you can make music for years on mostly free tools, and can satisfy all your listening fetishes with legally free music.
i am saying is more respect can be payed to the scene - enjoy what is offered for free, and if you want something that is not free consider purchsing.

the deal is...those things are only free because piracy came around, and everyone started to get their expensive softs and music on the internet, if not...they would all cost the same way( excluding 1 in a 100)...
in the end, i agree with most of the points beeing discussed on the topic (good discussions) and do belive the market will end up finding a way to keep up, it always do...
until then, H2O is my Bro!

One thing about downloading software...
I will stop doing it when the companies who develop it stop making 300% margin on their products...Being a smart ass in capitalism economy pays-off so i also feel the need to behave like one sometimes. If the IT and software companies want respect they should first respect the buyer...
This is no poor excuse to justify me...piracy is also an indicator of these times. Carnivours market behaviours, where selling to the higher price is the only concern. Its funny to see them complain that their margins are a bit down due to illegal downloading of their products when they dont give a shit to be fair, to set the example.
Im going here to give a silly example but it so fits the question: The transportation company responsible where i live decided to go against the permit of the Gov. to increase their prices for the year. They increase by 23% their margins. More people using the transportation less people cheating everyday.
Moral(if there is one): giving the example brings the best in many people. Its good to be cared about, makes us responsible...

actually now the situation with mp3s is definitely out of anybody's control so you guys wont reach anything with just threads like this. personally i think that there is no turning back and no chance to restore those cd sales that were years ago. just give up! think about how to use the situation instead of grieving over it. listen to what full_on and other smart guyz talking to you. you realy have no those mass media tools to use cause you're under the pop-ground.
do you use illegal software? so what? everybody do the same thing. if you'll get a smashing release that would give you enough money to turn your soft legal - do it. but you can use illegal one for a while. who cares? your goal is making good music? do it! you need to earn money? go get a job. music and money is two different thing if you're not a material girl like madonna.

the revolution started with the help of Bernhard Grill, Karl-Heinz Brandenburg, Thomas Sporer, Bernd Kurten, and Ernst Eberlein - of Fraunhofer-Gesellshaft.
they made it eazier for us to share the muzik on-line.
the muzik iz now free for all to have and for all to enjoy.
your record companiez one by one started to close down and this will go on all the way to the top.
az a dj and artist i have only one thing to do..
and that iz to raize my middle finger up high so all of you can see!

I will stop downloading pirated psytrance, when they would bring down the price of the CDs to at least Rs. 400-500... thats the amount which is charged for mainstream music CDs in India. I feel its ridiculous to pay Rs. 800 or more to get a psytrance CD from psyshop or any such online retailer...!! SonicTantra Records has taken a nice iniviative by selling their CDs at around Rs.250 to 300 in India. Now, that's what i think is a reasonable price to pay for a psytrance CD.
Btw, how many of my Indian mates here really buy psytrance CDs... well, lets say one CD a month? Anyone!?

i buy at least 3 in a month. If i have the dough then more. But comin back to the topi, as someone suggested thts its gone too way ahead to stop it. Also, i wonder if technology is so good these days, then there shld be someway where in u make a cd in such a way tht it cannot be ripped??? To giveu a small example... some of the Digital Psionics cds for example are ADES coded... meaning the moment u rip/copy it..... the quality goes down considerably. So there cld be some sort of technology ... maybe few years down the line which could nearly make it impossible to make mp3s.
But wonder wat digital stores would like to say abt tht !
Cheers

| What super speakers are you using? i have many records in original format and mp3 and i can t tell the difference okay if it s under 192kps then you maybe hear it but still...
in the end everybody downloads something porn, softwares, music, movies you name it and i bet you have also downloaded something in your life or is everything in your studio bought on store i doubt that
and since when it became the customers fault that 95% of psytrance released is total shit and not worth a dime

i dont like to confide in public what we do and for how much etc but i cant listen to these topics of everlasting problems of trance scene.
i agree with you that its a must to be active in marketing and promotion, sure, you have to take all in your hands, earn money playing at the parties etc....
but 10000 copies is imposible, even 1000 is wishfull thinking. as i said many times we are not even close to sell 300. did you catch it? last party we played in summer this year, 5 months ago. we have to switch our audience or strike wider.

2. Stop coping Astrix! Make your music special. B.p.empire sold way over 100,000. Why? Not it's not the name "infected mushroom" – its a mile stones in music its rare and unique album. So be creative and stop using formulas. Take trance to new directions! Make it new different and like something no one ever heard before.

i like what you said, we go this way from the begining. unfortunately true is 180 degrees different. if this what you said is the way to be famous and have significant income from music Bigwigs should be millionaires.

That is the way to reach over 100.000. It will not happen in one year. It will take time but "be the change you want to see" it's possible.
|
|
i like your optimism, we feel the same, it pushes us forward. we are active from 10 years or more. its sad to say it but you will never ever reach top while you are original, here in trance scene. originality is not a thing which takes you to desired position, if we think about money and fame.
to sum up: nothing is more precious than deep understanding of music by listeners. couple of words from you here and there is only income from albums and all we release. if its enough for you as an artist please join our club!
