1-samothraki dance festival 2003

greek police suddenly appeared in the camping area.they handcuffed people, who are peacefully smoking and took them away.many people arrested on the last day of the festival.festival's offical website promised to make explanations about the incident.
nothing came out.releasing dvds without police in it felt better i guess.

2-boom 2004,

people getting high with those ballon gas thing.lotsa noise at chill stage.very disturbing.

share yours.kinda negative topic i guess.
put a smile on your face when you are writing

this one is easy.. romania @artmania festival 2007. i was booked to play a one hour chillout set at the afterparty for the main concert (goth/rock stuff). to my amusement they had also booked some DJs to warm up for me... and guess what they played? 250 bpm hardstep/hardcore kick-me-in-the-ass techno... for three hours before i went on.

needless to say, things didn't go so well

cheers!

LOL, what a topic:)

Anyway, definately my first memory from a chillout stage was....:

I was DJing around 5 in the morning at an outdoor chillout stage in Bergen, Norway a couple of years ago, and I looked down on those relaxing on the floor in front of me... Then I see one guy pull up a needle, stick it into his arm and falls asleep... I guess my ambient was too boring...?

Heroin in the chillout area? NO THANKS!!!!!!           CHILL TRIBE

a funny one was during the live, someone asking me to turn the volume down because they wanted to sleep...           ===============================

Never had some bad experiences on chillouts... maybe once when I was playing at a trance party here in São Paulo and someone asked me if a had some RAP music to play (while i was playing some J.Views stuff).

RAP music, yeah right....

In that environment i think i would have assumed it was ketamine...

Anyway, my worst memory was the time that one DJ threw on a progressive trance track while I was dancing to some heavy tribal ambient

one of the worst things in chill stage is to play after some djs that decide to put some "not chill" music ...
for this there is another stages i think

i had this as well..
it is not easy to play chill after some hard core music...
of course all depend in the people around.
you can also "save" them from this           Check out my music page - free music , new style and more :)

One time they tuck me the chill sound system for use this into the mainfloor,
because at the mainfloor the high speakers was broken......

that apen 5 min after i start to mix........

lucky me, this, i guess, was my worse experience......

PS:
many times the gear is broken or old & the djs are bad....

Ah, the memories....

I've had some undesirable situations arise during some live sets but I just have to look back and laugh.

The first time I played in San Francisco, this stranger dressed much differently than everyone at the party walked up to the jupiter synth I was playing and slipped a business card right onto the keyboard, under my fingers, and then bolts for the exit. I'm almost sure he was trying to mess me up but I quickly wiped the card off the keys and continued on while watching him leave. After the party, as I'm packing up gear, I find the card and it says some kind of statement about not having the right to help open peoples minds or something to that effect. Very weird. Especially in San Francisco. None of the locals could explain it, really.

Another time at a California chillout, there was a dood who was so out of his mind his judgement was clearly gone. I had already noticed this individual becoming a party undesirable by the females in the vicinity as he kept oozing around the party, flicking his tounge about and touching his man boobs. During my set, he climbed atop a bassbin in the chill area and starting dancing like he was stripper.... kinda funny and not so bad, but his balance was so off he about fell backwards off the bassbin onto my equipment while grabbing for the chill tent roof for support. He almost brought the chill tent to the ground and my set to a screaching halt.

Others situtation include, being yelled out by a promoter during one of my sets to make sure the equipment they provided me got back into a locked truck. Another promoter, with hands cupped around his mouth like a megaphone, yelling at me over the music to do more live drumming, instead of playing the keyboard at that particular time, as he thought that's what would make the crowd more excited.
And one of my personal favorites, a promoter trying to blame me for blowing up a system subwoofer when it was really just a couple of trance DJs flexing nuts.

Ah, the good times!

Unfortunatelly I hadn't experienced anything bad yet (besides crappy or too loud music)

Unless you can call absence of chill space@the party a bad expericence

Brasil...I had the brilliant idea of taking 2 drops of outrageously strong acid 2 hours before my set, that was hell.
