Look.

How about taking a step up and actually use those SCRUPLES society has fill your head with.

Have you absolutely NO culture?

If you did, you would understand what it is to be an Artist. If not at least how to RESPECT an artist.

Once an artist has recieved recognition for his work (as Slug and Shift BOTH have....over and over) they take a step up.

Just like a painter.

Once that first sale is made, it shows there is a respect for that art.
You can crit it forsure.....but you would not slate it off like that.

I mean if you went to a well known painter of Abstract art and told him that his colour use is repetative.....he would fucking laugh at you .....and you would have egg om your face.

This artist is giving his work to the world to view an scrutinise ....for sure.....but its HIS WORK!

there is FUCKALL you can do to change that.

You telling me that you miss the old days??

WHY?....was that when the drugs still touched sides and HELPED you into the music?

Do you not think these artists grow in leaps and bounds with each release of a track or completion thereof.

The production gets better and better....this is their EVERYTHING!!

Do you really think they would push out a CD thats worse than the one before?
Come on man.....thats what makes these dudes good....they know how to spot the QUALITY!

and CREATE IT!

Accept it with grace that this artist may move in any damn direction he wants.
Who asked you for your crap crit comments?

You know....some people have NO Tact.....No scruples....

Do you get on in society?

these boys are WORLD RENOWN!

What gives you teh right to tell them how to make the tunes they create from inside??

Fucking wake up man!!

The lack of respect is what will be this scene's downfall if it comes to that!!

like talking to a brick wall.. the change in sound of these guys is so obvious and saying it got better is a joke. that's like sayin 50cent and those types are a progression and advancement from summin like afrika baambata or even souls of mischief, or sayin offspring today is an advancement from smash. cmon, if u don't get it now there's no hope. like that one guy said, there's no money in psytrance. but there is plenty in house, techno, rave and those sorts. i respect an artist for their work and "for what comes from the inside", but for what the're doin now i have no respect. no fucking way. i wanna let them know and if u think i'm wrong, cool, kak on me, i don't give a flying fuck. the artist alone knows if i'm right or not and if i'm really not, sorry, but i don't expect anyone to admit anything here.

right....see what happens when one doesnt come online for a few days..funny shit like this...

MOney in Psy trance: of course there is...its in the big festivals and parties...there is lots of it...i donthtink i have to show you any of the math, but if i must, huge festival with lets say 20000 people, for the sake of south africans, R100 a ticket (which doesnt happen anymore) that would be 2 000 000 at the door for a festival like that...commercial fucking hippies

go to a place like Ska, where all the fashionable psy trancers dress....check the prices of the clothes....

add in the money made off drugs at the parties...

then tell me that there is no money in trance...pleeeeeeeeeease, dont be ignorant

as far as this whole artistic blah blah goes...do whatever you want artists, fucking reverse your whole track if you must, but when someone attacks your work, let them have the freedom to do so.....cos thats what this whole scene was apprently to stand for...but whatever, you want to talk about respect and all that....

in the end psy is a business like all other businesses....selling a product, until we have free parties and where the artists play for free and all music is downloadable for free , you have to go with the fact it is a business....

so in business, you get commercial mass - produced things...for lots of people, and because it is all that is avlaible and people dont know any better....it becomes big and popular,,,,perfect example, if yuou arent in the music production scene , you would think an Audigy is a good sound card , catch my drift

code A , would be what you call, the kinda client who expects more and proberly would be willing to pay more, where everybody else is settling for what is there.....simple business philosophy....some people wear Armani, others wear Edgars

lets just put it this way, i dont think i have heard anything of yours shift that i could say is better than the best Astral projection or the best INfected......

cheers for now

l337 - part of what u say is true.. there is money in trance. but that's merely because its necessarily to accomplish anything. nothing is free.. but it isn't money DRIVEN in the sense that people participate for huge commercial gain. its true, the bigger organisers make some good cash out of it, but on the whole most organisers make small amounts or break even.. and the artists certainly dont make a fortune. 20 000 people at an SA festival?? which one was this? i think 5000 is pretty much the biggest we've had. give or take a 1000.

secondly.. you're dead right when you say the artist can do what they want, and people can say what they want about the art.. but criticise the music, not the person. it is a matter of respect.

"better than astral projection" - that sentence in itself is nonsensical as it all boils down to taste. many people would call britney spears "better" than mozart merely because they prefer it... but "better" is used out of context. do you mean you prefer infected and astral projection to shift... or that you think technically they're better artists? i think a combination of the two is necessary to make a judgment, and even then its all opinion.

whatever the case may be, mandark's use of sarcasm and "R.I.P" is malicious, destructive, and immature. he is by no means trying to give an opinion, but rather trying to piss everyone off (and he's succeeded!). and he loves it that i'm saying so.

but thanks for the smileys... at least you're commenting with a positive attitude.

i actually don't know what i'm talking about and therefore retire from this thread... this is all just procrastination while im at work on a saturday.

i'm gonna find some hole in brixton and stomp.

I agree 100 % with you DJ. Sarasin!
The sounds/expressions... music if you will, are created from the hearts and minds of these amazingly talented Artists!

This Trance culture scene is and always will be based on P.L.U.R.!
P = Peace of mind, peace in your heart & soul.
L = Love! Love for one-another, love of the music, love of this one of a kind genre!
U = Unity... for all who celebrate with dance and for those who create the rythm so we can all lose ourselves in motion!
R= (the biggest one of all!) RESPECT!! Respect to the Artist(s) that CREATE each and every track for us! Respect to the industry as a whole & actually BUY the Cd's, not D/L!

Last but not least... respect for the ppl who love a certain style & to the Artists that work their fingers and brains to raw bone for releases!

Simply, if you're not liking what you're hearing... turn it off or walk away. The original question at the begining of this thread was an easy one. A simple short post was all that was needed.
It's not right or necasary to bash or put down Artists just because the style they create isn't your taste (I'm not pointing at anyone).
That said, I believe that everyone who decides, wants to be... or is in the Trance indusrty... deserves RESPECT! It's a very demanding & hard (to cope with sometimes) business. More often than not, very little reward.

Times are a changin' I agree, but if we can just learn to go with the flow... it'll be so worth it!

Best for me are:
Protoculture!
Shift!
Damage!
Rinkadink!
Slug!
Headroom!
Skragg!
Hydraglyph!!
Sorry too many to be able to chose just one!

Peace & Love to all here!
