In an ideal world we'd have the time to honour each piece of music that is sent to us, and reply to emails, click links and visit web sites.

I know how it can feel - we run up against just the same kinds of challenges getting people to review releases or license tunes. Sure it is frustrating.

[I have a suggestion - how about working with someone like Triskele, who will get your music listened to very effectively and help with all manner of things. We now use a PR company for press reviews - best to work with specialists for some jobs.]

When new music comes in and grabs me to the core I can't really listen to anything else... have no desire to go through demos - would much prefer to listen to the new liquid stranger material that's blowing my mind and immerse myself.

I've missed some really great demos by not being 100% thorough. Truth is we're swamped with music, work and other demands on our time. In spite of my imperfect process, we have a release schedule that is solid until the end of 2008. There may be one or two spaces left on Nathalie's comp.

I rely on the ears and advice of our A&R's - achieving more together than I could alone. They are filters. They get to decide. Brilliant.

I have Nick to thank for making introductions to Gaudi, Tripswitch, Seb Taylor...

Naasko to thank for playing me mau's music and the dervish dvd...

Gaudi to thank for many connections...

we are a huge network at only one or two degrees of separation...

if there were more labels then maybe there'd be more opportunities

sometimes email just is not the most reliable way of making contact, what with filters, spam, and the amount that come in...

and you are right that people often delete unsolicited emails from people they don't know. that's how i start my day.

i can say for sure that our next comp, Devil in the Detail - compiled by Nick, does have a number of familiar names, but also it has 10 tracks by people we've never released before.

kris - if you're who i think you are then i've enjoyed what i have heard of your music very much

cheers
