I'm thinking about changing over to this as the sound quality at the end will always be consistant as you wont have to worry about what decks the venue or organiser has organised as sometimes the equipment is dodgey..... |

computer automatically means MP3 (99%)
CD's 50-50
Vinyls are unique (unless u buy those vinyl metal recorders, 5000 euros, handmade)
CDJ is better i think and btw, it depends on the technique, Slater is one of the asasinos around

everywhere the question is cd or vinyl vynil is the best feelin for sure, but the most expensive too. I play on cdj-s now and plan to switch on vinyls as the time pass away. Final scratch is nice too u can mis on vinyl and play from ur pc. |

1- Psy trance can still be bought in VINYL at least Twisted Rec...
2- In Psytrance, djs tend not to beatmatch and that fuc**** annoys me, its a desgrace, please have a listen to this and tell me if you beat this emotion created with only two cdjs

3- I use 3 cdjs, and sometimes ableton on top with loops and my own tracks and still think PC is still very limited, you have more effects and more ways of lying to your audience by pretending that you play and in reality you just press play and dance (ESKIMO, D-MANIACS and so on...)
4- I play with vinyl techno and i love it, the feeling, the way you learn how to beatmatch and grab the track by the horns and take it were you want it to go, for more than 10 sec of course. Its an art and i can scratch very well, maybe ill give ya a set later on, but for now i have seen loads of the best djs in the world, because i belong to a established party promoter and dj agency and i can say that its an awesome feeling when the dj puts a track properly beatmatched.
5- Ouve la mano, os pcs podem fazer mta coisa mas na realidade estas so a fazer o pc fazer o trabalho pra ti, por isso esta mal.... Aprende a mixar na vida real, com CDjs ou Pratos Technics.....
6- Producers should be almost obliged to learn how to mix, because you cant see the whole picture....... Don't know its just my own opinion.....

11- Im kinda enjoying this....

@ etnarama i can create the same amount of emotion with cdj's or a pc it just sounds soo much smoother with a pc , i remember there being a whole lot of hooo haaa about people mixing with cd's when that first started everyone was so into vinyal but now cd's are the norm , its a nautural progression i think |

Yes, the Technics SL 1210MK3...the vynil version ;-)
You play from your computer with FinalScratch or someting similar and control speed, etc, with your vynil... I'm dj since 96, and I never get same feeling with CD's...
Fore example. with FS3, you can ever play with 4 decks... mixing with two and adding maps/sounds on the two others. Fx's and Filters are available on each tracks separately...etc...etc..

Hey men, I don't know where you live, but here in Switzerland, we organise also parties with Drum'n'Bass/breakcore/Electro/Techno/EBM... and I never see anybody mixing with Cd's, appart some of the big stars performing their mix on CD, because they only have their productions on CD-r.... All the rest of people play with vynils or Final Scratch/ Serato (appart of the psytrance scene)

imo, cds are for the dj and laptops are for the live act..simple as that..
but then again, i think its ok to dj with a laptop..its really just personal preference, but i wouldn't be afraid of using a laptop just to stick with what you know works and what you're comfortable with.. |

seriously i think in 5 years only scratch jocks will be using vinyl anymore, the majority of EDM will be played on CDs and computers with sophisticated mini-controllers that allow for easy manipulation of digital music in a lossless format like FLAC or similar.
