i am really sorry old bigwigs doesnt exist.sure i am not alone.
make what you want - make pop - that doesnt fuck anyone.
and dont say advices - i think after you saying things u said its obvious to find another band - there so a lot - shouldnt be problem

personaly i can understand what the Polish wackos are saying here...
people tend to forget that artists are PEOPLE first ,and then the ones u admire or really like hearing...
it could be very stressful to feel that people want from u somthing u are no longer attached to and no longer wish to do....the idea is to keep it real and to do it from the love to music and not the love for fame or money....
i can def' understand why people feel bad if they liked a group or an artists and he/they changed his style,but dont forget that he is a PERSON!!!! and not a Jukebox that plays the music that u like...even though it sounds harsh for an artists to say to a "fan" find a dif' band....i think it really means...let me be ME if u dont like me any more...well...too bad.

p.s people are so used to crowed pleasers(no need for names) that when some one does it for the love and fun and not for the crowd's love(money)...they cant accept it...sick,twisted,weird,starnge!!!

das Fung ... I really want to apologize for having made the extremely irresponsible decision of actually trusting the barely 5 year old kids from Bigwigs. I was all the time in a haze of certainty that they knew but they were doing.

listen....there are two kind of artists....the one who make music for themselves , and the one who make music for the people ...it is different goals...and before to say what a musician should do , make some music yourself.... |

though i respect your argument from the artists point of view !

I see what you are saying but i think that it's not right to make music for the people...
I think that artists that are doing the music for themslef and for their soul first will get a better and a more self honest result. and it doesn't matter if they do full on or prog.
Artist who make the music for the people will very soon have to get very automated on the way they write their music and do all the creations in a certain concept that the crowd is familiar with and the crowd want to hear.
This creates a lot of very limiting borders which are very bad for a musician to have.
Plus if all artist would do music for the people only, the music and trance music specifically wouldn't develope anywhere and just stand at the same place.
The ones who make this music for themselves Are those who bring the new spirit to this music each time and take it to a new different levels and directions.
Thats IMO.

talamasca - you have smt in your words - but me and many others will still stay with our opinion.
also about saying smt about "try and make music first" - so thx man i bet you wish me luck - simply many good ppl waiting to get a very top level beofre releasing things out - but i am sorry , really sorry that there are many who dont know anything in music - only play with softies and get support from some big names and releaseing it - but its another story

I'm nothing saying that there is something wrong about making music for the people (britney spears and justin timberlake do that and make all lot of money from it  )
I think that someone who define himself a real artist don't sit at home and think to himself what will the people think about A certain sound or break or part of the track he just think if he likes or not and that what matters.
Once again i agree Good music is good music no matter how you do it , i just look from the artist's perspective.

It's all pop music. Worrying about the gradients is pointless. If you have a job you like, go ahead and make something obscure or experimental. If you hate your job, make something trendy. At the end of the day, the *artist* is the one who has to suffer his or her own lifestyle choices, and in the morning, they are the one who has to wake up to either their dayjob's alarm clock, or to their insincere music which allowed them to eliminate the alarm clock. Either way, let's not be codependent by being valiant on someone else's behalf. Every person must choose a path which is in accordance with their true will. |
