If the up and coming 14 year old punk kidz don't turn out to be the proper psychedelic trance people we want in our scene we've got only ourselves to blame. It is the job of the older generation to set an example and teach the younger generation. If the younger generation comes out fucked up it probably does have something to do with the older generation being fuked up.
So yes, I am scared too, I fear commercialization, but whatever happens its up to us to figure out how to make the best of it, no?
And anyway... its just music. If this scene gets 2 big, something else will come to repace it that appeals to the same personality types as trance.
There is really no need to worry.
if you want to worry or be scared, just turn on the News and you'll be afraid for a GOOD reason. |

Whats the sense of being scared for this?
U don't change anything with being scared and it is not good for ur mind to be scared all the time.
Look some hardcore horror movies and be scared.
But rest of time be happy

Yes the scene is getting commercised....but there are a whole lot of underground parties happening as well.....I am reffering to India( Goa)...

Hip Hop became commercial at the moment Run DMC sampled Aerosmith's Walk This Way. It was like 20 years ago. Most of the people here didn't know yet how to read.
Please stop being purists and thinking that you are special because you are not. You are not the only ones who have the right to enjoy this kind of music. And just because somebody is 14 year old punk kid with unlaced shoes and terrible haircut it still doesn't mean that he unworthy of hearing Psy Trance. Some of us actually were 14 year old punk kids. Some of us even have Judas Priest's CD's and still enjoy it from time to time.

OK, many good opinions, some I agree with.
I can say that some people here changed my way of thinking a bit.
No matter what I will still LOVE PsyTrance, just hope that my "favorite" artists doesn´t sell out.

don't worry! a part of the so-called 'psy-trance' with names as Skazi, GMS, Astrix, new horrible Dali etc. will take part of something that will get way out of hand and too commercial. Pitty for them, lucky for the true ones, the ones who love PSYCHEDELIC trance and apreciate all that's new and interesting and intelligent. music for the grown-ups-of-mind. and since the babies will have left to go to their massive bull-shit-parties, we'll get the chance to start all over again and do it right with just nice people and GOOD music. cheers! |

We got a nice "underground" feeling here in finland! Lot´s of our scene circles around frinds anyway...
But why haven´t punk kids got the same right as you to listen to whatever music they like? Or do you feel you are above these people? How underground does that make you? |

Yeah I pity them, getting the big gigs, lots of drugs, travel the world, and opportunity for a little booty action...I think they're pitying us religated to working 9-to-5 in small beige cubicals, 10 days/year vacation.
Our attitudes are almost meaningless to the rest of the world, if not translated into action. Typing responses on this BBS hardly constitutes an action. We can think we're the true psychedelic warriors but how can we back it up? Taken a greater variety, in greater frequency, of enthogens? Seems the true psychedelic warrior can manipulate their reality to suit their needs.
In the US, sometimes we get GMS here but it's pretty rare to get Skazi, Astrix, even Yahel for that matter (Tsunami of NYC being the general exception, pandoring to the israeli post-army travellers). I feel we're participating less in "getting the sure-thing big name artists" -partially out of cost but partially because most of the trance collectives, here, are dedicated music nerds interested in sick and innovative styles.
"curious one" I understand your point though. Yahel (and Skazi) doesn't strike me as being very psychedelic, more like trance -rock-and-roll (punk), where the attitude is part of the music.
How does this affect me? Maybe it limits the number of gigs I can play since big name acts chew up budget so smaller acts can nudge in. But i'm not a rock-n-roll trance artist, perhaps I should bust out my guitar and throw down speed metal solos onto the propulsive 4x4 beats? naaaaa....

I am so sick of talkin about how psy is becmoing commercial... well this started a while back... what to do....?? neverbe afraid... is no use being afraid... thts the last thing you should do...the people in the scene who been here for a while now (the last gen of psy who saw the REAl good vibe of psy and goa.. )will know wht i am talkin about... the spirit is dying out... if not dead already atleast in my city and country(INDIA)... there is nothin i feel when i go to a party except for the music... the cult is gone... for now... its a downfall of human kind...from my information...the same thing is happenning all over the world ... as u say in the states.. plp in mexico tell me tht too.. and many uda countries...well the music has changed too ... its a diff. ball game now.... its more about the money(for the party organisers) ... i mean there are people i know and u all know who have this compitition of whose got better and newer and more music... this happenned to rock n roll in the 70's when the "COOL" cult came in ... its already hapenning to psy ... the material world is taking over again ... people dont belive in god... they dont even knwo what the spirit is.... its so sad.. i mean look at me... for instance...this negetivity is so addictive it doesnt leave anyone... i mean people live in this unreal hell they create for themselves... and they so blind they cant even see it... they donno the dfference between heaven n hell..i'll give u an example... i talk about a spiritual trip of mine a connection i had with god.. with nature.. and people around me just disrespect the whole idea... they dont knwo where they wanna go....they are afraid to LOVE... but anyway god has his way.... hes closing this door for us... so enjoy this while it lasts!!!! ... there will be a better door openin soon ....lets wait for it... i anticipate it will be KILLER!!

I wouldn't worry about it at all.
The music bubbles up from the underground, and every now and again, the commercial powers that be come along and skim a whole load of crap from the surface and sell it to masses. Psy-trance is now so far remove from its origins.
Its just another cycle of death and rebirth. The sooner all this same-sounding psy is removed the better. The music of the future will be allowed to bloom in its place.
But don't worry, the world is a smaller place, but there will always be psychedelic music, parties and peoples and adventures. |
