy the party.

If say, a party had just started, and someone played a "non-aggressive set" for two hours, sure ppl would dance, and after an hour here comes the aggressive stuff (lets say half an hour) ppl dance like mad! boom! then suddenly the police come, when ppl were just beginning to have madness.

I think it could just reflect the fact that sometimes in parties its just best to go on the dancefloor and dance all your might and enjoy with all these aggressive tunes because you do not know how much time you can enjoy in the party (meaning no warm up tracks or sets). If it was aggressive tracks for 3 hours and you danced to it , and something happens, at least you get the "kick" of it. Maybe thats why there is a lot of aggressive tunes these days.

Well i could be wrong in this case, i think ppl just want to have mad time and if possible in "short time" because of uncertainties that something will wreck havoc to parties.
