Nitrous oxide has been safely used as a mild anesthetic for over 150 years. Problems with its use come primarily from carelessness. Potential problems include :
Brain injury and suffocation can result from lack of oxygen. When used as an anesthetic, nitrous is always administered in combination with oxygen. Never use nitrous in any manner that does not provide for adequate oxygen intake.
Note that it is not necessary to feel shortness of breath or a sense of oxygen deprivation in order for the body to be dangerously short of oxygen. The sensation of being unable to breathe comes as a result of unusually high levels of carbon dioxide (CO2) rather than low levels of oxygen. Because of this, people who inhale pure nitrous oxide or other gases do not have the sensation of being unable to breathe, despite not getting enough (or any) oxygen. It is quite possible to suffocate while breathing pure nitrous oxide without ever feeling discomfort or a shortness of breath.
Never strap a gas mask to your face while using pure nitrous as it is possible to black out and die from lack of oxygen.
Never use a garbage bag as a delivery device. It is possible (and has happened) to black out and suffocate when the bag falls over the nose and mouth.
Never open a tank of nitrous in a sealed room, closet, car, or other space.
Very cold temperatures of the gas can freeze the lips and throat if taken directly from a tank or whippit. Releasing the gas into a balloon first allows the gas to warm before being administered.
High levels of pressure may rupture blood vessels in the lungs and force air into the chest cavity, causing the lungs to collapse. This is primarily a problem when nitrous is being administered directly from a tank or other pressurized container. Again, releasing the gas into a balloon first eliminates this risk.
Heavy and frequent nitrous use can deplete vitamin B12 in the body and lead to serious and unpleasant neurological problems. Users may experience tingly fingers and toes, or in more severe cases, numbness of all extremeties. Taking B12 supplements, especially in combination with multi vitamin and complete amino acid supplements, may help alleviate this problem. If you experience these symptoms, cease nitrous use immediately and if the symptoms persist, seek medical attention. See Nitrous & B-Vitamin Dangers.
Careless use of nitrous oxide can also cause nausea, vomiting, and disorientation, primarily from inhaling too much, too soon.
Since nitrous produces a temporary loss of motor control and dissociation, it's extremely unwise to inhale it while standing or while in any situation where unconsciousness is dangerous.
Some users of nitrous report headaches and generalized discomfort for an hour or more after inhalation.
Nitric Oxide, a toxic industrial gas, is occasionally mistaken for Nitrous Oxide. Users should be careful they know what they are inhaling. Inhaling Nitric Oxide can permanently damage the lungs or kill.

now imagine having your lungs only work @ 15% capacity.. dance for 2 minutes and you just simply cannot go on.. run for a minute and be short of breath.. etc..

Over here in Belgium we sometimes have balloon dealers @ parties ... and I hate it , I never ever tried it because it's irritant to see people ruin the dancefloor atmosphere .. people falling on the floor with this fake smile on their face , just horrible ...
also the amount of amfetamines and mdma users is getting bigger and bigger ... sometimes when I go to a party the vibe is just weak , only drugged up people that don't matter what music dj's are playing , only interested in the drug effects. the main reason why I don't like to go to a party anymore .
this morning there was a really big razzia in a party where Astral Projection performed live here in Belgium ... people were arrested but no violence was used , it even was the second newstopic on our commercial tv channel ... anyway , things like this will happen more in the future if the dope will remain an important subject in the scene...

First, about nice ppl that claim that Avishay is full of crap.. well it is both untrue ( maybe I am mistaken, but that what I think about this person ) and also very ugly thing to say to a person u don't know so well Ananda604..
Secondly, about the balloons - Personally, as one that sees this from the side I find the balloons rather disgusting and have NOTHING to do really with plur, trance or any of the other drugs used in trance parties.. Actually all my friends without exception dislike this a lot..
But, since we are a democracy  I don't really care if someone ( or a lot of ppl ) like this.. They can do it as much as they want, as long as they clean after themselves ( this is SOOOOOOOO disgusting to see in the end all the ground and all the surroundings full of balloons.. ) but --------> since the tendency from the last summer season ( and this is said as an ex party organizer ) is that heavy criminals started doing this and the thing went WAY BEYOND the limits, and not once and not twice party organizers were threatened with knives etc.. I believe that this fashion is very bad for our scene and destroys much more than it helps ( for those that enjoy the fun of inhalation )
I believe that first of all it is ORGANIZERS RESPONSIBILITY to make all the uninvited gangs of balloon dealers not to come to parties. If that should be done violently then it should be like that. In the last party Compost and me made, we turned around some 6 cars with balloons in them, and all full of arsim and criminals.. For that we used 7 bouncers at the door and instructed them to deal with these ppl with extreme prejudice and so they did. No one entered our party. Ofcourse to bring a lot of serious bouncers one has to invest money - but if u want to kill this habit that is the only way.
Check out Twins or ex Oma Coma parties. No one that they don't want inside gets inside - it is just that simple. I wish all the party organizers would do the same. I would enjoy much more for sure.

Well traveller, it doesn't look that funny when u actually see them. I wouldnt let ( or at least try to talk out of ) my kid go around with this kind of company.. These are usually quite hideous looking creatures that passed their youth, if I can say so, some 20 years ago, and you dont want to meet them even on a well lit alley

just to clearify some things :
* even if people on "e" would look like monsters, all the damage they could ever do is hug someone to sickeness, or just tell them how much they love him..... not smash a bottle on his brain. so you can preaty much say im "down with that"... or just say that i prefer one to the other (for some reason).
* even when it makes you feel good, at least admit that you can see the people that it makes them feel bad... not bad physically,but bad mentally. if you cant say you see them.... next time look around when you go get your baloon. while you are at it, take a closer look at the ballon guy... do you want him dancing next to you ???
* medically speaking this drug is BAD. if you dont believe ask around... ask your denstist, believe me he has NO reason to lie to you, and he knows BEST.

be reasonable here, its not so farfetched to think that us, the people who go to parties cant help them exist. this is only up to us to do, party orginizers should ofcourse do as much as they can, like yuli sayd, to prevent this from happening.
but it cant always be acheived... in the end it will be a party for baloon dealers and the few who like them and are nice, and the many who like them and are..... you know...

God this is a strange idea. I've heard of nitrous oxide many times, but i've never seen anyone here selling or "consuming" balloons...

No I believe it's mostly comon in Israel that most don't use bouncers or very few bouncers. And I can understand that people are afraid to invest in many professional bouncers since it's never sure if the party will be closed by the Police before it even start. I would too be careful to invest heavily on the bouncers if there was a big chance that I would loose lot's of money on it. But it's for sure a big problem in Israel with the ballon dealers (that also result in violence and theft ect) but as long as the situation is like it is with the Police I doubt you'll see many parties with professional bouncers.

And if the high lasts a few hours, what's the point anyway???
Here in Brazil we have a similar drugs, launch perfume (chloroform + Ether + something else), and I don't like parties where everyone is smelling this drug just because people get crazy and throw the glass bottle on the ground...
In my country raves are famous for having no fights or any kind of violence, but people use loads of drugs, it's incredible how may different drugs you can see at a party.
I'm not doing drugs these days, but I don't have anything against them. IMO drugs are not the problem, the problem is that people has no education and that people go to party not for the music and vibes, but for another reasons (girls, drugs, fashion, etc).
