and as far this cd is concerned i didn t like a single track on it last good compilation to me was va playground and don t get me wrong i own lots of iboga on vinyl&cd but these set series hasn t done the work for me

Papay, i can easily accept criticism, i am very well aware that theres as many opinions as theres people about music, but when people threats with this and that i just dont get the point. I didnt direct my last post directly to Kristyandmoe but spoke generally.

But all who wish to can for my sake sable us down as much as they want because we will as always keep on releasing a wide range of electronic music, Music that for some is boring, bad or whatever, while it for others make them feel good in one way or another.

Iboga Records is a big part of my life and have invested much into it.. So offcourse i react to things people say about it...

Besides this the first 5-6 years of iboga records represents another time. Its a very different scene in many ways now. I have understanding for the fact that some people feel that the recent years has changed a lot and also maybe that the first years created high expectations that were unmet to some people. But this is just the way it goes, times changes, the music available changes. We do all we can to ensure that our releases has a high quality and that its interesting - but its impossible to satisfy everyone no matter what we come up with

I am very thankful for the support during the years and i am also aware that some of the same people who spoke so highly about the project also has negative things to come with, thats fine and also its fine that people say what they mean. Sometimes theres a reaction to that as well...

I guess the point i was trying to make was for me it didnt fit with the set series that was all. Of course its your label, release anything you want, it just doesnt continue on for me what the set series was all about. (Surely this makes sense, go listen to the past releases and then number 8 and sorry but they are chalk and cheese)

I thought the SCS and Ace Ventura albums were probably my favourite 2 releases from last year so im happy that i will continue to support these releases. I guess i will bother to listen to samples from now on.

Im far from narrow minded but sorry im just not into this whole electro/minimal thingy going on. I will as always look forward to your releases that don't push this sound.

i have to say that i am really disapointed about this release.
it is not about that it is too housy or progressive...
it is about the music.
i am into psytrance, deephouse, house and progressive for about a long time.
i understand that iboga is trying to enter new platforms.
but when it comes to house and progressive:
there are THOUSANDS of "real" house producers around - doing and developing this kind of music for years - and they are all doing better stuff than this.
so why i should listen to this standard or low quality tracks on the new iboga compi - if i can hear killer tunes by LINDSTRÖM, PRINS THOMAS, TRENTEMÖLLER, RADIO SLAVE, AEROPLANE, AME, DIXON, HEADMAN, SKATEBAARD, I CUBE and so on?
only because of the "goa" or whatever roots of the label?
my advice to all this "prog" producers:
there is many more stuff around than the typical GET PHYSICAL electro house stuff...
find it or leave it.

Of course there are TONS of house and electro projects and labels around, many of them very well established and world famous.

I understand that in this Music Reviews Section people are encouraged to give their honest opinion about the releases, and this even includes suggesting better alternatives in the same style or by the same artist or label to the release being reviewed.

However, extrapolating a judgment to Iboga based on this release is non-realistic IMHO, specially if you consider the broad range of music they're releasing you'll probably understand that it is not possible to please everyone in every possible release, but many (if not most of the) people will be pleased every 3 or 4 months.

IMO this release is better than the previous one in the SET series, but this basically means it fits my taste better. I recommend everyone to check the samples and reach their own conclusions:

Can't wait to check some of these tunes in the Emok DJ Set and the Maelstrom Live (29/03 @ São Carlos - Brazil). Right now I'll appreciate if someone can tell me what that girls says in the Maelstrom track (It's pretty spectacular...).

Totally agreed here..That's actually my problem with Iboga. For example Antix last album...Why to prefer it since there are tons of much more great music out there in the same style? The only track here that has something to proove and it doing it well as I said before is the Patters of remix..I hope this gonna be an example for you to watch your next releases           www.myspace.com/tasos_notrea

That's my point. Liked the BLT & Danni Makov - Patterns of... (A. Balter remix)? Buy it alone:

More good stuff will hopefully be out soon.

Exactly.

Maybe for people that are not into anything other than psytrance or are new to electronic music in general, this hybrid of psy and house/electro/minimal is interesting, but for people that think wider than psytrance and can differentiate good minimal and house from bad, the hybrid is boring.

Of course, new times, new reality. We just say what we think because we really care and we don't want psytrance to go this way.

On the other hand, there is almost no hope. I even listen to mnml more often now.           [ cuBe ] :: cubeg.org •

i think its completle nonsence to say if you wanna house, mnml or whatever, you listen to those who stick in that genre for a long time and only to that.
To me all those acts like Antix, Solead, Son Kite, Perfect Stranger, Ticon etc fuse elements from those styles, so a new thing is comming out...and thats what music should be about.
to me thats far more interesting...but thats just me           www.myspace.com/motiondrive

In my opinion good music is good music, i dont need to compare to this and that all the time.

If i find something i like i dont give a damn what genre it belongs to, the important is what the music gives you.

To compare the producers who went from a trance style towards a more leaned back style, why compare and sable down?? It all comes down to does it do something for me or not. These producers are not trying to be compared and do better than those people you mention here from house or minimal, but merely evolving their music in new directions, create new music, try new things and see where it takes you personally and professionally. its easy to understand that things cannot alays stay the same and for eksample ticon or Antix cant keep rewriting their first two albums forever...

Banel sure you are wright when you say that those producers evolving their music in new directions, create new music, try new things and see where it takes you personally and professionally.Actually I don't give a shit about categorizing music styles,I just like the music. But here we have to do with results and not the kind of styles. And with all the respect the results are not the best..So complains are naturally coming           www.myspace.com/tasos_notrea

But fact also remains that you and probably many others have that opinion while many others enjoy the music..           www.myspace.com/michaelbanel
