Just a quick question: do you also think that it's ok that other people steal your legitimate property (food, fuel or party ticket for example)?

Well, downloading music i s great in one way. You get to listen to new projects and you can buy a record annd know what you'll get. Without the internet, I wouldn't have bought a tenth og the music I buy now. In average I buy one CD each week.

It's nice if _you_ buy more music nowadays, but the sad fact is that sales are down drastically which means that a lot of people buy less music.

By downloading music, I can filter out which music I like and don't like. So if I find some tunes I like, I'll buy a record from that artist.

And if you don't like the material, do you immediately delete it and not spread it (like the most people do who use p2p for "evaluation purposes")?

Studies have also shown that the people who download much music, they're also the ones who buy many records. I consider myself as a brilliant example of this.

Where can I familiarize myself with these studies?

But I'm also quite lucky, since I live in Norway with a very strong economy. Here the minimum price for a CD is 20 €, but most of them cost a few euros more... So I have no problem buying records from saikosounds.com, phonokol.com or psyshop.com. You says you pay over 30 € for a record at psyshop! How is that possible when they only charge 3.25 € to send two records to the costumers within the EU?

That 30 euro is just a pitiful lie in order to try to justify theft. Therefore it shall be left unnoticed.

with the quality of some artists today... I dont care to listen to mp3 with 64 kbps. sad but fuckin true.

Thats a pretty dumb thing to say, im sure you want Shpongle in full quality right? How can you say youve really heard a track when you listen to it in 64 kps, all youve heard is bits and piecies with atrifacts through it.....

well..
I still say that 256kbps encoded mp3 sounds pretty much if not exactly the same than the original source..

A wav file at 44khz 16 bit of a track is on average 70mb, an mp3 of the same track at 256kbits is about 15 to 20 mb... tell me, with out the use of magic, how they can be the same? Where did the 50 mb go to??? Its gone.... its even worse at mastering sample rates like 96khz 32 bit...

[quote] Also i want to do a question (i am not sure about the answer).
- A person who hasnt enough money hasnt the right to listen the music he loves ? - [\quote]

Yep. I mean why wouldnt you have money? cos you sit on your ass all day bitching about the world and how its so unfair that you have to go out and get a job and earn money, when really you think you should be paid to smoke weed and pop pills while downloading!! or whatever it may be... LOL

Quote:
i dont blame anyone for this...money makes the world go round and make easy our lives BUT what has to do the trance spirit with the money ?
i know money is needed to support the industry BUT seems very badly to me to listen or read about money all the time (or many many times).

Cos times are tough, you need money to make records, sign artists, make parties and so on. The money is drying up, and so will the trance spirit along with it, they live hand in hand. If money isnt important, transfer all your money into my account and go live in the forrest with nothing and see how long you live.

Think about it, artists spend a lot of money on their studios to make this music you aparently love so much. If artists cannot make money from their work they cannot afford better equipment, therefore the quality declines. I mean why the hell should an artist be expected to pay for all this equipment, then spend many hours of whatever spare time they have to make this music so people can download? Tell me one thing in this world were people pour lots of money into something so people can come and get it for free??? There is no such thing.

Namhaj u are right in many things.
I never write that the artists havent to earn money.Everybody must be paid for his work and for the hours he spend on it.
I wrote that i am tired to read about it all the time and i think i am not the only one.

Downloading is stealing but i think its unfair to blame people who download...
Its like find money in road - nobody will see u if u keep it - the 90% of people will keep the money - the rest will go to police.

The guys who made the worldwide transfers programs and have the servers to support these , are making the crime. Yes these persons must go to jail for many many years if they ever be founded.

You are wrong in the "why wouldnt somebody has money " .
Many people work everyday , all day and they be paid 25 euros . Also they have to support and feed a family .The music is a way to relaxing but if they buy a cd per week ,their family wont eat this day.
U could say "oh u make it too tragic The0dore"... Maybe i did it but i have seen a close example of it.

Peace
Namhaj

Im tired of reading about it all the time too, i wish it wasnt a concern, but the reason why you read it so much is because its a big problem for a lot people making things happen in the trance scene.

Who gets paid 25 Euros a day (i am assuming) and that has the internet and a computer to play mp3's on? Must be a thief LOL... Maybe this is true, i really feel for you if you get paid this pitiful wage. My comments above are mainly directed to certain types of people who believe everything should be free and that they dont have to work or anything, just sit on their ass and scab from the people around them, even some people in this thread have admitted that even though they understand that mp3 trading (i say trading because i believe this is the problem, not mp3 itself) is destroying the scene, they dont care, they just want to pay for what they have to and take whatever they can. Sad but fuckin true. So apologies from me to those who earn 25 euros a day and have a pc with an internet connection.

it's all about math my friend..

see

1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 5

or

1 x 5 = 5

uh i somehow suddenly "joined" the dark side in this thread..

let me come clean..
i do sometimes download albums.. for example the younger brother album.. i just didn't see myself spending 20 pounds to it.. now it's available for a lot cheaper from trance-shop.com ..how ever younger brother will perfrom live here in less than 20 days..

until then the mp3s will do just fine.. at the event i'll ofcourse buy the album.. for it being that it happens to be purrrfect... i did burn the mp3s to cd-r and gave it to my gf.. for i'm sort of converting her.. but it's not like she was ever going to buy that album.. and i am.. so was so such a great crime?

it also happens to be a great "sex album".. ..the first tracks anyways.. so i definetly needed a copy to her place too =)

have you ever wondered what happens once you zip a file? the file becomes smaller.. yet you can make it exactly the same by unzipping it.. it's all about math..           "The dinosaurs became extinct because they didn't have a space program."

hmmm, thats not quite what happens when things are encoded as an mp3. mp3 is a compression standard that strips away frequencies that the ear "cannot hear" so as to make the file size smaller. the innovative thing about mp3 was that the compression curve (how much of each freq. is removed) is set by looking at scientific studies of what the human ear can and cannot hear.. ie it is tweaked to sound as good as possible for the amount of compression of file size... however there is data being lost here, whether you like it or not....           >>love will tear us apart...<<
