Why aren't tracks more DJ-friendly?

Especially darkpsy...
Here's an example. The track "Stage IV" on the compilation Digital Drugs 3. It would be perfectly easy to mix out of starting from the drop from the last breakdown, except that there are two random extra bars added in! like RIGHT AT THE VERY END! do producers not care about DJs at all?
I like to do long (usually 2:30 or so, up to 3 or 4 minutes) gradual mixes, and darkpsy makes this really hard because of all the fucking with phrases. Why can't they keep the glitchy parts in the middle of the track, or just make it so the glitchy parts stay phrased correctly?
I don't want to chop the beginning and end of the track off because those are usually the best parts, but I also don't want to play all 7-9 minutes of a track, because it limits how many tracks I can play in a set, and also can make people bored.
In other genres of EDM, the tracks are always much more DJ-friendly than this. |

but then again, its not the producers responsibility to make dj friendly track, its the dj´s who have to adapt to the music and not the other way

Hey,
Well if we look on the otherway around. Still the producers are working for the DJs and not the opposite way. DJs are playing their stuff worldwide and posting tracklists and making free promotion for the artists. But anyhow... its too many artists and too many DJs, too many track to choose..so if you dont like the track, dont play it..if you like it, dont complain.
Cheers

i prefer to look at music as a piece of art, if was producing i wouldnt make the tracks for the dj´s but for my own pleasure but then again i would be happy if my work was played alot
But i do agree, there are lots of music made my lots of artists and played by a lot of dj´s so in the end, if you dont like the track or if it doesnt suit your set, pick another track

I guess the other half of my complaint is that tracks are too long for how not-dj-friendly they are.
Your standard club/rave hard dance, trance or progressive track is 7-9 minutes in length, but a huge part of that is the dj friendly intro and outro, as well as a section in the middle that's designed for early mixout. If you look at how much of it is the "meat" of the song that's more like 3-4 minutes.
Your standard darkpsy track is also 7-9 minutes in length, but there's no dj-friendly intro and outro. Even worse, a lot of the tracks have all the "meat" in the very beginning and then the last 1/4, and the MIDDLE of the track is boring.
I guess I'll just have to make edits of all the tracks I like that are hard to mix, but that will make organizing my music difficult *grumble* |

DJing isn't hard. With the tools that are available you shoudln't be complaining about DJ friendliness.
There are too many poor DJs. We need to start sorting this out.
I say ban anyone from DJing who complains about DJ friendliness.

They might be poor today, but just wait until they have more experience. Everyone has to start somewhere.
Im sure that all of the todays most skilled dj´s where so called poor dj´s when they first got into it.

The basics of the equipment used and beat matching can be taught in a few months.
Reading the crowd is pretty easy, all you need to do is look up from behind the mixer
Understanding how to build a set up isn't hard either.
I appreciate everyone has to start somewhere, but quite frankly when I pay good money for a ticket to a party I want to listen to someone who can hold a beat and not to destroy the sound of the PA.

Dark trance DJs dont care about mixing tunes together. They just trainwreck the fuck out of everything, its the style and the whole breaking the rules thing.
Goa Gill does it all the time. He is the best DJ in the genre.

idd a very good point !!!
there are people with real mad skills that never get the chance to play because of the status some of the crappy dj's got....
i know it sounds cool to have goa gil dj'ing at your party....but like he himself says... leave your ego at the door. so why doesn't he make room for more dj's in the line-up instead of like dj'ing crappy as hell for 12 hours???
and it's not always the fault of the partypromoter...some deejays only want to do long sets or they don't come
