argggghhhhhhhhhh!!! die!!! die!!! die!!!

i know rewinds are part of jungle's culture and history and all that. but goddamn every single fucking time i heard a dj do a rewind in all the years of hearing jungle djs, i just wanted to throw my beer bottle straight into his motherfucker head. every. single. time. so you got a killer new whitelabel and the whole place is just going nuts and you want to play it again. great. mix it into something else for 8 or 16 measures. rewind your golden dub without killing my vibe. and bring it back again. what's so complicated about that? but doing the fucking rewind and waiting for 20 seconds while every body screams and then starting it again is just the worst vibe-killer for me. doing this to me while i'm going nuts and jumping off the walls is completely fucking counterintuitive. thanks a lot, dick.

fuck.

If you break that rules you should be doomed with trainwrecking and broken mixer

Rule Number 1 - Pffffft , ive done it many times as an opener and closer for my set..

Mainly did it as the beginning of this certain track was nice and chilled - so i only played half of it - then mixed out - then as my last track - i mixed in the remaining half of the track and let it finish... Worked out great.

Rule number 2 - This one i gotta laugh at - Why not? Many times i have broken this - wether it be Unr, Old or new.. If it fits - and the dancers love it - then dont hold back i say

Rule Number 3 - I sorta agree, but if you maybe talk to the artist before you play - and you maybe say what track you want to play - and ask if there going t play it - If they say no - then go for it!

rules are there to help and yes everybody is allowed to break them whenever he feels like nothing against it

for me a good rule is like an advice
as an example dont pee against the wind or on electricity

all i wanted is to start a discussion about good rules that help
along the way

if you are creative in what you are doing and know what you do every rule can be broken

i heard amazing sets where djs played one track during the whole set fading out and in the main theme of the track
and it was awesome

i heard people play the same artist tracks after the other
with skill and creativity

also saw djs playing tracks from live acts with prior discussion and consent

why i posted the rules is because i saw so many bad examples
in my 20 years of djing and going to parties
and the three things i posted are things that stuck out to me
as very bad and mood breaking and just pure ego trips when done with no consideration of the party nor the people involved

again if you know what you do !!!
keep doing it and have fun
if not, better start with good rules

just to point out again a rule is not a law
and perhaps another good example of a rule
is never light up a spliff on the filter side
wont get you high or you are already too high

as for taking things sooo serious i guess i should have put some smileys in my first post
my mistake

so people lighten up and be creative not negative
and free your mind and your ass will follow

we wanna dance and have fun

a few rules i would like 2 promote too:

1. always take ur beer off the table when ur done (unless its still full..)
2. when meeting on stage b4 the swap give a big kiss
3. after ur set get into the "psy scene elders" group in the back facing the stage, and share ur inexhaustible pool of knoledge with cool looking ppl like urself.

i agree on that one           "The dedication to repetition — the search for nirvana in a single held tone or an endlessly cycling rhythm — is one of electronic music's noblest gestures."

1. agreed. But it depends on the dj and his way (and how many hours in between the tracks.

2. pff

3. no comment

and yes no rules is the best rule with common sense

on that note, imo. when you bring the people deep below In the shadow of the valley of experience. make sure you lead them back up to some fresh air and lightened energy level.

1. always fiddly with the knobs on the side not playing so you always look busy

2. never shag the promoters teenage daughter on the decks

3. always ask the hippy groupie chicas to wash down there before inserting your man power stick!
