Well it looks like that, but sorry Ernesto Hust and Krell for being paranoiac, i guess it had a good basis.

Files are different in volume so notepad is the way to test! We can go further and try to decrypt it, like some years ago at Windows audio set was found file made by cracked Sound Forge.

You meant well Its really not a witch-hunt, its just a study isnt it ?

Lets not seed so many bad vibes, we are in essence just trying to enlighten ourselves, its all in good fun

I just feel bad for poor Colin who will have to wait for the results hehe.

And Im a bit ashamed I wasnt able to tell the files apart at all :-/

you right in one thing if i will hear a track that i never heared befor (mp3 320) there is a chance that i wont know if its a wave file or mp3.

i never said i can spot the difrence , sometimes you cant tell the difrence.
yea i heared the tracks, to be honest they all sound the same (almost), tho i think all of them have not so good sound but its a matter of taste i guess.
my guess will be:
invisible world - b mp3
mistery sun - b mp3
wishbone - a mp3

they all sound mp3 tho

Just downloaded that 'test' (took me one hour and something) and will check it tomorrow but from a first listen it will be very very difficult to reach any conclusions at all because the longest sample is something like 13-14 seconds and i dont think that it helps a lot on the research.

Really this test doesnt seem valid to me at all (short samples being another reason for me saying that) but will 'play your game' anyway and will post my results anyway.

By the way another aspect of this 'test' has to do with the quality of the original track,i mean if a track is good produced then its easier to spot differences between wav and mp3,i dont know who produced these tunes but they dont sound as really great quality to me.           Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!!

i use mp3 player of 1 GB for personal use (for the car, for work , and just for cary around files.. sometimes .wav).

i have also 40Gb mp3 player that use laptop HD and it uses me more as HD then mp3 player.. but when i travel out of state for long time it sure is gonna be convinience)

for dj set i use only original music of mine and lots of .wav's i get from friends artists, NEVER PLAY MP3 ON BIG SOUNDSYSTEM!! its easy to notice and it sux.           www.sattelbattle.com

I use MP3 players for when listening to long dj sets - I dont really like short sets that much, doesnt give me as much.

Regarding MP3s and sound systems, so are you saying that MP3 will only be noticably inferior on a big sound system, or would you be able to hear the difference on your headphones or thru your studiomonitors?

If the last is the case, you should take the test so we can get more people involved in this.

Many people will say "MP3 is crap, you can hear it right away" - and, well - It would be quite noble of us if we could proove or disproove it

Krell, when you, me and Leo say mp3, we mean new codecs with CD quality logarithms, when they say Mp3 they mean old codecs with 128kbs. This is why it's noticeable that much to them. Mp3 we speak of are three times less in size as the Wav file, they use the ones which 10 times less in size.

Well - I just want people to stick to the facts, and participate.

Trying to stay objective, I dont want to put myself on one side or the other.

Im going with Spindrifts initiative here - and for starters we can conclude whether MP3s are a problem in a high end hifi & studio environment or not - after that, we will need to do the PA testing which I have said I will do. (and I will get DJs & Producers to listen, it will be a blind test and I will do my best to avoid errors in the method).

N was embrassed.
Now I use mp3's only for personal use...
But as a technology,it rocks big time!!
N we can always buy th original if we like wht we hear aint it?
