Can someone direct me to my future sound card?
I am using an onboard soundcard atm, and this is just as it sounds...
I need an external soundcard, that can reduce my cpu usage, when using vst instuments, alot!...
Also a sound device with some effects on it would be really nice, but I dont even know if such a card exist??
And another requirement is that price doesnt exeed 300 USD...
Happy and poor, that I am. But optimistic and enthusiastic |

Ive been running an EMU 1616M on a ricoh cardbus ASUS laptop since about 6 months now...I did get it to run pretty stable and it does sound great but its quirky as hell!!! If you really know what youre doing I could recommend one for studio sessions, but for live... not really. If you want zero stress from day 1 there s only one name : RME
I was also stunned by the specs and later the sound of the EMU´s, but to be honest I dont trust the card, its just way to temperamental and causes freezes and weird shit all over the place. Too bad, if EMU get their driver sorted they d have the market cornered, as things are now these cards are just too good to be true, too bad really
btw I picked up a used RME 2 in 2 out card with Digi IO for about 150 euro on ebay (PCI) a few years ago...best card I had, never gave me stress...Right now Im looking at the RME fireface 400 and multiface 2 very hard
peace n good luck

i think none ll do that ,you have better latency with pci cards.
prahlad check the lynx cards too and if you have digital i/o maybe you should just buy converters. i think a digital card with conveters is the way to go. |

Thanks for the answers, I have been looking at this card : http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/Delta44-focus.html
A M-Audio Delta44... But I cant seem to get any good description on this card. Would this reduce my cpu usage a little, a bit or a lot?? Is this a card that can be used to create a fat sound? Or is it n00b? |

no i don t think it ll reduce your cpu usage, only dsp cards reduce it for their own plugs, what cpu are you using? about the delta you have what you pay for , if you have some analog recording to do forget it.rme have a good price/quality ratio. |

Fat sound? It's supposed to produce the sound the way it is, not alter it in any way. And it does do a good job at that, but it is a beginner's card, though with a very good sound quality (for the price). |

So now I got out and bought the M-Audio Delta 1010LT. I must say that I'm surprised. This is a really great sound card. But I am however experiencing some problems. When I'm playing music (same level db as I always do), it begins to crack. It occurs every 3 min aprox. On my onboard soundcard, this does not happen. Does anyone know why this is happening, and what to do? |

It looks nice! How do the converters & preamps compare to the one's on the Fireface 400 though? I know the Fireface 400 costs double what this does..
I think i might sell my presonus firebox & get this too!

The UltraLite looks very nice...
for sure something i could see my self with,
though i recently got the yamaha aw1600, and i like it alot, gives me alot of flexibillity.
still i need something better as soundcard than my audiophile 24/96..
the possibillity to adjust levels on the fly is very sweet with the ultralight, amongst other nice featuers, and all those inputs and outputs..
i just bought three new microphones, 2 AKG Perception P 100 and one sure sm57..
so i need to wait a while before i invest in more stuff.
the more you buy the more you need. haha
now i need that headphone amp that i returned, cause i didnt need it at that point,
SAMSON C-QUE8... lots of inputs and outputs, hehe, great for having a live studio recording.
