not as cool as you Faxinadu, the funny thing is i've never heard of you in my life. trust me, downloading your music is not something i've done. i would actually have to have known something about your music first. go promote yourself, stop making stupid threads on a message board.

/touch

are you trying to offend me? cause you aren't really, to me you just sound silly.

ok i would like to explain my thoughts a bit better.

my reasons are not exactly the fact that my music gets downloaded, but i do addmit this is a part of it.

personally i feel there is a vicious cycle, of some materialistic need to download all the new plugins and all the new music, that affects both musician and listener.

there is a sort of lack of respect and appreciation to music and tools these days, because everything is so readyly available, that you mostly you don't take the time to fully appreciate a plugins sounds and features, or a track. sort of like a hump and dump mentality.

i feel that i have been affected by this too, and it got to a point where everything was taken for granted by me.

when in time i sarted to mingle with other music makers and plugin developers and all that, as well as putting out music that is sold, i became more aware of the curropting affect the mass download scene has on the music world.

for me to declare what i have is a step for peace of mind and also a sign of my own respect for my own work and for the hard work of all the other people who make my work possible (whether it be companies making software or labels or whatnot).

if most of you people here can not see this for what it is, and instead start the usual isratrance cynical talks, then well what can i say.... another sign of the atmosphere of this place and the psy scene (or humanity in general perhaps...)

with respect to (most) of you all,

faxi

You can't make people do what you want them to do, or what you want them not to do.

Speak with PsyCZ, Mycel, gEm and UPE guys — that's the origin of 90% psytrance mp3s in the whole World!

... and well, what you are trying to do has no future, you have to dig deeper and change the situation from the bottom. All major giant record labels can do nothing about the piracy, so there's no chance our small scene can do anything to stop illegal downloads.           [ cuBe ] :: cubeg.org •

How about one step further?
Not all my current tools and music are legal, but from this day on I will delete all my illegal software or music and buy copies of what I want.

or is that going too far?

This year i started buying all my music because being an artist yourself and not supporting your fellow artists is just being an hypocrite.
Also the quality of downloads is just shit, it might be playable at a small party but on big systems you feel so much difference between wav and mp3

I now spend like 100euro's a month on cds, cant spend more because there's not more good music coming out
(the rest of my money goes into electro house tracks from beatport )           SQL: http://www.myspace.com/sqlmusic

faxinadu, sorry if that came off sounding harsh but its truth. I've never heard of tas before this thread either. Hell, I try to stay up on releases but there are so many I've never even heard of 90% of the artist that post on here.
You can complain all you want about mp3 downloading but i think the only mp3s i've downloaded from anyone that posts here are colin and iron madness, both of who i would buy anything they put out because i really like their stuff. Iron madness because i use to really dig the stuff he posted in the new tracks forum before he released stuff and colin out of curiousity and that he's so helpfull in the producers section. Everyone else that posts here i pretty much have no idea what the music even sounds like. Kind of hard to get an album sale that way. If you think thats my fault, well then you don't get how to run a business. That was exactly the point of Nathan's post.

ok man fair enough, but its frustrating when you say that because i do put a ton of time in on promotion, but more could always help.

anyhow, i think it is a bit beside the point, but at least we are passed the flamming

see, here is the dichotomy of what you originally posted though. Now that we have had this discussion I'm interested in what your sound is like. Hopefully your on soulseek because I want to hear your stuff. If I like it I will buy it, I'f its not my taste I wont. a poor short sample on a website isnt good enough for me anymore. "psytrance" is such a broad term now compared to 1997 I don't waste my hard earned money anymore. I can either get into your music and know i'm not wasting my money or i can take a chance and randomly buy a cd. thats not how it works now, especially in this scene. I bet most people really into music preview things as "illegal" mp3s in every genre, here its even more intense.
Mp3s on p2p are your friend. Its not that your albums are not selling as many as they could because too many people are hearing your music for free. Its because people are not hearing your music period. Surely 100x more people will have downloaded IM last album and just as sure they will out sell you 100x over.

all the psytrance (and else electronic music) mp3 releases are for one reason only: its preview for what youll buy! problem is not in these releases, problem is in people who are playing music from these sources on parties. see, nowdays are many releases and you cannot decide that easy...
faxi, you cannot be versus the world. i agree with you, but how many people do?

I agree, I mostly download to preview (also because there is more music than I can buy, and because it's hard to get stuff down in the middle of f*!@#'ing nowhere)

And, Paid internet downloads are a JOKE! Most of them cost like 10x the price for downloading than buying a REAL copy (nevermind that its 128 Kbps, lower than the usual 192 to 320 kbps you can usually expect from pirated downloads). With such a *!@#!?!!(RANDOM WEIRD STUFF) service and such inflated prices, p2p pirating almost looks like a good healthy alternative (and a good way to stick to the man to drive the prices down).

I was thinking of buying the V/A - Anomalistic Behaviour (which is the only album I can buy ATM with you on it), but it has too much filler to pay for a double album.

Well, it all sucks because we're all thieving bastards and Hooray that you can get great Psytrance music in any corner of the world.

Pirating is like sex: Fucked if you do, Fucked if you dont

PD: keep up the good work, Ill go and buy the damn double CD now.

hey mr pritam,

it was not intended as a publicity stunt, and as you personally are well aware if i want to promote something on the net i just do it.

still, your point is taken, but on the otherhand, why have a forum for psy if anything one mentiones is seen as a cynical promotion attempt? lets all just shut up, not say anything about ourselvs or our thoughts, and post only our radio and release promotions everyhwere?
