i ve been checking some demos of some artists that people mentioned here ....
i think it sounds more like progressive than house...
i say this cause mostly of this artists use progressive like synths and groove tunes... but i still doesnt feel it like whole house.
let me explain my self... as i get it, house is a style wich uses grooovy elements with a retro 70´s feeling.
and in the other hand, i get progressive like a more futuristic house, using more deep synths, and more melodic and less funky tunes.
so i heard some demos that could be considered like psychedelic house, but most of wot i ve heard i think its prog... i loved it but still cant find the sound im xpecting.

fully agree with you , we are all part of that house nation ( jack s house ... Larry Heard aka mr fingers ) .... for the young people here that dont know who is the man ... you can search in google ! this was the house spirit at the beginning...the groove of all groove 
i mean that techno, trance, house and whatever useless sub division that were created in the last 17 years are all part of the house nation ! and for sure house can be psychedelic ! anyway ...what is psychedelic ?? so subjectiv notion ... |

I think there's alot of psychedlic influences & atmospheres in house music by some artists...
Tech House & Minimal house genres i think fall verry well in that criteria...
See examples such as Petter - Some Polyphony
Johanes Heil - The Magician (Thomas Schumacher)
Producers like Trentemoller, Stephan Bodzin, Thomash Schumacher, Lazy Fat people...hold alot of psychedelic power IMO when now days the so called real Psy Trance producers are loosing it and becoming so far off from Psychedlic & trippy, so predictable & so repitative...

Hmmmm no.. Deep House is definitely something very quiet, close to chilled beats.

Deep House has got nothing to do with chilled beats. It's very danceable music with a deeper edge. And could be considered quite trippy or as I prefer to call it.. Hypnotic.
Most of the examples mentioned in this topic and what people so happily want to adopt into the psytrance scene and call House is nothing but psytrance and fullon slowed down. Nothing much to do with House at all.

house can definately be psychedelic....its absolutely ridiculous to suggest that a certain genre of music cant be psy...psy is in the eye of the beholder...if psytrance at 145bpm can be psychedelic and prog trance can be psychedelic at 135+bpm then why cant prog house/tribal house/deep house etc that is 128+bpm be psychedelic. it has absolutely nothing to do with tempo, structure, sounds, rhythms etc. it has to do with what each individual listening to a certain track at a certain moment in time feels from that song. period.
im sicking of hearing the same old discussion of my track is more psy than your track...its stupid...they can both be psy and thats it. they can be psy and played in clubs. they can be psy and be 60bpm. its all fucking psy if it sounds psychedelic to you!

what on earth is psychedellic house ??? sry man .. no exist such an abomination .. lol .. just because this music u heard had 4/4 beat and some similar percussion , pads etc as u may have in some psy tracks dont mean its psychedellic !
house music is for clubs and fashion shows and general non psy events and such , and thouth it may be enjoyable , dancy , groovy and cool to listen and shake ur boots , ..it remains `house music` ..

lol.. No, I meant beh! .. Then when following this ideology. rock music bla bla bla, ..it remains 'rock music' ..
But you can still have rock music with psychedelic influences just as one can make "house" music with psychedelic influences. Who ever said "trance" (145BPM) is the main owner of the term "psychedelic"? Now if you'll excuse me, I'm about to produce some psychedelic opera.

Isn't "acid-House" a genre by it self? And what’s more psychedelic then acid? People and their subjective opinions tsk tsk tsk 
it's like saying that Orbital/Underworld isn't psychedelic because it's acid-trance and not psy-trance.

Now I see many people mention progressive trance acts as psychedelic house because of the label etc Iboga..All these electro progressive stuff can't be psychedelic because of all these artists have connection and past in psy trance scene..They lost their psychedelia. Mark Allen and Electric Tease is the A-Z in what I call psy house in my head!Now do you know what's happening in the whole dance scene?Do you know projects like Cantrip People (Robert Leiner,The Source Experience)Minilogue (many people think that Minilogue is still on "Leeloo" sound)Extrawelt(The Midi Miliz guys hit the techno scene),Donato Dozzy,Pascal Feos,Sween n Candy,Thomas Schumacher,Motor,Gabriel Ananda,Sleeparchive,Martinez (listen the track Mount Lao) and many more!Try to listen stuff from these projects and for sure you'll find some serious psy music and don't give a shit how is labeling in the market

Acid House is a name that was coined many many years ago (almost 20). I'm not sure how much it's relevant nowadays but it referred to artists like 808 State, The Shamen and stuff. I might be wrong there but the term is quite outdated. And mr Spytoones you should check this Mixed CD: http://www.discogs.com/release/638428 It will make you forget Psykovsky. Some really trippy tunes there.

either you didnt read my post properly or you're an idiot cause i clearly said that beats, percussion, pads etc have very little to do with how one percieves a song to be psy. u may think that a certain 303 synth is psychedelic in a fav trance track of your's but someone else may disagree, does that mean that song isnt psy? NO! it means u think its psy and someone else doesnt...ITS ALL A MATTER OF OPINION!!! remember the word 'psychedelic' existed wayyyyyyy before the genre of psytrance existed. people have been having psychedelic experiences wayyyyy before doofs and psytrance existed! anything can be psychedelic! |
