This year we've seeing very good realeses en progressive music, albums like Atmos "2nd Brigade", Son Kite "Coulors", Kooler "Open", Lunaspice "Reflexion", Freq "Strange Attractors, Human Blue "Electrolux" and many more.

Why do you guys think it has been such a great year for progressive music?

I did not like atmos album much. the son kite and freq albums are really nice. this years progressive tunes have gotten me to

I think the answer to your question is, they reflect better the feeling of psychedelic. I cannot find any psychedelic taste in much of the full on today. but still waiting for hallucinogen and shpongle to remember once again pure psychedelia.           `Bottomless wonders spring from simple rules, which are repeated without end` Mandelbrot

I believe that Progressive Trance is constantly evolving and increasingly more people are getting tired of the same full-on stuff that has been coming out with the same formula.

As a result more artists and listeners are turning to Progressive stuff. If you look at the Proggy releases this year, there have been more than any other in the past years.

I also believe that the labels themselves encourage this where you see labels that have been releasing only full-on stuff, now they also release proggy material as well.

Never agresssive, always progressive!           Don't hope 2 much 4 something cause u may end up getting it...

The Freq album converted me, so I got interested in the progressiv genre.....
So I say.... bring on the proggy tunes!

Remember the days when Ticon, Electric Universe, ManMadeMan, Bigwigs, KURO, Tristan, Bitmonx, Buzz, Son Kite, Vibrasphere and Atmos all sounded totally different from eachother and were all called 'progressive'? That was only 2-3 years ago.

Out of all of those, the only music that people would call progressive today would be Ticon. Progressive used to be a giant and diverse genre. This year that finally ended. I still like progressive music - I still enjoy listening to this. Adunno, just something missing I guess.          http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222

I don't remember when Bigwigs , Tristan , KURO or Electric Universe called progressive .

Manmademan release album and couple of tracks in progressive house/trance style and back to psychedelic fullon again .

Son Kite , Ticon , Buzz , Atmos sound different today also . Vibrasphere is Digital Structures fake .

Kaz , you miss "the new , cool style called progressive " .

Dimitri: Electric Universe - Unify, Tristan in his pre-Audiodrome days, KURO in his pre-Charm-Pathfinder were all called progressive. The Bigwigs are still considered progressive (just different than most - they still try to make it psychedelic). ManMadeMan's album was also considered progressive. All this by progressive DJs, not just by listeners like me.

Son Kite, Ticon, Buzz and Atmos all use the same clubby energy and grooves to drive their tracks - Ticon were the only ones that did this from the very beginning though (Perspectives Of... and prior Son Kite material was a totally different form of energy, as is Buzz's older stuff - and Headcleaner while being soft was not clubby). The definition of 'progressive' got narrower and narrower with time. The amount of diversity between Ticon, Buzz, Atmos and Son Kite is less than the diversity between Ticon and Son Kite 3 years ago, AND THESE ACTS WERE THEN CONSIDERED SIMILAR.

I don't get what's new about the style today. Production is better, basses are fatter, grooves are better defined, atmospheres are more floaty-funky. That doesn't make it new. Of course, the same holds for most genres in electronic music. It doesn't make it bad or anything, it just means that only the gems that shine brightest seem special nowadays.          http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222

Perspectives Of... was one of reason why i start to listen to progressive , Colors one of reason why i stopped . So here i'm with you but i don't define many of artists you mentioned progressive , Manmademan - Cell Devision is progressive imho , the new album is psy pro fullon in one flacon . Atmos 2nd Brigade i define way better than most of his previous releases which were childish production , now he much more mature . Vision and Canedy fresh direction is psychedelic progressive music made by Hadshot more into progressive house scene . I never liked Buzz but i liked Bitmonx which is not progressive also . Sasha had many psychedelic elements in music which can't be progressive .

Best release ever in psychedelic progressive was Timetech - Notes but still this year many new fresh artists came to our world.

my god...atmos previous releases...childish production...WHAT THE FUCK??? Headcleaner and Echolab...childish? lol.

Sascha had many psychedelic elements in music which can't be progressive...so are you saying that progressive can't be psychedelic?

i think we are going to have to agree to disagree. and Kaz, to be honest there is nothing new about todays progressive aside from the fact that it has evolved a bit, like you say, production, bass and grooves.

Higher Human Form album is nice, quite fresh sounding, this guy has created a very original sound. my only gripe about the prog releases this year was that a lot of them were following the prog house direction. i like it but i far prefer the more trancey progressive, FREq an Beat Bizarre. to be honest i still feel the style is still very diverse, and is getting more diverse with house influences emerging.

Near new album old Atmos's stuff sounds cheesy to me , but it's my opinion . Bitmonx was something crossing two scenes , like Shiva Chandra and Auricular . Everything can be psychedelic but Bitmonx for me much more close to psychedelic than progressive .
