hey guys,
hope every ones doin fine..

theres this thought i had, so wanted to share and get opinions on..

Psytrance and Rock have been to genres which has a cult following, Psytrance itself has been influenced by several genres, but it tends to slant more towards rock..
most of our popular djs/artists have been rockers before they got into psy, the kinda people that listen to these two styles are more or less the same (wht i mean is, people love their style of music, whether psy or rock, they love it to the core, which is not real for any other genre)

also the fact that, when rock tunes are mixed with psy, it makes a killer track, most of the time, when done nicely..

again the the people involved in both these styles are more crazy in the head than others who like pop, hiphop or other styles

there are several similarities between the two genres, but i cant really get to the crux..
maybe u guys can throw some light..

and finally let me say "PSYTRANCE ROCKS"

Is this based on facts or is it pure speculations? I fail to see that so many people came from Rock and personally I cant stand Guitars in trance. It's rarely psychedelic at all. But that's my personal opinion.

its not speculations, its a fact..

i didnt say all our artists/djs have been into rock, i said most of them..

its a fact that psy is influenced by many styles, but when it comes to full on, guitar sounds do create alot of energy..

also its a fact that no other genre besides rock and psy has cult following of people, and these are the people who love their music to the core, and i am sure alot of people here would agree to wht i have said,
there are bound to be spill over crowd in every scene, who are just there for the hake of it, but people who last long, are the true lovers of music, a pure cult.. thats wht i meant rockers and ravers/trancers etc..

respect

The energy created by guitars is just agressive it is not healing it's like when you useed to go to Techno parties instead of guitars there was the kick! It's just another agressive type of music it has nothing to do with my beliefs at least! I hate this chemical crew stuff and a lot of commercial sounds in it too to make it even better lolol But anyway just my opinion!

First of all you cant really as such compare Rock to Full On or for that matter any other genre in our scene. Why? Because Rock is everyman's music whereas our scene's music still is limited to the few (yes we are not THAT many).

Secondly I see it as your own speculations. Why? Because you haven't provided any proof whatsoever that almost every Full On artist come from the Rock "scene". maybe it's just what you like to think instead of facts?

Third. Most artists I know (and it's many) come from many many different genres such as reggae, pop, Rock (yes some do come from Rock - even Dead Metal), techno, House, classical music, Jazz ect ect. see my point?

4th: What i see here is yet one of those attempts to paint a picture that we are unique and that our music is much more special than other genres. IT's NOT !

Lst: Why use a word like cult? I did not know that Full On people or any other people in our scene are brainwashed fanatics? Or maybe they are in the Full On genre? You tell me!

Rock??
Well, yeah, probably everybody has been listening to some rock music sometimes, but to call rock a major influence in psy is imo very far fetched.

Yes but that doesn't mean they come from the rock scene now does it?           "The dinosaurs became extinct because they didn't have a space program."

Sorry it's not to bash you or anything but:

Of course we (or at least some I hope) respect good Rock but we also respect a lot of other genres and it's artists and those artists and genres have a equal strong hold on their listeners too. I still fail to see your point. care to enlighten me?

Say that to the rockers. "W00t, you listen to techNoo, that's garbage, doesn't take any skillz, blah blah..." for real man. Or maybe it's just me meeting prejudice rockers. What ever the case I do agree with you on the "PSYTRANCE ROCKS" part           "The dinosaurs became extinct because they didn't have a space program."

In fact djparanormal got a point.
I can say that I've seen allot of israeli ppl around my age (late 20's) that used to be regulars at the "death to techno" nights in the legendary "Roxen" club in tel-aviv.
isn't it ironic...
If you want names so theres a few:
Micha (Echotek) used to play guitar for a doom metal group called "Substance for God".
Itzik Levy (Sandman) used to play Keyboards for another doom metal group called "Orphand Land".
and i don't think you need to wonder to much about the musical origins of Dark Soho, Tim Schultdz, Skazy or S.U.N Project...

Rock is definatly NOT one of the musical origins of trance music. But, at least in the Israeli scene (which I'm familiar with), quite allot of ppl that used to listen to heavy metal music are a part of todays trance scene.
Another similarity is in the fashion items.
Long hair, piercings, tattos, clothing (just that instead of the traditional black it's more colourfull...)
But, there aren't much more similarities. it's not only in trance and rock that you get such a devoted crowed of followers (maybe, just maybe it looks the same due to the fact that this are 2 musical generes with an ideological agenda....).
And I for once don't think that every time you use a distorted guitar it makes a killah track, I'm even a bit tired of it (although I play guitar myself and I love this instrument...)

IMO it feels like we still like the agressivness but we're just "grew over" the gloomy teenageres phase in our life, and started being a bit more happy and positive...

Peace Brothers

p.s.
this is from my own experience and knowledge as a "former" rock dude. If you can identify with it it's cool. and if not, well, most likely you'll be right as well...           Out Here We're Stoned....

lol, there no point to prove, just a point of view, i felt something , i shared it, u have anything to say let it out..

and stop getting on my ass ...lol

i just felt a strong connection between rock and psytrance, not the same with psytrance and other genres like hiphop. pop, etc

so just wanted to know the similarities that make psy n rock so addictive..

again my own opinion,
