I was talking about it a few days ago with Zombi Cocktail...
A party organizer told me he wanted to get somebody from abroad to play for his next party during night time - a progressive act.
We started thinking about artists and found that there are almost no existing progressive artists that make night music. They all moved to morning.
I find this annoying. Like Zombi told me, the music in a party should be built. There should be night music and morning music. It's so annoying to hear Vibrasphere at 3 a.m. This is one of the reasons why I'm slowly and surely moving to full on music.

Artists... We need night music. I know most people like morning music, but there are also some who like the night.           Majority is never right!

yes you're right ravergirl. no morning without day, no light without darkness.

but you have to see that there are especially good, new artists that do this stuff. the kiel connection made some rocking night tunes. upcoming zenon rec. fraction comes with a shocking night-cd. and these were just examples.

me personally is slowly moving back from morning to night progressive.

but anyways, the right music at the right time. no vibrasphere at 3 am.           Anakoluth A Pebble in Your Eardrum's Shoe since 2001!

but u still have some Genetic Spin.
also i think full on is not night music for sure also.
as for me so give to Nukem build up the night, it will not be too psy or trance at all, but sure very dark hypnotic music, exactly what u need at night time.

I think morning/night issue is very matter of taste. there is no night music or morning music its only depand on the dj`s set.. I really prefer colors, vibe & groove in night time than dark & hard stuff but It can`t be crazy 146 bpm full-on trakx.           check out! www.soundclick.com/spasm

RaverGirl, it is good that u need nite music, I believe that this is svery important for the party, to have a decent night set..

But nowaadays, if u make night music u have zilch bookings.. So if u wanna have more night music u have to go to party organizers and not to artists

I know more than a few in Israel and out of it that make night music ( full on and progressive ) but they are not invited to play too much.. so all of them slowly but surely move to make morning anthems..

The future of this scene depends on the possibility it will give it's artists to express themselves - as it looks now - it doesn't and it is sad since it brings it down even if most of the full on morning crowd wont agree.. It wont happen today, but it will soon enough..

So, RaverGirl, it is not about the artists at all           A man with a "master plan" is often a woman

Maybe I am weird, but I consider Tegma to be progressive nighttime music. Dark and creepy.

I saw Gus Till 2 years ago and he played probably the best nighttime set I have ever heard. Very cerebral and dark, but not heavy and full-on. He totally freaked out the entire crowd and brought them to the brink of mental apocalypse....perfectly setting the stage for Anti to bring in the daytime and save everybody. I am pretty sure Gus knew *exactly* what he was doing. I haven't heard him since, but he definitely knows how to play the nighttime.

I'll be blunt.

The progressive acts have gone SOFT. They've all become a bunch of wankers. Shiva Chandra, one of the hardest mofos of the trance world up to subsonic, let alone Planet BEN, Phony Orphants, Son Kite and the such. I've heard Lish play soft haldolium tracks at 3AM. You want dark and hard music with a solid structure, good groove and flowing all the way? Listen to techtrance. Charm's album is the only high quality droner released outside of the techtrance scene this year.

I love dark music. The dark side of the scene is growing soft, pushed that way by Plusquam and Iboga. If two years ago, you could listen to Son Kite, Bitmonx, XV Killist and the rest scratching your brain down to small pieces (and I'm not talking about the less progressive acts like Paps or Yumade), today you have your choice of Tegma, Ticon and Lish to do not much more than warm you up for the morning.

Sure the organizers are to blame for not bringing night acts, but the trend started when people thought of the night as a preperation for the morning. And now less and less people come before 3AM, and more and more are joining the 5AM and later party people. So naturally, the organizers think of the morning more than they do of the night. It's a phenomena which feeds itself.           http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222

Psycho Micro? night music?!?!
naaaaaa.......

i know what you are talking about RaverGirl and i totaly agree.... and also with what kaz said.
i think that because of the fact that ppl start to come only in the "morning" make the organizers think that its because of the full on music and choose to put it also duering the night to be more atractive... i hope that finaly there will be an understanding that morning music must be built by the night dark music.           just flow baby... just flow...

I'm as far from a night music guy as it can get, but those blokes at Ambivalent Records are doing some pretty nasty dark progressive discs...           the greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist....
