In the studio I use 2* M-Audio 1010LT. Runs on a Intel-based machine with XP sp1. Works wonderful. Had big problems with AMD so I switched. High quality, very reliable soundcards for little money.
Only downsides that ppl might dislike is that it's unbalanced(RCA-connections).
Live I use Edirol PCR-1. Works great, very reliable.
I run my sets with that and a laptop with softsynths.
If you are looking for soundcards or a slim midi/audiocard-keyboard. Be sure to consider these.

i use emu 1820m, runs smooth, clean, transparent, very nice choice in its price range, i also have M-audio FW 410, don`t like it as much as emu, even with the newest drivers dropouts, i played a live gig with this and i was praying to finish it without a crash. also headphones outs are very weak as stated before

yeah maybe i should get a delta 1010 and buy some external mic preamps, and a bigger mixer and a midi interface
maybe it is the best way...

That's what I've done. Takes quite a bit of space though.

yeah, but maybe you got a little more freedom this way? Being able to choose high quality components for the setup, like very good mic preamps and so on.
anyway im still thinking, and maybe i will decide when next paycheck comes... i dont know.
the thing that its unbalanced makes me hesitate a little cause i will probably use long cabels and i really want everything that can give me high quality recordings... though its not all up to the components, to know how to do it is a art it self..
i have droped the thoughts right now and we will see what happens.. still i have had no problems with m-audio so far... so its still a possible option... |

Hello 2 u all. I am a user of RME hammerfall multiface.
till now i had no need for a mic.
now i need a simple one for voip calls, msn etc.
My comp. is for my general use and my music mashine - so i ask if anyone can guide me how to connect a simple 10$ mic to my pro s.card, or if it is possible to have my pro s.card and the simple on board s.card active at the same time.
much thanks to all who try to answer me..
Guy.

One time when Matan came to Brazil he was using a pcmcia ECHO INDIGO, it sounded very nice. He also recorded the guitars and the vocals from "weird 60´s experience" using it. |

Ho!
some users in this thread shots up upon the m-audio soundcards stating that ALL of their cards are crap
I wanna know if this applys to the delta series and specially to the delta 66 card though I'm looking forward to buy one of these..so what you think ?? It's a good card ? any pros and cons I should consider ? I need the I/O's as I'm recording guitars, voices and some live percussions, and dont necessaraly need the digital I/O's right now but I think its good to be prepared for an hardware upgrade in near future.
This card will propably running in a new DAW I 'm getting..with AMD athlon 64 CPU which the Motherboard I dont know yet...can you recommend a REAL nice Mobo for this setup too ?
I have serious doubts about this pci-e,pci-x issues..and I plan in the future add a DSP card like UAD-1 ou TC so to me its very important to get the right stuff
thanks very much
peace out

Wanka Tanka-first M Audio cards are cheep and what's cheep is expensive in the and, RME card have staible driver's and have better convertor than M-Audio or any auther card on the market in this range of prices, so RME is the best for recording and safe working(I'm useing RME HDSP 96/32)
about pci-e, you dont have sound card's or any DSP card's that fit to this slot's, so you need pci
and the BEST pci borad for this jub is :
DFI Lan Party Ultra D NF3
