i herby declare the three major rules of what a dj should never ever do...!

1. Never play the same track twice -

2. Never play tracks from the same artist after the other -

3. Never play a track from upcoming liveact that performs at the same party after you -

If you break that rules you should be doomed with trainwrecking and broken mixer

and for all the people out there who think this is sarcasm...

THIS IS NOT A JOKE I mean it

4. Let the DJ before you play his set without you jetting/wah'ing his CDJs and playing around with his EQs.

5. Don't adjust the pitch on the other guy's CDJ if you're mixing out of his last track.

Sorry but I think rule number 2 is a complete nonsence. Rule number 3 is a good one while rule number 1 can be easily broken with good results by a capable dj.           -------------- Dark & Twisted Night Psy --------------

Why do there need to be any frigging rules?

I'm the dj, I'm the one behind the decks and I am in control, if you don't like what I'm playing then why did you come to hear me?

I have broken all three rules and

1. Have had a many a good reaction by playing the same track as opener and closer.

2. Have done sets based entirely on track by one artist, also went down a treat with the crowd

3. been told by live acts it has been smooth to mix into there own track being played last in a set, rather than waiting for the track to end and starting their set from silence.

fuck the rules! up yours!           I hate you, you hate me, we are all so hap hap happy!

Definitely don’t agree with rule # 2

Rules number 1 & 3 though, yeah, that seems like common sense. Actually number 3 can be ok if you get approval from the artist.

I have to disagree with rule 2 as well. There are some artists that actually make different sounding or styled tracks, and sometimes two tracks from the same artists played back to back can get you from one feel to another. I can understand that rule if you are basically mixing the same sounding track, but if the artist makes these two tracks that fit in a transition from one feel to another, then it's fine.

I also don't really agree with rule 5 so much, especially if you're planning on mixing out of the track, sometimes lineups aren't crafted with the flow of the music in mind and transitions between two djs with significantly different styles can be a little harsh without some sort of ease in period.

Also with rule 3, if the guy before me plays a track of mine I had no intention on playing in the set, then that's more than ok. However it kinda would suck for some acts that have a limited library of tunes to play or are playing a prearranged set.           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

rule nr 1 - you don´t talk about rules

rule nr 6 - you have to have good taste

rule nr 7 - play what you like, but you have to get the crowd moving, make a symbiose with it, and above all, make a dj set with beggining, middle and end , for other words make it well structured, don´t mix only baninging music with no sense...           ...

Disagree with all 3 rules!

My rules:

1. have fun! dance! smile! that's why it's called "to play"

2. have fun! dance! smile! that's why it's called "to play"

3.have fun! dance! smile! that's why it's called "to play"

have a nice weekend y'all

As long as you take the crowd on a musical journey that you both enjoy is all that counts           -------------- Dark & Twisted Night Psy --------------

i see i have to explain a few things more so also the idiots
and would like to be understand

about rule number 1 clearly there is people out there
who think they should play the same track twice
you can do whatever you wanna do i dont stop you
but just to give you an example if you hear the rmx money for nothing 3 times in the same dj set you are ready to go up there and kick the guys ass

anyway so about rule number 2 its so easy to play tracks from the same artist after the other every idiot can do that
very creative and challenging
if its collaboration tracks a different story
but playing one kindzadza track after the other i can let my itunes do that

about number 3 if you talk to the live act that is different.
but if a dj plays the hits or even unreleased tracks from live acts that is embarrasing and i saw it happen many times and there was no open dialog involved and i know many live acts and they all told me this story a lot of times

so a general thing as clearly some of you dont have the understanding or proper behaviour (up yours - very creative and intelligent lol)
if you talk to the live acts and ask them thats a whole different ballgame
but just playing what you like and dont care is just a big egotrip

also perhaps i have to point that rules means guidelines!!!
rules and law are two different things,
again shows me the level of understanding of some user here

if there wouldnt be rules so try to beatmatch a track with different bpm and not changing the speed and see if rules dont apply

anyway perhaps one thing i have to point out too
i didnt come up with this rules...

they were made from the first goa djs like laurent, goa gil, fred disko ,red baron etc .

not that i care what you do or think is right just wanted to point out again where the whole thing is coming from
and clearly writing in big letters doesnt help either
to show the humor in it

so have a good day and looking forward to more creative answers and not just stupid ego trips and foul language

Mate, you cannot come on here and post this bullshit and not expect some of the people who actually dj at events and have some talent to not have a reaction.

And I don't give a rat's ass who made the rules!

And if you seriously knew anything about dj's, the real originators waaaaay back before this music even existed mixed without any of the gear we have today, and some of those old mixes are done better than your Fred Disko's and Gil's.

Who the hell are you or anyone to tell any of use how the hell to do our job?

A dj has complete creative freedom to mix and create a musical journey using the music in his stash bag/book.

And you know what, mixing some KDD's older more organic sounding stuff with his high tempo glitchy stuff isn't as easy as you make it sound, it take a lot of eq'ing and adjusting the volume level and being a dj in general!

Your so far up your own arse you can't see that your OP and your second mindless rant are the most egotistical of the lot!

Go back to your little self involved world and get over yourself!

BTW the releases in your sig are like 2 years old, you might consider an update !           I hate you, you hate me, we are all so hap hap happy!
