When I was 13, after a couple of years of being a Metallica fan in the US, I returned to Israel. Back then when the US was all rock and cheesy rap, Europe had already discovered techno, and I was immediately hooked on that, and quickly started listening to rave and a bit of hardcore as well. I was already one of the regulars in the CD shop close to my home. I just saw an album with a weird cover, with some really stupid name. I listened to it at the CD store, and it was definately more interesting than the rave and techno music I intended to buy earlier. The major turning point though was Hallucinogen's wonderful Twisted album. I heard it on the day it was out (same record shop), when the owner said I'd love the CD. I listened to it once, bought it, and listened only to it for about a month.

... 11 years since the first time I heard it, and I still listen to the same music.

actually techno has some of its strongest roots in the US. You should brush up on you EDM history.

I arrived in the UK from NZ in 1998 and went to a Pendragon party - all uplifting and hard trance. Was hooked and remained in this scene for about three years - Dj'd a bit at Logic and 414 and the like. Went back and lived in Australia for 18 months. The girl who hired me for my job invited me to a "Bush Doof". I decided to go along with some friends and after feeling my way through a few sets of quite dark and twisted psy trancem the morning came....amazing outdoor site and Ozzy from Tribeadelic playing for about four hours. The first time I truly danced myself into a trance, covered in dirt, grinning and spinning. This clinched it for me. Although I still enjoyed the other music, trance was where the soul was, where the real people went, with less thought about how they looked or who they hung out with and more social and conscious awareness. Less about the drugs and more about the vibe...

im from portugal and some time ago around 1995 there was a t.v program here named the adventurers (sponsored by pepsi)the beginning of the program starts with the iggy pop music passenger .that program was about travellers. i was arround 17yr at the time and in one of those programs they talked about the partys that go arround asia in goa and koh panghan in that was a clik i felt magic .but those days trance was rarely to find and fortunately some friend of mine in 1996 ordered from germany a trance album im not remembered the title something like voices of shiva in since that time i was enchanted by this sound ....

i don't remember exactly how old i was or the year. it must have been 97, i was 15. a friend of mine who was alway's a musician had gotten into house and started making trecks of his own on his computer. i would sit for hours and watch/listen to him do it.
one day he introduced me to Infected Mushroom and i was hooked, i stopped listening to anything else or buying anything except for psy-trance. the same went for my friend who no longer makes how's. he is now an up and coming psy-trance DJ (Katam). all we still do is sit around in his basement (now a real studio) smoke and make psy-trance, and obviously go to parties.

actually i dont exactly remember how i started hearing trance.... i think my very very first trance track i heard was when i was a kid (7-10years old)..
a friend of mine who was bigger in a few years brought to my house a casset with trance... or was it acid? ;P
i didnt keep listening it, actually i remember i was SCARED of this music, coz the track began at some very dark voice saying something..
so, a few years later, i got on mp3 Yahel - Intelligen Life... and my friend played me some trax from Hux Flux.... and so on, it went till now about 3-4 years =)
