1. Thou shalt not threaten the health of your listeners ears with redlining levels or you shall pay with tinnitus for the rest of your days.
2. Thou shalt not induce bad trips in your "enhanced" crowd intentionally by horrible self deprecating music or you shall suffer from depression.
3. Thou shalt respect the sound engineer.
4. Thou shalt never stop mixing if there is nobody slated to play after you. The music must never die!!           ein chadash tachat hashemesh. there is nothing new under the sun. --kohelet.

not play the same music twice, or play a music that has already been played in the party.

for me thats the only one           ``We shall not cease from exploration - And the end of all our exploring - Will be to arrive where we started - And know the place for the first time.``

I personally totally disagree with this one.

I have heard a few DJs use part of a track as an intro and then finish the set with it, and sometimes even tease some bits of that track into the set at different points.

This coincides with a lot of classical and for me shows an excellent understanding of structure which too many DJs clearly haven't grasped.

i think the main thing is that we as djs dont try to be static
or just plain too simple

i think its important to push yourself to new boundaries
and ideas

so if you just play the same track twice in a set without tweaking or cutting parts or just use themes to float on top of other tracks
its just stupid and boring and you shouldnt call yourself a dj
perhaps a jukebox yes

so be creative inspiring and use ur imagination to go forward
and give the people on the dance floor your best they deserve it

so try not to ruin the term dj with some boring one track after the other with no mix at all and no taste

there is only one dj i dont care about how he mixes
and he got way better by the way and also he uses dat players with no way to adjust speed,(there is ways nowadays but thats another story )
and what ever you will say about him he is just a different experience and i had some of the best parties with him
you know who i mean the one you either hate or love

as i said only one dj i can stand to listen playing one track after the other
and i have to say he cuts the "boring" parts out so
its ok

i dont say he plays 24h what i like
but he plays music that is always inspiring and way ahead before the rest of the world seems to notice

other than that i never heard somebody that just plays tracks that inspired me

im sure you know who im talking about
and again i dont wanna go offtopic here
there is pelnty of discussion already about this dj
in the dj section

so here its about what helps newcomers and what are funny things to avoid

one story i can share what to avoid is fucking the organisers
girlfriend before the party and then the organiser finds out comes running after the you while you play and tries to kick your ass

was a friend of mine bad choice
i just stepped in and played for him while the organiser
played cat and mouse

+1 especially if you are playing your own music. Its only 10 quid to join now as well.
I used to get 70 quid when my tunes where played on BBC Radio 1.

Ok, one thing, is you start a set with a track, and finish your set with the same last half of the track.

But, like one party I went. One dj played a entire music, ok. The next DJ, afeter him, played the same music. For you can be ok, but for me it`s not. Looks like te second DJ was with his set already programed and doesnt have competency to make a little change in his set since the music that he programed to play someone played before him. I tought i was moving to the past
anyways.....sucks!! But in your example is ok.           ``We shall not cease from exploration - And the end of all our exploring - Will be to arrive where we started - And know the place for the first time.``
