I´m so scared right now.
I´ve been thinking about this alot lately.
I´m afraid that Trance (Psy) will become to big.
Like now we got Infected moving to the States and trying to make it big, I suspect.
But what if the Trance scene become to big?
I think that it will destroy the whole thing.
We will have 14 year old punk kids (no offence) getting drunk listening to Infected and other comercial artists, thinking that they know everything about Trance and the culture. (Not that I think that I´m a master of Trance).

Take Hip-Hop for example. Up until 3 years ago I had listened to Hip-Hop for all my life, but then... it happened.
It became to big. Now we got Hip-Hop "stars" that got no skills, and the only reason that they make it as an artist is good PR, nothing but comercial stuff.

So what do you think? Do you think that it would be good if Trance became the new fly, and they would be playing Infected and Yahel (only an example) on the radio?
Or do you have the same thoughts that I have?

Be afraid, be VERY afraid

Sorry man, this will be the end very very soon lolol. what are you so worried about man? that someone else who is not within your social group will discover your 'big' secret?

Trance and culture? what culture man? personally that is a bunch of bullshit, their are good people everywhere not just in psytrance.

But dont you worry man, their will always be good music out their so its not the end

Psychodelic Music Belongs to Psychodelic Minds!!!

I also dont think that it would not be industrial as long as our people are on our side.(and dont industrial themselves)Trance Music is not about making money, Its a way of living.
dont forget that next jenoration of Trance will include younger people then us, therefor the maitaining of this scine includs youngsters also. in order to keep the PSY , we need to keep underground and that way only the ones who raely want this scine would sucsid showingup and will be more than wellcomed.
Therefor my dear, Trance would never be Mainstreemed this way.
keep the faith and vibes positive and never think despare there is always somthing that need to be done keep on Psylife
Peace

P.S : im also afraid Im practicly terrifyed, but I know that with the years coming expect some changes, it will be alright as long as we keep it PSYchodelic tune

Ofcourse comercial is bad, most of the times.
Cuz when it gets comercial then it isn´t about who makes the best music, then it will become about who is the best at selling and making comercials. That´s what I´m scared of, that the good Psy artists will become "famous" and thinking that they are floating on air, then they won´t concentrate on the music as much as they did when they was more underground.           I never sleep cuz sleep is da cousin of Death

Well, psytrance is dividing now in my opinion. You got the most popular style, represented by Infected, Astrix, GMS and "those" guys, and you have the other side, what people call "dark".
I seriously doubt we'll be hearing non-melodic tunes with screaming synths on the radio. But hey ... Infected is already making pop-music where they sing, also Sub6 so ... we'll see. But psytrance was bigger in the 90s, when there actually was done some PR. I remember seeing a commercial for "Hallucinogen - Twisted" on MTV.
So to me it wouldn't matter of they started playing Yahel and Infected on the radio ... I think artists like that already make radio-music, quite similar to euro-trance.          ________________________

Everyone on this forum say that trance is slowly becoming more commercial. Trance will never be commercial.
1. The music is too full of sounds and melodies for a lot of people to comprehand. Often people who lke electronic music say about trance that is too confusing.
2. There is too much mp3 flying on the net. Comercial artists like Tiesto and many more sell 80000 copies from a CD and more. In trance i dont now if anyone sold that much.
3. No matter how the trance divides : Full on, Dark, Progressive, Techno... It will always be trance. The same people are listening to that music and the numbers are growing slowly, but still remaining low so that this music continues to stay underground.
I dont ever want to see the day when some trance artist receives an award for Best DJ (Astrix - DJ of the Year - DJ mag). It would prove that he is a brilliant DJ, but i dont think that is what Trance is all about.
That's My opinion. I know that many people will agree with me on this one.

All the best to all of u, Slavko @ Digital Dance

You cannot generalize like that. Would you say that Pink Floyd is commercial for example? Dark Side is one of the best selling rock albums. Does that make their music not worth listening to?
Come on.
And, just because Dark Side sold well, that did not make most prog rock bands sell out (at least not for too long, hehe). Prog rock is very much alive and kicking today, even if there are a lot of people that might make you think otherwise.
So, there might be a phase (there is now actually) where psytrance will gain in popularity and there will be too many people producing (even when some of those clearly should not be). That overload of quantity vs quality in a genre such as psytrance will eventually do nothing but drive the genre back underground (look at prog rock again for instance).
Moreover, how much must we discuss this? Don't like psytrance on the radio? don't endorse it by listening to it. I am pretty sure that if trance ever made it to the radio, it would be the kind of trance that I don't listen to anyways. It will only make you dig deeper for those artists that really do it for you. And who knows? Maybe such exposure will allow people that otherwise have no other way of learning about it discover trance? Why must you (or I) be the only people that listen to it? If someone hears it and doesn't like it, he will not go to Infected concerts. However, if they fall in love with trance, how can you deny them that pleasure?           Load Universe into Cannon. The scene has already grown out of proportion for a few years (too many labels, too much average music released, blabla... Well, 99% of the topics dealt with on this forum actually). I'd say roughly since 1998. And Psy Trance is still alive and kicking.

I didn't pay attention to the country you're living in, but here in France you can still find pretty good underground parties, and leave the big thing to such immature "punk kids".

Three years you say ? Here in France Hip Hop became trendy in early 90's. That makes 15 years (Phew !). Still, it is still possible to find a few true good acts.

My advice : avoid trendy gatherings, forget about sell-out artists, simple as that. I assure you that you'll still be able to find more parties and quality music than you can swallow !
