Just listen to Jaia's The Peter Pan Syndrome and I am sure you will think different after that Pavel... And if you go to the more deep house side of progressive I can promise you that the basslines there are a 1000 times more sophisticated than the average full on bass. But again it's a matter of taste and cant be argued... simply because what you think is great I might think is average and so on......

Kiwa, Loopus in Fabula, Shiva Chandra, Rip Van Hippy, Bigwigs, The Antidote, Electric Universe, Koxbox and even some stuff by Logic Bomb (Always Choose Retry for instance) has got tons of groove... just in those the bassline is what the groove revolves around.

Of course, if you really want to get funky, James Brown is the answer           http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222

I love progressive, i love deep trance, i enjoy greatly phony orphants as much as i enjoy 1200 mics (as weird as that much sound to most of you) but the scene is filled with mediocrity. And everbody knows about it. As soon as 1 artist tries a new attitude all of a sudden we've got 20 clones to create a ripple which flood the scene with their copy paste material.
Sad, but it's the true. BTW i heard today Psychedelic vibes 2 and the last track was very very different from anything i heard in that time or anything that i hear today.
Can you tell what was that track?           Everyone in the world is doing something without me

Yeah, most of today's basslines are repetitive and boring (altough that's part of "getting into trance").
Actually, most of trance music released lately is not worth listening to, but that's another thing.

If you want good basslines, try Doug Ferguson's basslines from Camel - Camel (1973).

I think it's cool you're openminded to different styles.. More should follow that path.... I was merely pointing out that it's very hard to settle opinions about music taste....

To me as a life long music lover and artists for many years I unfortinently have the side effect that I analyse music too much... But I do believe that the full on scene when it come to GMS, Infected ect ect. clones could use a bit of a creative "injection" when it come to basslines and for that matter sound creation... To be honest most I have heard from this "camp" the last 4-5 years sound exactly as a repetition of what went on in the past... It's just better produced that's all... But of course that's my opinion.

That can also be said about lot's of progressive too... So you see it's not a "one way street"... I just guess some of us "oldtimers" have heard almost all that's been made in this scene by now. I for one tend to laugh a bit when I see new artists getting promoted as the "new thing". Take Wizzy who was announced as something radical new and groundbreaking... sorry but I see no innovation in their music... It's all been done before they came along... I do not say they make bad music... not at all. I just think our scene tend to overpraise the artists as inoovative and "fresh"... when most still are stuck in the past and have a hard time looking forward.....

And yes I know what track you're talking about pavel

basslines are overated, give me a good bass SOUND of k b k b and if it has wicked percussion over the top im happy...percussion is far more important imo. While there is some wicked full onaround, personally i find alot of the full on basslines have a "nursery ryhme" quality - they move to and fro, to and fro in the way traveller described...this ruins any sense of wonder or psychadelicness for me

You don't know what you talking about!

Infected mushroom(old infected)
astrix
space buddha
the misted muppet
Orion
1200mics
wizzy noise
delirious

and many more....
Their music is not just bassline but much more!
their music is so good with everything!
their music have everything: basslines melodies rhythms fx drums whatever else.
You just listen to the wrong full on probably.
and damn people in this forum have such a negative judgment, you must learn how to enjoy good music!

not like minimal that have bassline rhythms and bassdrum.
The fact is that full on (I call it progressive goa) will always be the main psytrance.
and some artists make it good some not.

and to the topic
yes
I think that psytrance/goa trance was in process
its start from goa to nithonot ( I know you can't admit this)to infected mushroom to astrix to 1200 mics and so on...and now it is all about creation!
like stories, it is about what the story have to tell you.
some artists do it well some reall don't.
and it is not just about taste!
it is about good music.
and it become better and better everyday with better soundquality and greater synthesizers!

i am also sure about this

slomi - remember the old goa music - how melodic, remember astral projection - people can fly, remember all this and tell me if those f***ing gms and astrix melodies are development.

i am not listening full on at all - i am only checking every new album that released.

if you like full on say i like full on but dont start to say something you dont know.
why you think the sound become better????
there are many "artists" making music on comp without any knowledge, and then labels just release it - i dont know why.----->how exactly can be a soundquality better?????
Listen some House or HipHop or Pop - see what is
really soundquality is.
