do you mean ibs2? these monitors cost a lot

still listening don t tell you much unless you re looking for audiophile speakers ,only way to judge is to mix on them in your studio, only things that matter is how it translate and in how much time you get the job done...

you have to try in your room to really make the good choice .
to add to this, just moving a speaker by 15 cm can add some 10 db or more difference in the freqeuncy response.. listening in not ideal condition make it really hard to judge

PoM ,
i meant this monitors ;
http://www.univers-sons.com/audio/pmc-tb2s-aii-tb2saii.html
they were on sale for 2400 euros .
and yess it s quite more that i would spend ,
but because of them all others speaker were something really different .by the way they had a smaller model the tb1s but not enough bass .
but i get your point about the difference between mixing and listening to them .
i picked up years ago some small Genelecs ,and it s got this amasing clarity in the mid range ,(today i would say enhanced ),wich is what i end up missing in my mixes ,and not enough bass ,wich i end up overcharging in my mixes ..........i hope i could mix on the Pmc and let you know hehehehehehe .
today i went to an other shop and compared Adam A5X and A7X with Dyn Bm5a Mkii and Bm15a ...
well my fav went to the A7X cause more bass to me and seem quite a flat response ,while the Bm5a mkii seemed to be more generous in meds ,but smaller so less bass ,but i found them way better than the A5X .the bm15a two big and expensive anyway but shure were sounding quite good ....i tought that the adam A7X would be a very good back up for my mixes keeping those Genelecs in back up .
one model i d like to test is the Dyn Bm6a but not this time ....and were i live only internet for checking ......not enough anyway not got the budget yet so maybe before i get it will get to hear more ....

these pmc are really good already, i wonder how is the bass on these cause these are so small in size.

and yeah just by lisetning you get just a bit of the story, ideally you would compare each mix you made on the monitors and see wich one is the best, also wich monitors make you work fast and take the right choice ect.. for my experience is the only way to compare monitors. the less impressing by listening could turn out one of the best once you are in the "serious" league

yeah i see what u mean ...i don t have enough experience on that unfortunately .
well the bass of those PMC was really surprisingly good in the situation i tested them .the lower model was two small and week in bass .
if u can get one ear or too on those it s surprising ....
from a listening point of view .
please Pom ,i ve read almost the post here and i think you were saying good stuff about how the Adam A7X were translating your mixes compared to Dynaudio stuff ,am i right ?

no it was not the a7x, it s the old p22 that i think are step up on the a7x

bm6a are great but i like more my adam, specially in the mids and highs

in that price range today i think i would give a try to the focal solo . focal is a bit like a mix of adam and dynaudio , it have some quality of both i find .. but it s so personal.. best is really to give a try if possible.. now it s more easy with store that accept return

I have the a7x but my room is nearly untreated which has a deep impact on my mix translation but I started to learn how to deal with that until I have enough money to treat proper

I have to say that the low end is not really present and so I tend to mix to much of it in, but upper mids (the lower between 150-400 are dipping/bossting like crazy, some rockwhool behind me stopped that for 100-200hz range quiet well) and highs can translate really good nevertheless I have massive flattering echoes and dips und boosts here and there but check out my signature, it's the last mix I have done under this conditions and it translated quiet well to headphones and cheaper sounds systems in my opinion, so I'd say with my room treated these monitors can be really great even with an nearly untreated room you can get some good results(question is if cheaper monitors would have some results at that stage)

also maybe keep in mind that I'm still a beginner at mixdown, as I have the monitors for like 6-7 month and did about dunno 10-20 mixes on it, I just lately discovered a lot of new techniques and knowledge about it

so before sb. spend all his money on monitors, leave enough for proper treatment..I made the same mistake and was somehow disappointed in there first months but learning how to deal with that is also some good training but not really necessary I guess:D           https://soundcloud.com/noordzee-laborant

do you have good headphone to check, it can be usefull. it s the first thing i would buy and then save for monitors and acoustic treatments

Yep and agree, I always try to make it good on headphones and soundsystems, but headphones are more important as people listen more with headphones I'd say
Headphones revealed to me that my lower mids totally boosted on monitors so I had to make these even louder to have a decent volume on headphones and my bass translation improvement was heavy after that           https://soundcloud.com/noordzee-laborant

I'd spend ages tweaking monitor position relative to listening position/back wall/floor & ceiling and toe-in before spending too much on treatment. A couple of inches here, a few degrees there, can make a world of difference, especially as far as how the bass sounds.           http://hermetechmastering.com : http://www.discogs.com/artist/Gregg+Janman : http://soundcloud.com/babaluma

When I upgrade from my Adams A7X, this here will likely be amongst the choices...

For me, a new pair of ATC SCM50 ASL Pros, when I have a bigger space, and the cash (not for a few years I imagine!)

Don't think I'll ever leave the ATC brand now I have owned a pair. Most neutral speakers I have ever heard!

although maybe somewhat offtopic i must admit the latter atc speakers look total shit.. for that price i want them to look sexual. taste and that but i would need to hide them, lol..           http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/stereofeld-frequenzwechsel
