The Experience & The Future
THE EXPERIENCE

Greetings everyone.

We hope everybody is back to their usual self and back to the daily routines of life. We like to take this moment, to thank each and everyone who attended Shanti Jatra Organic Festival. The dancers, the artists, deco crew, volunteers, the production crew, the amazing vibe, the happy villagers and shamans who were an integral part of the gathering. This to us, by far was the best edition that we put up keeping in mind many aspects of a festival. We had given employment to over 200 people from the village and promoted their local practices (shamans and others) and their art. This was well received by them and from the experience, we felt that this was also well received by all the people who took part in the festival. They were extremely happy with the support.

We also feel that musically this was also the most diverse gathering we had to offer. For the time it lasted, we saw the amazing vibe across the dancefloor area and how people were enjoying the music with the breathtaking valley view as the backdrop. We hope that we have satisfied everyone with the music on 2 stages, the shaman area and all other activities present at the festival.

It was extremely disappointing for us to stop the music on the 2nd night. We would like to let you know that the pressure was so high from the ministry that the police mentioned to us that they have no option but to ask us to stop it. Inspite of them being so cooperative and providing security to the festival, there were other forces which were quite adamant on stopping this gathering, inspite of us having all necessary permissions in place. Else they would have been forced to take action and shut down the entire thing. They had asked the crew to meet them in the morning and put across certain things and continue the music in the morning. The sudden death of Deepesh (who was so integral in the whole production of the festival) made things even more complicated, as that would mean that the media would be taken by surprise completely and the next immediate step that would follow was to arrive at the festival with their whole team and the police force, which is not good for te festival at all. Hence, keeping in mind your safety (our top priority) we had arranged for everybody to evacuate the site. The tension and the anxiety and also being a heart patient, did not help Deepesh in this cause and this led to his demise. This was probably the most difficult and heart breaking situation of our life, to be in the midst of both. But we believe that we did this in the best interest of the people.

We are also extremely happy the way people conducted themselves. Being aware about the use of banned substances and such, definitely helped, as that is why the police could not even shut down the festival, as that was the only thing they came to look for, and more so, to even forcefully find somebody and plant that on them to shut the event down. So we are glad that the people did not overdo anything at the event and we advise everybodyy to keep it that way, and to respect laws and regulations. Having said that, the media as always is just wanting to blow things out of proportion. They obviously will never see the good side, but always focus on the negative things. They are more aware of the events in Nepal now than before as we discovered that through some conversations. What happened to us could happen else where as well. We advise everybody to keep this in mind and to conduct themselves in a rightful manner.

THE FUTURE

We are always evolving. And hence this edition was exactly meant for that, as we opened our ideas and thoughts to infuse many styles of music and activities. Unfortunately, it did not last long.
Over the 3 years, we lost 2 of our very dear friends and key planners of the event, which is a huge loss for us more than anything. This is quite demotivating in its nature. But the vision of these two people was to make it large with the right vibe. Hence, we will try to keep it going. So what is the future? We do not exactly yet. But yes, it would partially mean that the nature of the event or this gathering will be slightly different and on a larger scale. We did build the platform over the last 5 years. But things change and it is to move on. We are always on the lookout for new ideas and presentations. And this is what will come out in future. It could have commercial aspects/interests, which may not please everybody, but we hope that you would respect our decision, and continue to support as you have done these many years. What we will strive to give as always, is the vibe!
The concept could be new, an amalgamation of different lifestyles and practices. But you can be sure that, we will keep the spirit alive !! The memory of our lost ones is something that will keep us going.
We hope that you will join us in this new leaf of life. This is the time we need your support the most.
We belive that you will continue to do so. Till next time!!

We will be back!!!

SJ this year had the makings of the best festival this side of the planet, everything was done with the utmost professionalism. The venue was one of the most beautiful spots on this planet. The stages and sound were perfect! No compromise anywhere, it was surreal to see it actually happening.

Can't quantify the thanks to all who've put their sweat, blood and tears into this for the last two years, and those two before.

It was an absolute pleasure reuniting with old friends and seeing how we've all grown together, the human connection created by the Shanti Jatra Festival is something that is forever... the best of which remains in loving memory of our two brothers.

Had the greatest time at SJOF. Still recovering from the shock loss of Deepesh. It was really a terrible moment. Having said that, everything else was jsut amazing till it lasted. Stellar music from everyone, the chill stage was lovely, the shamans were cute! ( ) .. and the warm support from the villagers in involving us with their local art. It was truly a moment that will never be forgotten.

Big thanks to all who came and danced in that truly heavenly place.

Well organized festival, small things which make or break a festival were taken care of like clear labeling of all areas were clearly marked for tents, chill area, toilets etc. this is quite important!

Tents were numbered with prints clearly.Toilets were enough and shower was good, both were well organized. They were clear menu's put up at the food area making it more organized and easy hunting for food and drinks.

Location was great.Music the first night was banging, cheers to all the artists.

Personally i think sound could have been better, i think it lacked the bass like mountain madness had last year, mm had put a whole line of subwoofers in the bottom of the stage apart from the drivers in the speakers itself to give it that clear undistorted easy flowing bass for dancing.

Unfortunate circumstances led to early closure, only if would have gone on for the entire duration this fest could have been one of a kind.

But this highly questions the future of big festivals i think you need to do it like mm crew in a proper star resort with sponsors etc.

It was not all a waste as i had a great time in nepal visiting many places with the fest just being a part of my visit but the people who came especially just for the festival all the way from india and other parts were rather disappointed.

R.I.P deepesh,sj org's your effort was clearly evident while the festival lasted.
