No, Damon is all good vibes.  The names are never important, we all make mistakes and have lapses in judgement from time to time... keeps things interesting...
But, thanks for this thread (Serhan) because thinking back was a good reminder of what I hope to avoid in 2008 and beyond. Nothing but smiles this year.

i was winding up a big house party in the mountains with some freeform tunes when some sounds started coming through, like 'oooh, aaaah, give it to me big boy', etc.. i realized there was a small orgy unfolding in the corner. they were loud and their dirty talk really graphic, so i turned up the music and kept playing for everyone else in the room. the next hour or so was some of the strangest dj experiences in my life... funny thing, both the participants and the people who were trying to ignore them both thanked me afterwards.

I remember now a funny stuff apen to me before a live set:
setting up my gear, a party freak came to me watching what i was doing.
he add a full beer in is hand, i tell him to leave the mixer desk (beer&gear is not very healty), and i was not very polite....
the guy look at me & after he start playing with is dick my keyboard....
the message was clear....
i add a very good laugh, unbelivable.

During the middle of one of my sets, some asshole started playing the didjeridoo loudly, and he wasn't very good at it. Plus he was drowning out the music and bugging everyone. I was about to get decidedly un-"Shanti" on his ass, until a friend got him to stop.
Another time, the generator went out in the middle of my set. |

At Voov festival, me and a couple of my friends made our way to the chill out tent after a tear up on the dancefloor. Just as we sat down, a girl who worked for the festival and was tripping off her nut came up to us and threw some empty big bags at us, demanding that we help her clean up the rubbish around the tent. I found the whole thing quite funny and laughed, which really infuriated her. She said something nasty in German and walked away.

Foolishly taking some mushrooms (it was UK shroom season) at 10pm to "put a twinkle on things" figuring I'd be OK by 4am when I was due to play - of course I just spent the whole night thinking - shit I'm due on in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 hours..
Anyway.. i was just about holding it together playing when a lad came up and started asking if I had a microphone socket.. "er.. why?", "So I can MC..." - so I then proceeded to have very dificult time persuading him that MCing wanst a good idea in the chill out - whilst *trying* to play a set.. he eventually got the message and wondered off - and was last seen rolling around on the dancefloor...
I'd learnt my lesson though and have stayed pretty straight when playing since then... |

All was peaceful in the chill-out, peaople just lying around, others in small groups passing chillums
Then this very large woman stood up, took off her dress and started rubbing herself all over naked
I came to on my hands and knees crawling away from the ghastly sight with about 20 other people following, due to the the visual horror that was unfolding

well , that was not too long ago. maybe two years.
I was playing at the ranch in LA. the chillout area was covered whit a very nice old circus tent and was very cold... also that was the first dry day of the week.
people was jemmed in the chillout .to scape the cold I guess... the little dj stage was on a down hill position. my back was to this small ravine.by the midle of my set all the equipment on the deck incluing the comp, and the table and cdjs and mixer...and all did came down straith to me...I did junp out the way but was cabled dow by my headphones right out of the mudslide.
because was just on the side ways moustely of the people didn't even notice...also becose with all the gear on the ground the music never did stop. I guess the dj was good. just kiding. great topic. Manny |
