I have noticed the side label of Millennium Records called Yellow Sunshine Explosion... They have released almost 100 (!!!!) releases, a lot of the double CD releases in only 3 years!!!! How is that possible??:

So my question to the artists is;
Is any of the artists on these compilations getting payed at all? Do they ask the artist or labels for permission to release all these tracks?
The CD sales sucks these days, so it seems very strange that a label can afford to release that much if they pay their artists...
And if they don't pay their artists or don't ask for permission, maybe it's about time we stop this madness?

Everythings fine with them.
Don´t you think someone else would have tried to "solve" this Problem, if they would steal all this Tracks?
They dont have the newest unrlsd. Killlarghs on they comps, but they give a nice overview about the Scene...
People may call it commercial... |

I can say from our experience that YSE is working very professional. They ask labels for licensing a track and pay an advance on royalties at releasedate. No problems at all with them, they actually do pay right after receiving an invoice. I think this is good promotion for the music as their releases are sold to many different kinds of people.

We got payed for our track although it was through a third party and they never asked our permission to released it ( as far as i know they never asks the artists, maybe they asks the labels though).
i think YSE releasing only RELEASED tracks and never UNRELEASED, and i guess thier point of this is to release the "hotest" stuff from the latest Compilations.
if they can or can not afford it i have no idea

It seems they made some mistakes and couldn't care less about the costumers...

Here we go again. What is it with you people? Can't stand that YSE is doing pretty well for itself? I for one am glad they're here. They mostly filter out the shit from compilations and albums and put only the best tracks on their own compilations. Very much like old Tantrance, Pulse, Goa-Head compilations used to do. (Goa-Head is still active by the way). But the same DJ Alex that did Pulse and Tantrance is now compiling for YSE.
Quality of the tracks isn't a debate either anymore, since they've got 4CN Studios mastering about every release. Artists are already signing to the label as well, think about Andromeda, Chromosome, Herbal Essence, Elastic, S.U.N. Project, GMO etc.
I think YSE is great. They make some mistakes now and again, but hey, so does everybody right? Can't blame them for that. And for people who can't buy every release that comes out these days their compilations are a real good way to keep up with some great tracks in this scene. So there. My 2 cents.

.. They filter out the shit and then make a shitty compilation? .. I thought the opisite would happen when you filter out the "shit" as you so nicly put.

Nice of you to back that up with solid arguments. If you have a personal vendetta against YSE, then be prepared to back it up with some solids.

As far as I heard they're paying for licencing tracks.
Personally, I'm having problems with YSE. I didn't wanted to touch it, but my patience gone and PKS asked here.
We (Sound Field) remixed Andromeda - Imploded for "The Remixes" album (http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/yse/yse1cd078.html). 3 problems acquired:
1. No credits on the CD cover, not the project name, not the real names and not even mentioned as a remix.
2. We haven't been paid. Sent invoice via registred mail which never made any problems, Ben claims he hasn't recieved it. Sent fax - same. Agreed on invoice via email month ago and since then no answer...
3. Bad atitude from the label side.
That's my experience with them...

Hey People
we released a few tracks under Sonnenvakuum and a whole album under Sonic Cube on Millennium / Y.S.E. .I can say they allways paid the advances more or less in time, but as Prosect mentioned , a few other things are not realy fine. So they bought from us all the Sonnenvakuum tracks as NON exclusive, which means we get much less money from them for the license. BUT on every CD Cover they added a sticker saying "exclusive tracks by Sonnenvakuum" , so this is just cheating customers and artist as these tracks where sometimes allready released before on other lables . I told Ben everytime when that happened to solve it for the next time, but exactly the same thing on the next compilation .... again and again. SO, saying all that, Millennium is one of the more proffessional labels when it comes to Royaltie statements and Advance payments regarding deadlines. There are many other labels out there who are handling their business much whorst.
Hope this information was valuable and brings some light into the dark for artists who thinks about releasing on this label.
