IMO the best on-line psy trance recordstore should fill the following requirements :
1) Friendly service and user-friendly display (+ audio samples)
2) Reasonable prices, fast response and delivery....+ possible extras e.g. sales charts, special prices/discounts
3) Availability of all cds from good labels but also support to less commercial and underground labels...treat equally all labels-no monopoly issues!!
4) Having backstock of all releases (if possible) even if not new. This shows respect to the labels/artists but also and most importantly to customers.
As a friend told me recently, selling psy trance cds should not be like selling bread- only fresh stuff...this is music we are taking about...art should be treated with respect!

I think this is a really good thread and I agree with all four points.
I would like to extend this thread to include all kind of electronic music. I mostly buy all kind of downbeat stuff and I think it's really hard to find a place with Alex all points where you can find, dub, ambient, chill, trip hop, electronica and all other kinds of electronic downbeat music.
If anyone have some reccomendations please let me know!

Well, I would go for SaikoSounds in the psy trance side.
They have 2min 30sec samples of each track.
Delivering to Brazil, is the best since they send it as promotional sample, so we dont pay internal taxes.
They go from the more underground labels to the top ones.
Always restock items.
Special price list, and very good shipping price.
I like trance-shop and psy shop a lot as well, but to receive in Brazil I would go for Saiko !
Hey Seb, do you know the Loud Music webstore ?
They reach a big number of eletronic styles, good prices, and they are from Denmark, close to you !

Nobody his getting near them. Very friendly guy with the nicest looking shop site i've seen.
Lowest price(with shipping and Import Taxes) for me in Canada! Delivery always within 4-5 days!

Nice topic Alex Candy  Well, for me its hard to say which is the best, I get mine mostly from psyshop and saikosounds. I just compare prices at times to see where i should buy and based on the availability.
I buy from psyshop as it is sometimes cheaper than saikosounds and its shipping rates are cheaper. I live in South East Asia, my shipping is expensive! Psyshop has some rare cds which are still available after being released in such a long time. It has merchandise as well, maybe Alex could add in that. Not just merely CDS but DVDs, Clothing (Fan gear?) from your favourite labels although it is quite limited. It normally takes 2 weeks for it to arrive. Sales charts is a plus! I like seeing that

As for saikosounds, yes, delivery is a lot faster as it is in Hong Kong, but the shipping rates are more expensive for me even though it is at close proximity. At times it can be cheaper, and it has more stocks than psyshop if you plan to buy older albums. Longer samples is a plus! I get my orders faster, most of the time is ten days. I add another 0.5 for the stickers they are giving now for your orders, i got two nice "saikosounds" stickers from my recent order HEHEHE

I cant really decide which is the best, i havent tried other shops such as www.trance-shop.com ( i will soon, tokyokid has somethings i want ), www.wirikuta.com, www.chaosexistence.co.uk. I havent tried them because it is a lil expensive esp the shipping cost and some of the items. But i would try them one day I am thankful that these psytrance shops are available because I cant get psy anywhere else around here, if not i do not know what to do, i just love psy!

Set up reward points like www.cdnow.com, for example. For every cd you buy, you get ten points. For say, a hundred points, you get a free CD single of your choice! For 250 points, a free compil? 500, a free T-shirt? It would make shopping psy more fun
I think these shops should try and sell cool cd cases from labels and more merchandise from them. Maybe a member card? which can give priviledges to events? 10% discount?I am not trying to say it has to gets so commercial, its just my 2 cents |

I have to say that Saiko Sounds really has the longer soundclips, which is definately a plus. But I usually order newer cd's so I order at Psyshop. For older cd's Saiko Sounds has a better stock. Psyshop is (for me at least) faster in delivery and you don't have to pay much taxes over it. And THAT is definately a big plus for me! So, I'd recommend Psyshop.
But it all basically boils down to personal stuff...

i agree with Seb. it will be really nice to see some other electronic music cds at this stores.
so psyshop and saikosounds are the leaders as i see

You can listen to all the music but they are very selective and mostly have IDM, electronica and nu school pop (what the fuck is that)

Have really loads of everything in the elctronic scene except trance (too bad) but the bad thing with them is that you can only listen to the singles and not on the albums.
How is the downbeat selection on psyshop tranceshop and saikosounds?
I had a quick check and it looks like you can't go thru just the downbeat stuff and sometimes it's hard to know what's trance and downbeat (if you don't want to read about every release).

i think Chaos Existence ( http://www.chaosexistence.com ) deserves mention for being a great online shop. It's incredibly hard to compete with psyshop and saiko (esp in USA where there are no distributers of psy) but Mauricio and Helen feature more genres than just psy trance (seb-they got lots of Interchill ) and now they are selling production gear (like synths and softs) too.
oh and btw, they put an audio sample of the ENTIRE track online for you to listen to.  i've looked all over the net, but i don't think anyone else does this.

Saikosounds rox. Friendly service, answer questions promptly, FAST shipping to the US (2 days via courier), relatively cheap prices, and one of the most important things is that they have a good backstock. I don't have time to preview and buy all the good CDs within 1 month of their release. Often I may not purchase a CD until 1 yr after its release. Only saikosounds will have it by this time.
Saikosounds also has more underground releases. They really cover the whole gamut of psy.
I think Chaos Existence may give Saiko a run for its money, soon. |

i'm with alex in each word that he wrote
and also with seb
people need allways(if possible ofcorse)to find c.d that they want even if 3-6 months past from the release as it take time to people to know the quality of the c.d-so backstock of release show respect-service and many more include show same treat to the labels and to the artist and the people ofcorse that need to know not only the big labels and names-Also the small one that work hard for the people out there...
i hope all will continue the good path-and i know the the good ones will do it

PIN i go with Psyshop. They send it as promotional sample too and the shipping to Brazil is cheaper. Always buy my albuns there...
Example: Space Tribe - Time S-T-R-E-T-C-H
*At saikosounds: US$ 13.95 + 4.60 Shipping to Brazil, you got: US$ 18.55
*At psyshop: US$ 13.48 + 4.27 (Shipping) = US$ 17.75
Now you got 2 bucks (Reais - Brazil's coin) to buy a soft drink and listen to the CD.
