shahar, i think you misunderstood me if u gather that im in a defensive mode. i have nothing to defend, i dont live in israel and dont encounter those problems. i did however live there in some of the years you went to parties and yes, the problems were similar and even in isratrance (97 and on) the language of the poster is not something new either... i think your last dialogue with yuli is summing up all i have to express here 
im not for racism, i see it here in america and its never a good thing. what i suspect is happening sometimes in isratrance though, is that benevelent posters do not think deeply enough of the reprecussions of their words in the literal sense and persons who are sensitive to this are hurt.

I agree it is racism but, the last time I went to a friends party it ended with me and my friend (the dj currently playing) defending ourselfs from arabs with knifes and screw drivers.. i mean i know its generalizing but once you go through something like that it does change your perspective a bit. |

There is a big difference between racism and not so "politicaly correct" sentences.
Though, ppl should try to avoid these sentences.

I am sure Rephlex will answer your question but the main issue with those ppl that most of the time there is no real reason. Just bad mood, or they see someone that should be smacked.

When I see some big hairy dude with a leather west and a Hell Angels logo on the back of it smacking up some kid at a party in Copenhagen or some Body builder with tattoos smacking up some inoncent guy on the floor I dont call then "Danish". I call them Hell Angels and a Bodybuilder moron. |

I agree. As soon as the gangs we talk about will have names, I am sure we will call them accordingly. At the moment tho hebrew missed the point with these subgenres of numan waste and we dont have proper names for them as yet.

Shahar are u for real? If u have been almost killed by ppl from certain social group, and especially if it happened far more then one time, it seems to me even the most naive individual will change his perspective.
Seriously man, it seems to me, that since u didnt have real problems like the ones described here, but I have the feeling that if u had come thru one of these accidents yourself or with your wife ( has vehalila ) u would speak differently.
You simply cant demand from ppl not to relate to things that they go thru, and continue as if nothing has happened. Why dont u go to make shopping in Ramalla for instance? Is it because arabs live there? but 10 years ago u would do that... Isnt this racism towards all the arabs that live in Ramalla to think that they gonna skin you just like that?

Arsim are one kind of an israeli troublemaker, it is a certain group in the israeli society that usually can be easily spotted (it's not a general word for any troublemaker and that movie that was posted earlier is a comic-accurate israeli stereotype example for them) - in the hebrew slang. But is there a slang word for Arab kind of troublemakers? none. What about Russian troublemakers? also none. And all the rest of ethnic groups that are stuffed in Israel? How would you call them? just troublemakers? arsim? Should there be a word at all?
In the context of the discussion, no one really means to get down on the whole ethnic group, although it can be interpreted that way by someone else who's reading.
what is the word for danish 'usual' troublemakers? I guess there are no 'usual' ones, so there is no common slang for it. About the reasons of why a society creates these words is probably another chapter in this discussion.
although a norwegian racist example would be "pakkis" - which im sure you heard of once at least (even being danish).
In lebanon btw, there is also a word: Tatars (if im not mistaken)
Do we need to call anyone names and connect them to a wider group of ppl in the name of defence? Generalization? Slang? Social 'defences'?
