Hey dimitri that isnt a bad idea. Being a former jamband phreak ill say that at the good festivals they have the aforementioned more electronically influenced bands(the disco biscuits, particle, sound tribe sector 9) play the nights. ITs only a matter of time before some full blown trance artists find their way there and set these hippies minds aflame. But i agree, anyone who has lived in a jamband heavy area knows (i lived in vermont for two years) that the jam band kids arent exactly the most amazing ppl. Obviously not all of them but the majority of them are just empty heads getting stoned and turning off. Being part of both scenes for a good amount of time, trancers are just more intelligent, more interesting, and more diverse. hopefully, though this is probably silly idealism, psytrance has something unique about it that will not carry it to commercial oblivion and emptiness. i think the global nature of the movement may at least hinder the progress of the commercial machine. As long as the scene keeps spreading and growing around the world it looks like were in good shape.

Here in the MidSouth ( AR , MS, TN, and NC )

we have a growing psyscene , trancers , that are very spread out but travel to make the events come together. Nothing big like LA, but a wholesome scene non the less...

There are great dj's and Producers among us, but we had to start our own scenes from scratch and try to join them all together for larger regional events. Hopefully, we will have some big events that will pull in trancers from coast to coast and really network the US psyscene....

Trance is our life and we are slowly tapping into the international scene ...

Wow I would travel just about anywhere to catch that one. I guess it should bring in quite an intresting crowd. If that party/show dose go down I will be very happy. I saw Barber (guitarist for the biscutis) a little while ago and was talking to him about the trance scene and he seemed to dig it. The disco biscuits allways have these real shitty house dj's between thier sets at shows and I was asking him why they dont get some psytrance going on. He seemed to think it was good idea so ill just have to wait and see how it all goes.

ye i have to say that the only thing close to a trance party is a biscuits show. two nights of insanity last summer at amazura ballroom in queens. they attract the jam band kids who are looking for more dancable music to go with their brain candy.           ein chadash tachat hashemesh. there is nothing new under the sun. --kohelet.

hello trancers!
i enjoyed the coments on the scene!
i got into trance when i was living in japan 97-99 and have been hooked ever since. i agree with Spliffnik: it seems like trance is just a trend that comes aroud every few years or so there... but if you can get to the smaller shows, the vibe is amazing (hey spliffnik-you ever go to space gathering/ree k/masa shows?)

i wanted to add a bit of info re: the disco biscuits. their original dj is fractalien (mauricio-the owner of Chaos Existence in portland) i've seen him play with the biscuits here in pdx, and he sometimes conx with them around the country 4 gigs. it'd be so easy 4 him to throw down some psy trance (or even better, some psy breaks...) and if there's one group to sort of bridge the jam/trance genres, it's the disco biscuits. i mean isnt bluegrass/jam band just acoustic trance??

hey one question for you all (and if i don't hear enough, i'll start it as a new post, but....)

how important is it(to you, to the scene, etc)to have local record stores that have psytrance?

peace

i think its incredibly impt cause it serves as a homebase for the area scene. . .it brings ppl together. give out flyers there etc. i also like browsing physical record shops. on psyshop i just know what i want and order it. at home of trance for example in ny i can look through the shelves and say "whoa, havent heard them in yrs and pick up the album."           ein chadash tachat hashemesh. there is nothing new under the sun. --kohelet.

hi psunspot! Thats funny, just saw Ree-k and Masa play a couple of week ago, with EL-5. They are going on as strong as ever.
Which parties did you enjoy the most?
I really enjoy the Daze Maze parties and Chikyu-ya. Did you go to those?

Heres something I would like to see- a trance recorde shop with a small bar for coffees and beer, with turntables so ppl can spin and hang out, not just buy a cd, chill for 15 minutes and leave!
Kind of like Quintrix disc lounge- great community there and ppl stay for hours sometimes, like when I spun there the other day!
