These are the audio interfaces within my budget that I've seen:
- Presonus Firebox
- Echo Audiofire 4
- Edirol FA 66
- Focusrite Saffire LE
- TC Konnekt 8
Any comments? |

Yes, it has a lot of good reviews, but it also has some that are really bad.. http://www.zzounds.com
On another thread about my desktop config., kalimamboh said I could use the Emu 0404, it's a pci soundcard. If that's a good interface and if it's enough to start, it's a good option considering I'd have more money to spend on monitors and controller.
I was told to save on PC (get a lower specs PC) and to get a better quality audio interface than the M-audio 2496. Then, I decided to rise the audio interface budget up to $300.. but if this Emu 0404 has good sound quality and overall good quality..should I consider this option? It would cost me $100 and I'd have more money to spend in monitors and controller!
Thanks |

People, sorry for posting so much.. but I'm in a hurry and clueless..
I think these are my options (consider I already have a controller, an M-audio Oxygen I borrowed from a friend. It's not a great controller, but enough to start with) :
1) Buying a Emu 0404 for US$100, and spend the rest on monitors. The only problem I see is that maybe with the Emu 0404 I won't get the best out of the monitors.
2) Buying a US$300 audio interface, so I can get the best out of the monitors. But I'd have $200 less to spend on monitors.. Or I'd have to pay some part with credit.
3) Buying a controller/synth/audio interface (all-in-one), the Novation X Station 25 US$670 (in Chile)..nice controller/synth, but if I buy it , then I'd have even less money for monitors
Opinions? |

Folks, I decided to go for the Emu 0404... I don't need anything else right now. When i start something I tend to be too obsessive. When I bought my dj gear was the same thing...
So thanks a lot to everyone who helped and shared their experience and knowledge.
Be preppared to my questions about "how to do this and that" when I start using sequencers and vst's hehehe..
thank you, have a great weekend! |

hey trancedelux, now that you've asked so many questions, you're obliged to get the best out of your gear and make some excellent music for us to enjoy!
i think e-mu 0404 is a good choice (as i already told you in my last post).
good luck!!

guys be careful if buying any TC sound card, i bought a TC konnekt live, and it was known their was some driver problems with mac...guess what, their was some problems with pc drivers too ...
my advice if u got a little money is to go on with RME products, very professional and secure hardware
otherwise i heard the presonus is indeed very good for that kind of price
But echo also makes great cards with great sound |

vermeee > 6 pin firwire is with power supply, 4 pin without - you will need external power supply for your interface when using this ... you need a cable - one side smaller 4 pin, other one standard ... there are many, just pick some high quality one ..
no way to be less efficient for the card
