i totally agree with Nathan. Just because you promote something doesnt mean its shit and its on the artist/labels to promote themselves. Really it seems like the biggest promotion in the whole scene comes from the fans reviewing albums.
Look at pink floyd - dark side of the moon, its 35 years old and still some of the weirdest music even if it came out today, its also sold almost the most albums ever. If they had done psy promotion on it, just wrote some stupid blurb with a bunch of new age jargon to put on psyshop next to the album and that was it we would probly not even know who they are.

if all artists signed this about not using illegal software we would probly have 90% less releases.

Question;

Do you just look at a car before you buy it or do you want to take it out for a spin and then deciede if you want it or not?

Answer;

Ofcourse!

Many ppl thinks like this when it comes to music or whatever available on the net and when tracks etc has been available for downloading such a long time now I think it will be hard to break that habit for many ppl...

And also... support the small indie labels that not has much money... And screw those Hollywood idiots that are only lying....

Each year or almost each year there´s always a movie that´s sells better then all other movies done before... Last thing I read about was the latest Pirates of The Carribbean wich set the records so far this year... So that ppl are don´t visiting cinemas etc just because of p2p sharing is PLAIN BS.

But as i said... the small indie Rec. labels need the support to survive and keep releasing stuff... they don´t have the same budget as microsoft for example

So keep dl:ing but do it with sense...

Best regards,

I'll sign when buying cds will be a sure thing or else the artists or shops get together and decide to put 100% of the tracks at 128kb so that we the consumers can have no more surprises...

Also, I want all artists to register themselves at becool.org... HAHAHA like that is ever going to happen

I declare that i will continue downloading software and music.
All my current tools and and most of my music are not legal and i will change nothing from this day on.
If there is music of good quality or if there are tools i use to make money, i will continue buying.
Further, i disrespect everyone who made our scene look like a bad copy of our original ideas, that have been influenced by people full of love to the music and the scene.

I disagree with Nathan. Promotion on the “Big Media” is not the answer to improve the sales. People actually influenced by TV are not buying good music, they’re buying a product the other people want them to buy, and that supposedly will bring them satisfaction, happiness, security and comfort.

Infected's BP Empire sold a lot (not sure about the amount, please give me reliable references) because this album was backed up by 2 HUGE and very successful albums, they were already very well known in the scene and sort of reference for people in many different genres of electronic music, not to mention that back that time theoretically it was easier to sell more.

I believe people need to wake up. We are underground. This means we’re not on the “Big Media” and we don’t want to be there, because we want to produce/listen to good music and not to products that follows established trends.

Some facts:
You’re a psy artist? Great, I’m on your side, and I’m sorry to bring bad news, which are the undeniable statistic that your album won’t sell more than 3.000 copies, and if you don’t work on it most likely it will sell less than 600 copies. What should you do? Get over it. This facts means that there’s no way you will live with money you get from album sales, so move your ass and get a job. You always dreamed about being a respected artist, spread messages of peace, love and respect? Great, you can still do that in your spare time. Is it a shame that everyone is downloading your killer unreleased and at the same time they say they support the artists and love psy but never bought a single original? Sure it is, but nobody said life was going to be fair.

Downloads are here and they won’t stop. I don’t think stop downloading is related to revolution, because it is just a dream that will never happen. The revolution will happen for the artists that start to do what they feel and this results in producing music that can be seem as reference for other artists and listeners.

I have written a lot more but it is too offtopic to post here. Hehehe...
I have written something about promotion here:

Why not? Is every artists you see on tv is cheesy pop star? There are programs on tv that give in the end couple of minutes to the non commercial acts - and its good.           -=The Meaning Of Life Is To Give Life A Meaning=

I don't know what programs you're talking about because I'm at Brazil and I don't have a TV.

What is this concept of "non commercial acts" on TV? Can you give some examples?

I understand your point, but don't think this brief TV exposure will not catapult any album. I saw many artists releasing good debuts and going mainstream very fast. Lots of singing and cheesiness on the most sold albums (like BNE, HomMega, Utopia & CIA) to give the album a less weird and more acceptable look.

Maybe I'm close minded, but in my view these albums are more products aiming to a broader range of consumers than proper psychedelic music.

And I think that even with that small TV exposure, the real psychedelic stuff will not sell enough for an artist to live only with income from albums. I think that the few acts that manage to sell more than 5.000 copies are on big labels.

Yo Faxi, I respect your intentions my friends. I think it is very upright of you that you felt so compelled about changing what you use to do. I wish you lots of luck in all of your projects.            "On the path of spirituality, one ventures to vanquish one’s own faults rather than to judge others"

not as cool as you Faxinadu, the funny thing is i've never heard of you in my life. trust me, downloading your music is not something i've done. i would actually have to have known something about your music first. go promote yourself, stop making stupid threads on a message board.
