I think Maux was showing frustration experienced by many artists of what to do with your creations in the 'digital age'. People now days have the ability to mix, re-order, DJ and copy to their friends digital music.

We are currently going through a major shift in the way music (known in the music business world as 'digital content') is 'consumed'. I have been following the itunes story and the case for and against DRM. EMI has just announced that they will enable itunes to sell DRM FREE music @ 256 AAC quality (for 30% more premium). Heres link to these developments-
http://www.theregister.co.uk/music_media/

Eventually lossless downloads will almost replace CD.

My personal feelings is that there is so much music released that I cannot buy all of it, it adds up, & postage and customs on top of that (+delay)...so I try and support the artists that I dig the most, or upcoming artist...and that means I tend to buy more ARTIST albums with COOL cover art. (e.g. Sattyananda & Flooting Grooves), and I prefer digipak over jewel case....but then I also downloaded some recent 'compilations' from torrent sites...(please don't flame me 4 this). Of course there are exceptions, some compilations, the mix between the tracks and the consistency means you have a long trip e.g. Fahrenheit project.

I also find that if I buy a compilation you end up buying tracks twice as these eventually appear on the artists album. e.g. mystical sun latest album contains 5 tracks already 'released' from comps, but there again some comps feature rare gems....

I think that Fake Science (for example) have a forward thinking pricing scheme, $5 for an album and $2 for an EP...that way artists can get 'tipped' for releasing digital music quickly. Digital release should be 50% less than CD.

And finally I have esp enjoyed Maux tracks on Interchill and Vajra in my collection, he put a lot into the feeling. Quasga, i have both of you CD's in my box and I probably many more with your artwork

We have gained much insights from this thread, and I feel people should say what they feel, good or bad its real, and thats what counts. I would like to hear more from artists what they feel about digital music, and the 'threat' of P2P downloads.

hi wombat! first off, i like your music very much, checked out your myspace. very nice secondly, you are danish - which probably means you drink a lot of beer, which again means we would get along just fine.

i would, however, just like to give my opposite feelings to what you write. i have contacted some labels in the psy scene, and they have all replied promptly and with courtesy (is that how you spell this one?). native state records, interchill, ultimae, electrikdream etc.. very professional and kind people who run these labels, and they have answered every single mail i have ever sent them. and i am by no means a known artist they should feel obliged (spelling?) to reply to.

cheers m8

Btw i was just just joking about questions to robert henke and richie H., even if i really would like to know what these artists actually think about compilations, album, digital download and various, I am running a small label and i have the same frustration that maux has, so i was just wondering '' we will seriously ask this to MONOLAKE''
I'm so sorry that the famous compilations compiler koalakube and the great Quasga got offended..

Dear koalakube why dont you get a life instead of mailing me and asking me to play at SONICA like every other 16 year old ''wanna be'' dj does ? do i need to post here the email you sent me ?

Why do so many of the psytrance scene organizers not reply to new unknown artists? And why do they not give new artists a chance, and i don't think about the usual "pay your own ticket offer", instead of booking the same artists year after year?

You are very naif dear wombat

The answer is around you,,, just be sensitive to the hiden messages....

Pacience is the best quality here i guess.

Hmmm I have a pretty good life already mate ,thank you very much.

And what is so weird about mailing a promoter and asking to play at a party?

I mailed you as I also mailed other party organizers, is that such an unconvininet approach in your opinion?

You didnt bother to answer, fair enough I know everyone is busy this time of the year.I got my bookings elsewhere and I happy with that.My life doesnt change really if I play at SOnica ,even tho obviously I would have liked to (obviously since it was me contacting you).

I dont think you have any right to call me wanna-be dj .Anyone who knows me can tell you thats a very ignorant statement.

As bottom line,it is very tipical of someone without an argoument to answer back shifting the topic.

My remark was just about you popping in a thread without having anything to say at all.

Thank you very much.

There are principles in forum etiquette about personal conflicts and going off-topic. Do it per mail/pm and don't.

I mean, the jokes on me really, becuase he actually speaks another language (possibly more) and I am only fluent in English. my teacher here says LANGUAGE not LAUNGUAGE...ooopps

the sequel is never as good as the original...anyway...

should we start a topic/area where we can insult eachother ?

i think this is actually good...better to take it out than suppressing it.

notingh personal here with anyone...really.-
if i was defensive is maybe because someone attacked me first.

i think this post is showing revealing many interesting aspects and a lot of tension.

we all strugglin to keep it real

happy easter averyone

I agree, but I am not going to diss someone's profession on a public forum.i.e. not calling you a wanna-be dj or never called Josko a wanna-be promoter.

sorry if i've been rude.. but i was saying ''like a wanna be dj does''.
Btw going a bit off topic, I AM a ''wanna be'' promoter, because befeore being a promoter i was a dj. I never wrote to any festivaL or parties asking to play. I really dont like this. I rather to go around to listen new djs and artists with my ears, and in case book them, or when i cant get there with my ears, i listen some suggestions from friends or people i trust ''musically''. That's it.
And of course i started like a wannabe , and probably still i am a wannabe dj, that's why i dont like to ask, prefer it when someone comes to me and says'' hey wicked set, do u wanna play at my gig ''
Bythe way sorry again if i've been rude to anyone.
