i open this topic to see some pionts of view
trance started in greece around 93-94 as a club
experience, 1st parties were held in alsos club from sunrise zone , most of the top names today pasted from that club, so what my piont is some of those artists still play that style cose they respect those days like Mfg or Miranda,Hallusinogen
Astral Projection and many more why do people
know this people as just old artists and doint pay so much atention that they started the steps of music till today ,i know we leave in 2007 but todays music is the same same melodies same loops ul never find those old sounds again, what i have to say is that if people respect the culture of 1 type of music the should know and respect its roots,
for me these guys are legends and people should never forget them,aspecialy new people in trance shouuld find out more about the past.

Anyone remember the Battle of the Future Buddahs party at Alsos in 1998 or kris Andersen's live as Elysium Project at alsos also?? Fucken glory days 
By the way i have a flayer collection from those days perhaps i scan them and make a thread soon . |

Unfortunately, generally speaking, respect is not something that characterize Greeks...
and this is one of the matters that makes thing going worst year by year, not only to the scene, but to all things to this country

Those who grew up life with old school remember and respect,other who grew up with trance after 2000,dont know and usuually not respect,and this is not happening only with greeks but with any others.
We dont have to categorize our selves as greek,or as indians or russians...we are all cosmic being in a universal planet that is triping through the universe in space and time.
If someone do not respect the roots automatically do not respect music in general,no respect for history and forgot the mother who born everything,not respect union for all tribes,not respect for self..

with this kind of thinking u leave no room,for new blood to become even classic,oldschool,blah blah blah,-if u like it soo much the terms!

not all people my friend plus i find bringing 2-3-4 names and having 1000 people when 5 years ago it was double with 1-2 names and smaller artists, that times now are
geting worst ,big label like spun closed most are in other music now,plus there parties happening like universities which opened wrong doors trance had a bad reputation know asta na pane , u have a party and u hear 100 ekdoxes ,that the party is cancelled people say 10 difrent orginizers that do 1 event the dj or artists wont come ,dont go there cose the club is small when the same clubs plays here in athens more than 10 years and every 1 know thats it ,les ke exume pola clubs for trance , that artist dont make music any more and they suck ,but in brazil or japan 5000 people go to listen to them , i dont get it any more what is the concept sunrise zone was all people friends no fights no bla bla why the sceene became like this , goa parties in 94 was free friends nice times all 1 vibe now we are in 2007 and we see hate and vibes of who has more respect and who has been longer , im sorry but this is the truth ....and as uforica said its all a matter of caracter ....and what u belive in ....

i agree with moonsun 100% i stoped going to parties from 2000 plus all my friends the same
and they use to go from 94 to all parties, i go now to only few names like kox box or astral ,or hallusinogen or absolum and few more , parties took
a drastic change after 2000-2001 from free and feeling good and a vibe u thought u were in the sky
u didnt want to get out side ure house to go any were only to a few people like liatsikas. any way hope all goes well and in the end no big thing happens like 3 years ago when no trance was happening...plus i would love mfg or trancewave to come again |

for sure, there are (few) artists today who are worth to pay attention to them, as when you hear them you can understand that they follow the spirit of trance, the culture witch following our music, which established
in the early years.
But unfortunately they are few...
1. most of new artists playing shit, u hear one track of them and is like you hear them all!!
2. In the old days, we 've been listen to ALL artists they came and we 've been have lot of fun as the scene was ONE! now, we have prog, prog-psy, psy, full-on, neo full-on, dark psy and more bullshit, and each one who likes to listen one style he depreciate the music of the other styles.
3. Most of the new artists unfortunately they play music not because they have and they like the spiritual background of trance, but they play just for vanity, greed for money and having many chicks (and lot of coce perhaps...)
Those are the reasons my friend witch make us
be so nostalgic for the old days...

This conversation is categorized , between the ones that like the old style legendary artists , n' the ones who are modern psylovers.
Why dont all organizers promote the new artists that are talented without erasing the legendary artists of the past?.

Both are true my friend. Very true. I mean I can see it in the parties, and it's not like I'm stuck with classic stuff or whatever either.
I go to as many parties I can, and usually, I don't bother myself with who's playing as I used to. Because not only the music, but also the people have changed. The vibes are different now, and as for modern psytrance that someone said, I don't think there are any "fans" of this music now. I mean fans that are full into the stuff, buying records, watching the news in the scene, having like-minded ideas and so on, is a thing that nowadays doesn't exist.
Flyer collection is a really good example, I really don't know of any people doing this now. I did it back then, and many others ofcourse, everyone has seen the "wall of flyers" around his friend's rooms. With many stories to tell, about each one ! This friendly atmosphere, the feeling of being more united and in some way connected with the scene (the music, the CD's, the Vinyls -ahhh, the vinyls are my favourite part!!!-the caffeteria gatherings, the after-parties, the private -soon to be unprivate-parties, the outdoor autonomous events, the excursions with friends, the home dj'ings and jamms, all that and more...) is somehow lost today. I don't see young psychedelic fans behave like we did. They're more "apathetic" to all the scene, and its normal.Maybe because they do not connect that well with the music that comes out now. Maybe because they have less free time, or ...I really don't know why. But they don't see it as a scene, and they're much more distant, this is a fact for me.
I went to Frank'E a couple days ago, the party was nice, music pumping and all that. Frank was clearly in a mood, so everything felt right. I was looking at the younger people, while I was dancing ofcourse, and I saw that they wouldn't give the energy the older ones were giving out. Many of them were dancing for 10 minutes and then took an hour break ! I know you think this is funny, but I had a conversation with a friend afterwards and he told me the same thing.
All I'm saying is, a little more passion is needed today, coz things aren't looking that much "hippie" as they used to. The magazines, the radios, and all that have left this music behind a long time ago. If people leave it as well, then things will get tight. An underground ghost of something that somehow happened sometime...

Hello you elves and fairies!!!!
You post a very big and complicated theme my friend Moonsun....
In my opinion there are many reasons that we lost our path!!
First of all,for a party to be "sucessfull",and i don't mean the fucking money ,
there are 3 elements for me.
People-place(indoor or outdoor)-and music.
Back in old days we had many club owners who wants to give their club for an event...Clubs like Alsos,Battery,Getto,Loft,Amfitheatro,places like Alimos,an outdoor place inside Athens!!!!Now,if you go to a big club ,you will be asked to pay a serious amount of money,money that ordinary people like us don't have them.
Second,the music.......Mate,don't forget that back in 90's, psychedelic music was something totally new...
Everything new in the begining is easier to gather more and more fans.....Plus ,in old days music was a whole journey of your mind...not braindamage ...but journey...Music could travel you ,cos it was full of melodies,quick music yes,not varate me kai as klaio....From the first till the last track was a whole trip,with different path but same magical conclusion...Now the psychedelic trance music became full on ...which means very quick music without a beggining and an end...just quick music...for me crap mostly...You cant travel with this stuff...just take some drugs and think that someone hunt you and you have to run run run run with the 150 bpm.....not travel...just run....
I am refering to the majority of that kind of full on...I am sure that there are a lot of good full on projects,but here i am talking about the majority....We have many years that we actually don't "travel" but just "run"...People after 2000 or mostly 2003,they didnt know how the past was...they thought that this is psychedelic music,this is a psychedelic party...no my friends,truth is completely different.This is the reason i beleive that back in old times we had passion and energy and vibes....we "travel" a lot in parties not just "run".....
In the specific scene we had 3 magic words whitten in almost every flyer,but most,in our mind!!!LOVE PEACE AND UNITY MATE!!!!!!!
Words with meaning ,words that now gave their position to money...and irrogant behaviour.....It is wrong for me to make a party for example the same day that you already know that another party is held...
You don't do it for people,cos people will be confused with 2 parties with good music..everyone wants to be in both parties..so the only thing you will suceed is to divide them.It is beautiful if you succed to organize a nice party and everybody has a great time...but the next weekend,when you know that another team organize a party,it would be better for everyone to support them ,and help them ,and don't make another party in the same day just because your team is better....It is not good for our scene...I think that everyone can understand that...
If i had a party team,i would be glad to help other teams,or going to their parties,COS WE HEAR THE SAME MUSIC,so why not going to the other team's party??If you don't care that you will divide the people,if you will not go to a party with music you like just because the party is been organized from another team...then you are problem for the scene,it is simple,because you put yourself higher than our scene....
STOP THINKING FOR YOURSELF - START THINKING FOR OUR SCENE WE ARE THE SCENE

u're in my mind
