Here in Brazil we have some nice girls djs like Livia, Akasha, Tati. But I really want to hear tracks produced by women.
I´m learning now the "logic" secrets... but I hope write trip hop songs, not psy trance.

boys play with little cars. girls play with little dolls. when i was a little girl i used to put the little dolls inside the little cars and had a great time playing like that!

on a more serious note, another reason that makes women close their eyes to music production is that they just simply aren't bothered. when i first got my pc&keyboard together, most of my female friends (who like psy and go to parties and everything) just went "why bother?" or "it's so complicated, you give it a try first and then tell me how it's done".

one day, at a party, i had this little daydream about making an all-girl trance project (psy girlband ). unfortunately i don't see it happening anytime soon.

come on, girls! let's show the boys how we want things done!           waltzing @145bpm

Well I haven't had a chance to give but the most cursory scan of what looks like a really interesting thread, but here is my reaction to that question:

First I want to respond to whoever it was that cited fewer woman scientists. Now I read a lot of science research papers and I can tell you that there are a lot of very active female scientists. Like everything else it has the patriarchal imprint that is inherent in anything that is a product of western society. However i dont think the male/female imbalance isnt is as bad in science (or biological sciences at least) as it is in psytrance production.
In my observation, the biggest thing that makes it hard for women to break into something male- dominated is that when there are very few at first people get all suspicious that she's using her femaleness to be where she is. However as more women prove themselves in a field it becomes less and less something people raise eyebrows about.
In music this is doubly true because music is something that comes from and touches so deeply the heart of sexual energy. A female who enchants with sound, especially if she's a beauty is double the enchantment.
:::visions of sorceresses of old humming strangely hypnotic tunes that make they eyelids droop into helpless stupor... :::

If woman really wants to fuck shit up she should pull a Mary Shelly and publish under a male alias and hold off on doing live shows for a while so nobody knows and judges blind to gender.

And of course if people always say "you first and then tell me how it's done" as cited by m_z_x that is a sure guarentee that nothing new will get done. And that goes for everything new to be tried, not just women making psytrance!

Sorry if I missed it, but I don't think anyone mentioned Ree.K. She may not spin or produce psy anymore, but she was one of the original pioneers of psy trance in Japan, right up there with Tsuyoshi Suzuki and Ubar Tmar, only her music was better in my opinion. She still spins
some pretty amazing sets of dark techno.
Nowadays the best are Mussy Moody and Sungirl. Mussy Moody did a track with Kindzadza that will be released soon. Can't wait! Also, didn't Dj Morpho have an original track on "I'm a Program". Maybe we can expect more from her soon.

As long as the music is good, does it really matter what sex the composer has?           ________________________

Come on guys...there is so much bullshit said in this thread. I am female and I work with Cubase, synthesizers and samplers for years. I 'm not a pro, it's just a sparetime-fun-thing for me but anyway I think I have a better understanding in audiosoftware and sound synthesis than many of the males out there. I think the reason why there are very few girls producing music with the computer is very simple: they just don't get the idea! They never thought of doing it because they think it's difficult and they would never understand it. The normal aversion of girls to technical things (I have that too). But in fact it's very easy, much more easy than probably 99% of the girls think. I'm not talking of making music, composing and mixing is hard work and you need lot's of talent and experience for it, but the handling of the software is damn easy....even a girl could do that ;-) I would like to encourage every woman who is interested in music just to try it. Get a demo version of Cubase, Logic, Fruity Loops, Reason, Ableton or whatever and find somebody to show you the first steps. I'm shure there are quite a lot of guys out there who would love to do that ;-)....

But this is not only about trance music.
Many females seem to lack of hobbies & interests.
My wife's only interest is ME
I'm her favourite waste of time.

Come on!!! This is a stupid generalisation. I have many female friends with lots of different hobbies and interests and on the other hand I know so many males with no real interests at all ....they just hang around the whole day and do nothing.
I don't think there is any difference between the genders in the fact of having hobbies and interests in gerneral...

my sweet gf sais the worst form of punishment one could give her is to make her produce music. her vision of hell is a dark room with a computer...where she'll have to produce a sound (especially a bass line, which she doesnt really know what it is) within a day..every day...and it just seems impossible to her.
i've told her i can show/explain to her a few things(so that hell can b easier to live through lol)...but she doesnt bother taking it in...just sais there are milions of ppl out there producing music and she likes her position as a listener..
...and i quite grasp tthat indeed...why bother unless u really have the urge?!

Inner alchemy has a point there, handling rather technical stuff , and hearing all those technical phrases us (guys 'musicisans') use in conversations is what many girls find terribly boring and unchallenging...that could sometimes be whats puting them off.

they may not produce as much music as men do, but they surely dance to it.......as well as take it in, enjoy and judge it in a less biased way..
          Why u little !!!

Let's all start the girl vs. boy thing shall we?? Come on people, get over this! So there are less girls in psytrance than guys. Who the FUCK cares? It's about the MUSIC, not about who made it. This is not the pop-industry where girls make the scene just by looking good or something. Jeez!!           "Subconscious unravels at the point of death, and all time it has known erupts into a moment. As death extinguishes us, so we become it."

well i was goin thru an article in the news paper...n it was dere in it...hwever earlier it was like dat bu nw men have more intutive powers than men dat means men work only frm the rite side o da brain,...            “What we need is the development of the Inner Spiritual man, the unique individual, whose treasure is hidden in the symbols of our mythological tradition and in man’s unconscious psych.” - CJ Jung
