I personally agree that their contribution to the psychedelic trance scene is phenomenal! They were once one of my favorite artist and I will always have a soft spot in my heart and alltime top 30 list of artists. The stuff they did even up to the GMS vs Systembusters album was incredible and they did a great job at balancing the light and dark aspects of the music. I think that over the years and you can probably attribute that to them getting older, their stuff is mellowing out and becoming more melodic with time. A lot of artist go that route too, I'll use an example that made an apperance on this topic for instance: Talamasca. When he put out the beyond the mask album, it was just on the verge of dark and light. It had beautiful uplifting melodies companied with unbridled force that made his sound to be a force to be reckoned with... But over time, he has shifted his focus to the more melodic aspect of things. Is that bad? NO, not at all... He is following the direction his heart wants him to go... So is GMS bad? Not really, they are just following their heart and spirit and releasing a f*ckload of stuff!! Why the hell not either... What one person considers crap and filler, another considers a wonderful cruizer and a masterpiece! Who the hell are we to say that they shouldn't release their stuff because it isn't to our specification of what their sound is "supposed" to be? Let them do it! If you don't like the album or the tracks, don't buy or play them... Someone else will undoubtely like it and buy the album... Music needs to be heard, no matter who likes it or not, it is indeed a matter of taste and opinion.... Personally, I am not the biggest fan of their newer stuff, but because of that, I won't run out and buy everything they come out with. If I do run across something I like, I will buy it. And that is the way I feel about every artist, including myself.           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

Coming from one of the best, I think that says it all.........

I wish Talamasca and GMS would make an album together...Just pure Psychedelic Nighttime power, with a few floaty trancey tracks in between.......Genetic Monster style.

I couldn't even imagine what that would be like.....           assumption is the mother of all fuckups.

Hey man, are you my long lost brother????? You took every word straight out of my head.......That combination of light and dark, to me, is the perfect "formula" for music. Talamasca and GMS have always been my favorite two artists for that reason......Well said....           assumption is the mother of all fuckups.

the question about like or dislike a project is affected with the style you like(full-on,progresive,tech-trance)the music altitude of the listener or from the drugs he takes.so in case of gms my opinion is that they produce very good music with powerfull equipment(they have the best digital mixer ever made dm-2000 yamaha)but they maybe are a bit money-hunters.the best tracks are the remixes they have made(midnight sun, speaking robots,reload...)

I don't like GMS ... and it is quite a matter of taste.
I like some of their songs , of course they are not my favorites...
They try and they do a great job I suppose , but I think that lately they are running out of remixes or ideas ... That's what I think for music makers that concentrate on remixes!
Furthermore I'm a Clint Mansell fan and I didn't think that highly of Juice (what I mean to say: it's a good track but not a super track). The great thing about it is that they brought it to the trance scene ! I may sound kinda harsh but I really think that they could do so much better with Requiem!I really believe they could! (My opinion OK?) Paul Oakenfold's Zoo York is another remix but he put on his gloves to remix it (an ambient track really , easy listening , lemon orange whatever u may call it, with no extreme changes) Whereas GMS strike with lightnings after the We got a Winner sample ! And I mean that all the craftwork of GMS is just AFTER that ! I believe that is because Clint Mansell composed a thing that was complete in every sense and it is very difficult for someone to remix a thing like that ... and that's why respectfully GMS did a good job on it!
What I REALLY don't like is being at a festival and listening to a certain piece they made like every two hours ! (at Samothraki Dance Festival I've listened to the Dire Straits remix like honestly every two hours (and I really like this GMS remix !!!)
Nice going for GMS on one hand, but on the other ... boredom may struck you to death ... So ... I'm going a little bit off topic to say that GMS are fun for many ppl but then how much GMS can one take (if not a super fan that is)!!! And maybe ... just maybe I would enjoy their tracks more if I didn't have to listen to them all the time ! It seems to me like GMS are like similar to Madonna in music industry (and I consider Madonna a pro even if she doesn't compose any music by any means). Only for the fact that GMS haven't tried a Madonna remix yet and Madonna on the other hand a GMS pop version.
Personally I'm into more progressive and minimal sounds -if I am to put a tag in what music I prefer-
but then again I like the work of ppl like Penta more in the full on psy trance scene! (Madonna and Penta are mere examples it could be Babyface and Psychotic Micro or Britney Spears or whatever).

With all love and respect towards GMS and the effort they put to make something nice , this is my humble opinion.

We are the music makers ... we are the dreamers of dreams...

GMS was one of the first artists my group of friends and i heard....i think THEY ROCK!!!!!!....
no matter what people say...they have always made mind-blowing tracks.....
ofcourse some of their tracks are bad....but a lot of other artists' tracks aren't even worth comparing to their bad ones......
AND....their party was the craziest i have ever been to...if u dont believe...ask the people who went mad in delhi[india] last year.....
GMS rocks!!!!

Very true and that in itself probably explains most of the haste here......Very high expectations lead to disappointment....And as said above, most other artist's bad track couldn't even compare to GMS's "bad" tracks (if you can even call them bad), but so many still criticize and hate.....

GMS live is a fantastic, infectious sound and experience. They really have an original "spun" wiggly-sqiggly sound, truly psychedelic yet FUN. They work their machines like wizards, beatmix perfectly when DJing, and have heavy charisma and power to get the crowd worked up from years of global experience....
I think people are jealous because they are too good at what they do - and prolific. The Dark/Evil trance Headbangers dislike them because they haven't abandoned the idea that psy-trance should essentially be an uplifting and fun experience....

the only thing I don't like about them is ..maybe too many drug samples....but when I'm out of my mind it usually makes me smile.

Bansai and Riktam live the ultimate globe-trotting, party rocking psychedelic rockstar fantasy that we ALL have. Go GMS, Go! see you at Burning Man!

Sure their music works great on the dance floor, but I still prefer some variety @ parties and not 10 alike tracks in a row.. I want more than massive bass & bpm combination.. I want emotions, I want something psychedelic.. Sure uplifting tracks are nice, but GMS isn't the master of those either..

true.
my point here, i think, is that GMS have a 1:6 ratio for good tracks...

Well realy don't now where to start from.........ok first we start by giving 10 points to this quote up here !!

Ok then good quality of sound but thats not enough don't you think !!!
they all started sounding the same over and over mostly like remixing their own tracks over and over but of coarse uplifting
BUT what is it change of DRUGS maybe thats why they are sounding all the same , house music usually this style , aaaaaah ! maybe it change of drugs, well me never saw them smoking CHILLUM ! when they play ! maybe because their more busy now a days cutting up coke and taking their mdma so we are running off the PSYCHEDELIC Track now are we a little !!!!!
Maybe Ibiza is their real place and so it should be !!!!
So PLease GMS take your favorit drugs when you are socialising with friends....and not when making music aslong as it's not acid or chillum !

What really PISSED me OFF is on one of the posters in goa of one of their parties at the bottom of the poster was written something like this :

PLEASE NO NIGHT TIME WEIRDOS TRIPPERS !!
THIS MUSIC WILL NOT BE PLAYED !!!
NOT WELCOME!!!

MAYBE THATS WHY I SOUNDED A LITTLE RUDE WRITTING THIS BUT THIS IS NO LIE !!           get your fluffy stuff out from here !!!!
