Okay so I've got what, less than 10 names out of like a thousand? That's definitely not the most of them. To tell the truth I've never though much where all the artists are coming from. I guess quite a few new and younger ones are pretty much like 100% psytrance if you know what I mean while the older ones come from all the scenes out there, not any particular one. That's what I've thought anyways, but do feel free to prove me wrong           "The dinosaurs became extinct because they didn't have a space program."

now this is a fact nobody disagrees right..

if the ancestors who started goa/psy music were rockers, who moved on to electronic music or psy..
we can conclude rock as a major influence right..
atleast thats wht i feel

also rockers and trancers are more like two brothers, having the same mother, as mentioned above, our ancestors who started psy were rockers before they got into psy..

Well I already posted mine but you chose to ignore it so here it comes again. I always thought people in Goa listened to all kinds of electronic music, like acid techno for example. I think we've actually got a few members here who were there when it happened so just wait for one to pop in and tell how it really was. I belive Mr. Search could reveal something as well..           "The dinosaurs became extinct because they didn't have a space program."

We are talking about the hippies that moved to Goa Traveller.. dont ignore us! I said yes Traveller I agree..
but think further back in time. Before the electronica scene kicked in

Hm, maybe that's true for "the younger generation" in here.
From all I know people who are into Rock usually dislike electronic music, because it is not made with "real" instruments.
All my friends/mates that like Rock are not into psytrance at all, on the contrary dislike it.           "*´¨)

Totally disagree.
Indeed there was quite a few of the hippies that did not like that they started to play electronic music instead of rock at the parties in goa.
So it was more a shizm between the rock fans and the new electronic music than a fact that goa trance would be sprining from rock music,
Sure you can trace some of the inspiration back to some rock, but it was for sure not the strongest influence.

Anyway, whats the point?
There is many different producer that liked many different styles of music before they got in to trance.
To call rock the mother of trance is only looking at a very narrow spectrum of where the inspiration comes from.

Well I was actually talking to mr paranormal there. But yeah before electronic music there was no electronic music But do you think bands like Quintensence (Raja Ram's hippy band) could be classified as Rock? Granted I haven't heard a single tune off them but from a gut feeling I'd say it's definetly not rock.. not in the traditional sense atleast..           "The dinosaurs became extinct because they didn't have a space program."

i agree with whoever said rockers might not like psy or electronic music, now thats just a matter of choice.. i aint talking abt those people..
i am talking abt those who used to rock, then experimented with modern machinery and technology and created electronic music particularly psy trance..

yeah thats my point, i didnt say rocks the only influence,

only the fact that the psy culture and rock culture are quite similar, not exact but similar..
and not to make any points, just wanted to share some feeling and thoughts.. and get to know wht others feel abt this..

cheers

Now why would you/they say that? It all depends on what kinda rock you play/listen to imo. You got metal artists like "Fear Factory" who published a great electronica mix album of their own tunes. You got lots of electronica influenses and elements in rock since the young 80's ...
And today.. almost all rock music has electronica elements in it with "real" instruments.
Electronica is the future and is blending in with all music genders.. I mean ALL.

I'm sorry.. but this was kinda

I am not argueing, that people that produce trance music get influenced by rock'n'roll, or that there is lot's of rock, that uses electronic means nowadays..
I was referring to "rock and psytrance being like brothers". I am afraid, but from my experience I can say that it is like this.
The Rock lovers I know hate psytrance and the argument about "real" instruments is a very common one and you can even find it in here, beeing continued in the hardware/software discussions.           "*´¨)
