help me please, the audio preview in the finder on tiger showed up like a quicktime player with a progress bar u could move as u wanted. The Leopard audio preview doesnt give u that option. Any way of changing it back to the old way? or any third party application that will do? thanks in advance.

dai, i like your avatar.
circle vst rocks.

Macpeeps,
I am composing on logic right now because of a class I am taking at school...
And coming from renoise (a tracker, not a sequencer), I must say that I don't really enjoy logic.

Now cubase seems to be preferred by most on this forum (?)... So I am willing to try it...
so my question to those who have tried both : What makes cubase better than logic?
and does it run well on mac?

Cubasing is like Freebasing, just with audio.
Both cost more than you can afford, and leaves you sitting in a dark room with no life, craving for more.

Hei Folks great tips so far, but I have a general question that I think am missing and wow it is almost unbelievable if it is true. I have worked a lot with cubase, with ableton live and with logic from its famous release for PC v5.5 to the latest Mac Logic Pro 8. Until now I have never felt into the discussion which is the best because i have obtained great results using the three of them, but lately I have came across with a "problem" or better to say an Essential Missing Part in Logic that makes me almost Hate this software despite of all great new instruments, effects, etc it has. It is the TIMESTRETCHING!!! Please am I missing something in Logic or there is realy NO realtime, warplike timestretching in Logic??? Timestretching exists in Cubase from its earlier versions and it is so much fun playing with it. One can just drag away the sample to fit the tempo grid and it automatically fits using the cubase great stretching algorithms. Or one can Draw its Timestretching Curves as one likes, transposing the audio in very unusual ways, and not speaking about Ableton where the whole audio engine is based on timestretching. God, HOW IS IT POSSIBLE that Logic still does not have this so simple functions? Sure there is this old fashioned archaic Time-machine on Logic but this is for static timestreching...? an if I want a dynamic one? that follows a curve, up and down or whatever??? I have tried automating the pitchhifter but this is so pathetic...

So please guys help me on this? Am I missing something? or is there some "tips" that can take me out of this unpleasant situation...? or I will just uninstall this "UN"logic monster from my Mac and will stick to Live and Cubase... despite of the superb Ultrabeat, Sculpture and all other really great improvements in logic Pro 8...

Hugs to all

ou YES! thank you so much friends. It works really! but still a way to achieve automation-like transpose? I mean following an automation curve? so to achieve down or up sweeps? i dont know... in cubase and live this is so easy...

yeah.. osx 10.5.2 on an ASUS G1S notebook

recognized as a MACBOOKPRO

Im just trying the OSX world first... but the first
thing that Im stucked is with some VST that I use
in windows that there arent for mac.

I got a copy of Logic 8 to evaluate, but all the synths
that come with the box doesnt have the presets...

Is there any way to get them?? Im really interested in buying a MAC hardware, but I want to have sure, cause
its expensive...

The first impressive thing was the fidelity of sound in logic. I use Ableton on windows to produce, I dont know if its only my mind, but I really saw(heard) the diference in audio. (dont know if its from windows to mac or ableton to logic, but there is some difference)

Thanks guys.

Congratulations...
1. Some vst's for PC dont exsist for Mac, this will probally never change.
2. regarding logic and presets, versions etc... either you buy the full package, or "steal" it from the internet, Logic 8 has no copy protection (im not encouraging crime!)
3. Regarding buying a mac; now why would you do that, when you already discovered this fantastic oppotunity ?
