Very interesting topic Nick. I agree with the majority of the posts and i don't want to criticize the situation of nowadays cause i ll lose the meaning.
For sure, those who have experiences of the legend period 1994-1999 is a little difficult to forgot parties-artists-feelings... Memories are still awakening with nostalgia.
I don't reject evolution but evolution without respecting the roots doesn't exist.
Finally, i want to propose to all the party promoters to organize an old school event i believe it ll have a big success, if someone is hesitant about the financial success i am prompt to help.
P.S. In the mountains of Israel the last 6 months they are organizing retro parties with the participation of artists like MFG, Chakra, Sandman, Cosmosis etc and i am not joking or lying

There was an old greek pop song that said "o neos einai oreos alla panta eutixos o palios einai alios" so i guess this sums it all up in a few lines.
As about retro parties,well get prepared thats all i can say.

i hope we will not become like people who make nowadays "karekles" parties in order to remember 80's times  ....life and music is on the move

Yes the scene is not like it used to be 7-8 years ago but still the people in Athens know when a good party is taking place and they show their appreciation by attending it and having fun at it.
When you organise/play is such a party you will understand what i mean.
Also the life in Athens is very interesting and more active than the life of many other European and not only cities and the music taste of people is not as bad as the majority thinks,after all Athens hasnt got a big music tradition in electronic music like London or Berlin have for example.

There are a lot of people from Athens and other places of Greece (people who don't go to parties anymore) that are waiting for something like that so i hope to happen soon!

there is another saying in greek { ta logia ine perita - i praxis dixnun} and i know from that parimia what i see
is the truth ,i dont think half and more people stoped going to parties , when they loved this music and were
at all parties till 2000,

organizing retro parties at some points of time cource is a great thing and we will support it...but the point is to make parties with new upcoming artists that have something to say with their music and to listen into new sounds...old is gold but future is brighter..if we stick into the past we will miss the present..

Electrojoseph this is a public forum so when you speak in public you should expect an answer from anyone,especially when you mention the city of Athens in which i am also living so i guess i can have a say about whats going on in my city.
If you cant stand the heat stay out of the kitchen.
Noone is crazy and not everybody is dissapointed,people are "dissapointed" from the first day i discovered this music and parties almost a decade ago,even back then the people were complaining about high entrance fees,same and same artists all over again,the behaviour of security in parties,bad soundsystems and a million other reasons.People will always complain and especially greek people simply because its in our nature to complain because of our need to have something to say.
In any case though you cant just pop up in a forum and claim that music and life advances in other countries but not in Athens and that everybody in Athens is dissapointed with the party situation.
How do you know and according to what basis can you judge if the people in Athens are dissapointed or not with the parties?Based on the parties that you play for 50-100 people in tiny clubs?
Last weekend 700-800 people had an amazing time with Alien Project and Rinkadink and i dont say that because i was involved in that event,they say that in public and they showed it by staying 300-400 people till 8 in the morning asking for more music,same in the summer with the open air parties and in early September with Dino Psaras and Talamasca where more than 1200 had a great time in probably the best club in Greece.
You werent in none of this events so you cant know if people in Athens are having fun or are dissapointed with the party scene here,dont judge just by your own experiences.
Things in Greece in general are not like they used to be indeed but still some people love this music and when a good party takes place everybody goes there to support it.
Find a nice club,book couple of good artists,get organised a little bit and you will see that the people are not so dissapointed as you might think.
Take it as a friendly advice i am not in the mood or need of fighting with anyone but also i cant accept generalisations being said in this forum.

the topic here is about old style,
and not what is going on in Athens (or other town's scene).

and by the way, WHERE IS THE MODERATOR? We must do his job? or his job is just to delete
