hi guys....
I`m about to upgrade my little homestudio a bit, and am searching for a recording possibillity for multiple synths into the computer....
what I need (want ) most is a digital mixer, Audio/MIDI interface (and perhaps DAW controller) in one. The only problem is, that most of such gear has too much Mic-Ins and too less Line/Instrument-Ins. Untill now my favorite is Edirols M-16 DX.
But does someone have another/better recommendation i didnt see yet?
I´d too really like one for the firewire port, to have more USB Ports left, but USB would still be okay....
greetz, dave

yeah man.... these ones I saw too
but don`t like them
i know, that i could connect my synths to the mic inputs, but i do more like one stereo pair, than two seperate mono channels. I discovered one piece of gear, with two mono mic in (one of them with E-guitar support) and 8 (or so) stereo line ins, but don`t remember the name..... would be cool if anyone does.

I have the RME 800 and it rocks, if a tad complicated at first.

Hello! anyone using the TC Konnekt 8 succesfully with a Laptop PC with the small e-link firewire IEEE 1394 Texas Instruments port/chip???
if so, can u tell me which OS are u using? which service pack? any hotfixes?? Drivers??
i have a hp pavilion laptop and ive had really bad experiences with firewire interfaces, from m-audio audiophile fw to MOTU 828 MkII , but i really want the konnekt 8 for my laptop setup.
international mail order is the only option. |

I'm more or less leaning towards a motu ultralite...looks pretty decent for its price, but I dont really know about the compability with intel macs...any experiences there?
rme fireface 400 looks also nice, but one thing bugs me there...it says 2x midi I/O, but I can just see one midi connector on it
dont know anyway if its really 300€ more worth than the motu...
any help would be really apprecated

Does anybody know what's with Yamaha MW12CX USB mixer ? It'll sound silly, but is it actually a sound interface, incorporating Asio drivers (and taking over the midi thing as well ?). I have an usb midi keyboard, and i'm planning to buy a couple of synths, maybe plug a guitar, or even a mic when i need it alltogether, and this little thing seems to handle it sweet and with a classic console interface which I find temtping at this price. In other words, do I need a soundcard as well ?

Hello everyone!!!
I'm new in the scene and i want some advices about!
So...i prefer to produce progressive (like vibrasphere, atmos, antix, fitalic, peter gun) and ambient (ultimae fan)...
i want to recommend me some soundcards, i dont know if the music style that you want to produce is important to choose what soundcard you must to buy! i dont have much hardware, i have only a midi keyboard evolution and a midi controler evolution too and ofcourse a powerful pc! in the near future i want to buy a synth (maybe the nord lead) so...i want recommend me soundcards in this stuff!
i nead your help, is very important to me guys!
thanx a lot! |

hmm seems nobody is really helping here and everyone just asking...
I just wanted to tell that I went for the motu...mainly because I can live without a bit better converters like with the fireface, and better spend the 300€ difference on logic pro
overall I dont really know if the converters of the fireface are really that much better...if I'll need some better ones in the future, I'll be happy that I paid 300 bucks less and invest a bit more for a really good interface with good converters like apogee or metric halo!
other_reality & Kadavr, I cant really help you cause I dont know about those, but SeaFeel, just read thru this thread...you'll get all info you need to start with a pricy interface, and it really doesnt matter what style you want to produce, just what you want to do with the interface
