ok , finally last night i decided to use something else for the basslines other than the industry standard vb-1 and used

1. muon tau pro
2. vanguard
3.v-station
4. audiorealism bassline

and found out that ... all of the above mentioned vsti have a better resolution , fidelity than the vb-1 and infact really sound much better ....

so guys , please stop using the vb-1 , its really not worth the time and effort .. .

respect .. chandan !

I just recently discovered using the Hydra for bass... I really really like it... I tweaked a few parameters on a pad and managed to pull a really nice bass out of it...           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

I've just come to the conclusion that most synths can do good basslines...

For a good bass line we only need a saw osc a amp envelope and a filter envelope...

that's my opinion           roll a joint or STFU :)

welll ....the components u said are exactly the ones u need to make a bassline from any synth ... but what seperates "bassline synths " from ther synths are ...
1. tight and snappy envelopes
2. good sounding oscillators / wavetables
3. FILTER is very very important

if a synth can give u both lp / hp filters to be routed in parallel / serial ... more the killer !

That's why i found the junglist to be better than the vstation for full-on bass: percussive envelopes

i think there's no setting for those in vstation

Depends what kind of sound i am after:

If i want something harsh FM type sound, then i use Yamaha SY77 (RCM +AFM +AWM2 synth)

If i want something deep, warm, floorshaking, no doubt it has to be Novation KS4.

I get deepest sine basses from my Korg MS2000r.

For acid basslines: got two monsters running in synch: MaM MB33 mkII (tb-303 clone) and Doepfer MS-404(tb-303 clone too).

I don't use VSTis so i am not really familiar what's deep or warm in that section, i kind of like to keep my fingers on the real stuff.

I'm not a big fan of external bass or kick... there's almost always a feeling that things aren't sync... still i haven't tried it for almost a year, maybe it was another problem

also, i'm listening to a little noise (hiss) in junglist

I've also got a TG77 FM sample i use when i want the noisy type of bass... just apply filter to it... but junglist can do it to

Couldn't you bounce the external part to wav?
