hm for me a guy who plays from a computer is no real dj. first download the tracks then press the button. its far too easy.
and i agree with paradigm. i also have seen far more skillfull mixing from cdjs.

no, we who play from a computer are producers who dont download any track, we make it from scratch, and that my friend is something far more skillfull than any dj playing someone else music. ableton live can kick any cdj ass anytime. and whats so special about beatmatching anyway??? every kid can do that ,and now we have a legion of Pionner "djs" with no clue about music whatsoever.

im not sure what you are trying to tell me my asskicking friend.
this thread is about "djs" playing from computer vs "djs" playing from cdj.
and not any producer doing a live-act or something

maybe i missed a point in your post.

funny is every kid can beat match,

how come most dont......??
or do but dont do it longer than it would take for the tracks to deviate from each other...

maybe everyone can beat match, but only 2 in 10 know how to keep them beat matched more than 10 seconds

anyways im getting off topic

In the end of the accounts the sound that leaves for it I publish and the same no is? With virtual dj/ablenton/reason it is very easy to touch, but this devaluates the artist?

i tend to freak out when someone diss at ableton.
dont mess with the ableton!
and it has a very cool fader too u can easily use it with something like x-session
whats so great about ableton is that it destroys the line that sepparates a dj from a producer-live act. i mean u can play ur tunes in a dj style , complete with ur fader, the only difference is that all ur tunes are time corrected (not beatmatch so it stays in its original pitch and note), the u dont have to worry about that mechanical side and thats where the musician has time to trigger and manipulate samples in real time, pplay a drum machine, fx incoming live audio like vocals, guitar, and of course play live synthetizers. tell me which cdj has the ability to do this. i think im not being off topic, because with these tool more djs will be encouraged to produce or at least remix, and producers to take a new approach at mixing their music          www.soundcloud.com/elektroakustica/sets/downtempo/

cause they dont have pionner cdj1000 MKII like i do!! hehe.
dont get me wrong from my other posts, i love mixing with cds , the mkII are just an orgasm to play with specially in the vinyl mode which i love.. but mixing with a computer can be professional if u have:

-an audio interface with at least two 24 bits audio stereo outputs (neeedles to say thats better than 16 bits)
-a dedicated and well configured midi controller like maudio x-session or evolution uc-133
-an external top of the line dj mixer so u can split the two outputs into the mixer, just the same as with cdj decks, so u actually mix on the hardware, not on the (lets say traktor 3) mixer
-do not use the autobeatmatch option, which by the way is completely useless.

then it behaves exactly like a cdj with the advantages of: visual input of the waveform, 4 decks available, excellent looping options and really nice filters (these i really like).

the MKII are super cool, but the setup i showed above also has its charms, u can at least try it some time, but with these specs noy just a cpu and a mouse cause then it really sucks!!

that right...
many can beatmatch but only a few can keep them matched.
i agree there are a lot(maybe to many) djs but only some act professionally
and imo the best player are the
pioneer cdj-200. you can pitch them most accuratly in "0.02"% steps...           - last possible solution

lets get back 2 work

nothing like cdj100s .. pro , quick & the best dj machine can ever made....

& specially for psy .. wen u dont have to loop , scratch or any of the style mixing ... i mean ( hip/hop- house kinda stuff )

& that is also 1 reason .. not many psy lps

but ofcourse mixing skills & technicques r important ....

u all r invited for our party

loops is killer feature in dj mixer/program
specialy like in pioneer 800 where you can catch several loops and recrate new track out of them (each one goes into his own channel with eq and effects)
