How much money do you have to spend?
Laptop or desktop?
Surround?
Midi?
What i/o options do you want?

If cash isn't a problem get the UAD-1

hi! actually i had experiance with lots of hardware and the most reliable soud card for me is creamware pulsar\sfp 3. its making your sound be warm like its out from fire!
the dsp power is doing great job with plugins and instruments! and the most aff all-pulsar\sfp is like your own studio! you can make any setup you whant any mixer any sound stile! its like have your own studio in the computer! amaising!

(by the way lot of producers dont know hpow exacly to use dsp power on pulsar!and cant get the moust fine mix on thei sound! see for manual ,how to use it! and you will be surprised!)

cheers

yeah i have a pulsar scope/sp, its my first try with a pro soundcard , at the beggining i was cursing the day i bought this soundcard because it was a bitch to understand since you dont get a manual with it (only a pdf file, not a little book as i was hoping for).
now after 6 months of working with it every day i have to say that it is AWESOME, the sound quality is amazing, latency is low as hell and routing is a piece of cake. time lock is right, i think alot of pro artists use creamware cards because they have so much processing power that you dont even have to worry about cpu .
the thing is i dont know if its in your price range.
check out www.creamware.de and press english on the left frame.

creamware can be good, if you plug analog gears find low latency cards : I like terratec ones           ~~~~~~~~~~

Hi there, i would go for a M-audio Delta card with multiple inputs and outputs first. Then after some time (and moneysaving) i would buy a TC Powercore DSP card, this card appears to have the best software reverb around and it has good dynamics processors as well.
