recommended sampletank libraries ?            Nocturnal Wizardz Recs
Bhooteshwara Records
Cubasing is like Freebasing, just with audio.
Both cost more than you can afford, and leaves you sitting in a dark room with no life, craving for more.

I switched from cubase SX to Logic studio, and would like to ask for tips of 16th basslines with logic synths. So far logic synths are wicked, but have to get to know them a bit

take care,

all all logic synths, like all other plugin inst lacks of low freq dynamics,i only use es2 for fast leads and esm for secondary basslines..
For arranging/seqencing are a fast solution before turning on hardware synths

i too used to be an esm fanatic, till it was reccomended to me to try the es1... i know the esm is a classic for trance basslines, but the es1 is soooo superior its not funny... route it through the logic bass amplifier for that extra boom.. though it will sound muddy a little tweaking will totally clean it up...

es-m is quite easy to make a good trance bassline.

start with a kbbb pattern, i usually use 1/32 and 3/64 notes.
open the knobs of the filter envelope (dec., int. vel.) to 1/3, add a little bit of resonance and some overdrive as well.
then play with the cutoff, amp. decay and velocity. when it sounds acceptable adjust the filter envelopes to your liking.
then you need an eq (fat eq should do). without eq my es-m basslines never sound nice. cut a little between 250 and 750 hz, also very important to cut the bottom (es-m has a lot of subs).
i normally use a compressor side-chained with the kick.
then just tweak till you are satisfied.
sometimes a multiband-distortion or exciter can add more mids. i never needed to use the bass amp with es-m.
i would recommend to sample your bassnotes and load them into kontakt or whatever.
this should only be a strating point, not THE way to do. use your ears and maybe you make the best bassline ever with totally different settings...

boom

sorry 4 posting 2 times, but...

raoul, how to hell you made this bassline with the es1?
i really love the sound of the es1, but i never managed to remove the mud and add enough subs when doing basslines. maybe the secret is in the bass amp or i just didn't spent enough time for tweaking...
if there are some tips you could give me, i would appreciate a lot.

thanks

WOW. Just almost blew my speakers. Creepers.

You have it very very dangerous settings on the eq is see. This is similar sound to your clip but not quite the same

What did you do to tone the levels when making your clip? you use the faders or eq different?

Practically, you need to make sure you're not clipping anywhere on your way to the master, not in a channel and not in a bus, only then you can be sure you're having the best sound quality

clipping on the channel is allowed
many well known prducers are doing it

If I upgrade to 10.5, will I still be able to use all my plugins? Or do you have to reinstall everything? Some stuff was given to me and I cant get it again so Im scared that if I upgrade Ill lose it all.

Thanks

yeap sangeet, but we were talking about the master output!
I think it is because logic works internally with a floating point bitdepth

@ juggernaut: I wouldnt upgrade to leopard yet, too many bugs!           https://soundcloud.com/hazak
