it was okay
the scene was weird. i like a just trance crowd. even my friends new to the scene were weirded out. if it wasnt so crowded that you couldnt dance or move around then it would have been better.
ill only go to low key parties in nyc if i venture that way again. |

Hi everyone....thannxs for having me and simon the other night....we had a great time and it sounds like most of you enjoyed the music but had some problems with the enviroment. I certainly noticed the heavy security and found the sound a little opressive and possibly more tuned to a kinda minimal house set than what me and si played. As for the crowd as long as poeple aren't violent and rude i dont care......i like reaching out side of the "trance crowd" to some new ears as wll as seasoned psy-heads ...dont care if they're house heads, limp bizket fans or hip hop folk and i HATE psy snobs(you were a novice once).
I know in london if you go to a big london party in a club you expect a different vibe from a free party at a secret location in a wood but both are vital to this scene and its development , i know a few artists who were once into crap heavy metal but got turned on and make killer psy music from going to a mainstream party ........
rant over, we loved it and look forward to coming back

i dont think we are being "psy snobs". new people are cool as long as they are respectful. i hear what you are saying benji but the vibe in that place wasnt really that good. it took a lot away from the music and the experimce that many of us seek at these parties. too much pushing and groping doesnt make for good vibes. that place just wasnt a good site for a party. face that fact. it bordered on disgusting at times. if you are into that stuff then i better pick and choose who i see more.
the music was good though and the only reason i made it through the night. i felt like i was trapped in a sold out rock concert without dance space. barf.
oh well...not heading to spirit ever again. that place sucks. |

Benji, please next time try the other side of the stage, I have been going to Trance parties all over the world and the USA for the last 7 years. It was not cool at Spirit,it was one of the most hostile and negative vibes I ever encountered in a place, 3 of my friends got physically hurt just by trying to keep groping hands of their girl friends, I had guys putting their hands up between my legs while I was dancing ... please next time you and Simon come to the USA, have mercy and play in a place where we feel safe

Most of the people there, weren't there for the music or to open thier minds to our community. They were there to be smashed and/or start trouble which I think is a BIG insult to both the DJ and the patrons. Maybe it's better when promoters or DJs take location and the type of crowd it embodies into consideration. |

we are not psysnobs or whatever we are people that paid 40 dollars for a really bad party
Please next time that the Twisted crew get booked to play

I Feel sad for you guys too
Crossing the Atlantic for such a mess
I think Twisted and New York Psyheads deserve better than that
And again no we are not snobs
we just got robbed and punched by coming to see you play
we didn't have any room to even dance
that just show how greedy those people are...
By the way I know some people that started producing crappy trance music and now after such a few bad parties they started making amazing Metal Music !!!

I was at this show....but only for about 7 minutes (not including the hour wait in line) because my brother was immediately arrested by undercover police.... he actually fought back 4 or 5 of them, because he thought he was being robbed. PLUS he's partially deaf, and with the loud music he didn't know what was going on... It was his first time in a club and i'm sad to say that i brought him to what seems to have been a very hostile environment. I was barely there and still noticed all the guidos and jerks. (many of them were officers)
they pulled us into the back area and let me back in because i was clean.....they searched me from head to foot. and they arrested my brother saying he had some substance on him...it was BS. they were pissed that he fought back. that was all they were worried about. he spent the next two days in jail in a holding cell.
WORST WEEKEND OF MY LIFE.
I just hope you guys come back to NYC (or better yet, Philly, but that will prob never happen) I want to experience your set, and i want him to actually experience something other than spending two days in a cold cell with a bunch of Harlem boys....

Sorry to hear what happened to your brother. It's sad but worry not my friend, some outdoor events this summer that will put a smile on your face and this will only be a faint memory.

even after this bad experience he seems more angry that he *STILL* has yet to see a LIVE DJ set....
he can't wait for the next opportunity... hopefully some of these other people in this thread don't lose faith in the music and the people that listen to it... |
